Summary: Funny, Touching, and Sweet
Review: I ordered this book for a friend and later read it myself. I laughed out loud and cried a few times too. Having a Phil and Greg situation in my own family-the story really touched a cord. You know the destination but the journey is fun anyway. Shirley, Goodness and Mercy are my kind of angels!

Summary: A truly touching, once-in-a-lifetime holiday tale!
Review: It's the holiday season, but life certainly isn't a winter wonderland for cold-hearted Greg Bennett ... until three well-meaning (and slightly trouble-prone) angels step in to give this modern-day Scrooge a second chance at happiness.

SHIRLEY, GOODNESS and MERCY, the new, gift-sized hardcover from bestselling author Debbie Macomber, is a heartwarming modern-day fable of forgiveness, redemption and second chances.

Greg Bennett chose his solitary path a long time ago. As a young man, faced with the responsibility of an unplanned child, he fled from commitment, walking away from the love of his life. Later, when his business, a winery in California, is just starting to take off, Greg turned his back on a friend in need. And, on the day his own seriously ill mother was admitted to the hospital, Greg decided not to postpone the court appearance that would end his second marriage, and he arrived at the hospital too late to say goodbye.

Now, his third marriage is in shambles and his business is on the verge of ruin - and he's praying for a miracle.

Although Greg's transgressions are almost too many to count, the Archangel Gabriel couldn't help but notice the desperate plea for help from this lost soul. Something in Greg Bennett had cried out to heaven, lamenting his empty life. Who could Gabriel send to Earth to convince the man to turn a new leaf? For a task this difficult, there could only be one option: Shirley, Goodness and Mercy.

The assignment was tough, this delightful trio of guardian angels agreed. Greg needed to make amends with the woman he left behind, gain the forgiveness of his best friend, reconcile with his brother, and save a life to replace the one lost due to his selfishness.

On Christmas Eve, Greg Bennett will have the opportunity to redeem his soul and discover that he is worthy of a second chance ... if he can learn to accept that he, too, has a role in making miracles happen.

Summary: Excellant Book! Debbie Macomber has a way with Angels!
Review: Shirley, Goodness & Mercy are back! They are ready, willing and able to help. Yes, they are still driving Gabriel up the wall. Like all other Macomber books I have read, this book is definitely a good read. My first experience with Shirley, Goodness & Mercy, was in A SEASON OF ANGELS, and I have enjoyed reading about them ever since. As always, they were funny, spontaneous and down to earth. Using their special magic, they turn everything around and touch your heart. Of course, the recipients of their help, never saw it coming!

The only draw back for me (an AVID reader) was that the book was not LONG ENOUGH! Debbie Macomber is one author I could read all day!

Summary: Unexpected Kindness
Review: Three inept angles find their latest project to be a man much disliked. When he finds himself on the bottom, about to lose everything, he asks for help but does not really believe he will get it. Shirley, Goodness, & Mercy find a warm, and satisfactory way to help him. I liked this book because it reminds me that everyone needs a little kindness and we often find it in unusual places. There are both tears and chuckles in this book. It is short, sweet, and a wonderful read aloud book.
