Summary: a good story
Review: This is the second book I've read of Karyn Monk's and I must say I liked it much better than the first one I read "once A Warrior". I liked the fact that the heroine in thei book Gwendolyn may be very fragil looking but she is strong in spirit and puts others beforeherself even though the other may not be deserving of it. Alex the hero is a tortured soul after his first wife's death and I liked the way Karyn Monk showed that he had true feelings of loss and really truely mourned his wife even though it was common practice to get remarried asap if children were involved. I didn't like the relationship that Alex had with his sick son and even though it gets better during the story it could have been so much more.

I enjoyed this book and will probably get other books by Karyn Monk.

Summary: Wonderful!!!
Review: When I picked up this book, I didn't think that I'd enjoy it so very much. I've read a number of romances and I get bored easily if the few opening paragraghs don't capture my attention immediately. But that's not the case for the Witch and the Warrior. I was HOOKED right from the first to the last pages. Re-read it 2 more times before I'd to return it to a friend. It's that spellbinding! The heroine was fragile and yet strong and protective to her loved ones. The hero was everything I ever hope he would be...real, tough and vulnerable. And I love all the secondary characters (especially the MacSweens) who add lots of humour to the story. This is the first Karyn Monk's book that I've read and I really recommend it to other romance readers. Will try to find her other books while waiting for the next one (I sincerely hope so). Keep it up Ms Monk!!!

Summary: Teenage fantasy
Review: When I read all the praise in the other rewievs on this page, I thought 'this must be a great book' and bought it, but it really disappointed me. This is a nice little fairytale and it could be good as a teenage or children's fantasy-book (after some editing in the romance parts), but the plot is too obvious, the characters are like two-dimensional beings, lacking any depth and I doubt the author really thought about how to fit her story into the historical background. None of her "historical" characters ever thought to consult the church in all their dealings with a condemned witch, what would have been unthinkable in those times. So the setting is just some kind of fantasy country, not medieval scotland - but of course, Scottish or Viking chiefs make the best of macho heroes in this kind of book...

Summary: Very touching.
Review: When I read the back of this book I knew I had to read it. Well, am I glad I did. This book is so different from other books I have read. Karyn Monk is such a good writer, she really helped me understand how sad it is to be ostracized for being different and how mean children can be. But on a lighter note, the constant bickering between the elders of the clan was very amusing. And McDunn's way with words is outstanding. The plot is very original.

This is the first book from Karyn Monk I have read and it won't be my last.
