Summary: Not what I expected
Review: This book is one of a series, called the Rogues of Regent Street. I was expecting a light, frothy Regency romance. Instead, this is a historical novel, set in the 1830s, with a strong feminist slant that sees women as victims. The central female characters move through the novel subject to the legal control of the males around them. One subplot explores the lack of legal protection for married women in abusive relationships. This is a strong novel with a lot of violence. I have rated it two stars only. This is a feminist commentary-I was looking for something else.

Summary: Another good book!!
Review: This book was a surprise. I confess, I was not quite sure where it was going in the beginning, as there were some very comical situations that Julian Dane, the Earl of Kettering was involved in. Claudia Whitney, our heroine, and the childhood best friend of Julian's sisters, also had some very comical moments as well. Julian was the older brother, left with the care of four sisters after the death of his parents. He indulged his sisters beyond belief and their best friend, Claudia, had become like another sister to him.

Having always thought of her as another sister, albeit, a holy terror, feelings changed for him two years prior, when she walked into a ballroom and he saw her for the first time as a very beautiful and desirable woman. Unfortunately, his best friend at the time, Philip spoke up first and set his sights on Claudia. An unspoken vow, with the `Rogues' was that no one would ever pursue another rogues love interest. Of course, now that Philip was dead....

Both of them, individually trying to drown their true feelings, re-discovered each other at a party. During this fateful party Claudia and Julian let their feelings get the better of them and were caught in a most compromising position. Julian is more than willing to offer marriage to Claudia, who promptly turns him down. Secretly, Claudia had always hero-worshipped and loved Julian Dane, yet she was afraid to let him know it because she had listened to rumors and did not want to have her heart broken. Her father, once hearing the scandal forced Claudia to accept his proposal. Convincing Claudia of his love and that he was no longer the rake she thought of him would take all of Julian's charm.

The story deals quite a bit with trust and a somewhat tragic story of a failure to communicate. Through a misconstrued message from Claudia to Sophie, Julian's youngest sister, to follow her heart, a tragic set of circumstances is set in motion - circumstances that would tear any type of trust that was built between Julian and Claudia beyond repair. Along with the Julian/Claudia love story, there is this other more serious matter - that of Julian's sister Sophie, whose low self-esteem and impending coming of age annuity made her ripe for the pickings of a real low life and dangerous fortune hunter.

I loved the characters who were both complex and strong, yet so very fragile and needy. It was a joy to read how they could overcome almost insurmountable deceptions to find their way back to one another - a truly glorious journey. I would definitely recommend this book.

Review: This book was wonderful-- thank you Julia London. I've read all of your books, and wait impatiently for the next one. The ruthless charmer in this book is charming indeed, and I only wish men like him existed in real life. Sexy... smart...loyal... caring... gorgeous. Did I mention sexy? He was so terific, I wonder how you are going to top him in your next book.

Summary: 3rd of the Rogues
Review: This is the 3rd book of the Rogues of Regents Series. It was ok light reading. It didn't hold my attention to the point that I couldn't put it down. I guess it was the times when the men didn't listen to women and thought when they made a decision it was accepted without question.

I would have like to see more interactions with the three Rogues in the 2nd and 3rd book.

Summary: My Opinion
Review: This is the first book I have read by Julia London, for a new writer she is pretty good. Usually I read Deveraux, Lindsey, Kane, Quick and Putney for Historical Romances. This book started out very slow for what I'm use to, but it did get much better. I have to say it was nice to read a book that the characters knew they loved the other almost from the beginning. I wouldn't say this was a hard to put down book, but it is one you will want to finish.

Summary: Another good book!!
Review: This is the second book from the series 'Rouges of Regent Street'. It was great, a good follow up from the first book. This story revolves around Julian Dane, a terribly handsome rake. Now, here is the leading lady, Lady Claudia Whitney. Julian has known her since her childhood and only looked upon her like a sister at that time. But, as Claudia grows up to be a stunning woman with a kind heart, she has capture Julian's attention and heart ever since.
What I loved about this book was the way Julian treats Claudia. He besotted his affection to her, his passion and of course his love, even though she was wary of him (because of a childhood experience).
The reason why this book deserves 4 stars instead of 5 is because:
Seriously, Sophie is extremely irritating and willful which gets to my nerves. And also the part when you feel like ripping out your hair when Claudia does not return any of Julian's affection, when it is so clear that he is in love with her.
But overall this book is a good read. Not even Sophie's naivety could dampen the satisfied feeling I got when I finished this book. Go get it!

Summary: 2nd in the series
Review: This is the second installment in the Rogues of Regent Street series. They all tie in with each other so I think they should be read in order. The 1st book THE DANGEROUS GENTLEMAN was Adrain's story, this is Julian Dare's. Julian is on of Adrian's best friends. He too is tramatized by the incident involving thier mutual friend Phillip. But he also has a secret fear that involves Phillip and Lady Claudia. Now Lady Claudia has been his sister's firend for years. He has withnessed her groth from a imp of a girl to a beautiful woman. He vows to have her as his own which leads to a scandal. Claudia has loved Julian for as long as she can remember. He has hurt her several times and when he expresses interest in her she is leary but her heart leads the way. She must somehow show him that her love is true and that it's ok for him to love her back.

I enjoyed the fact that Claudia is a strong woman who is fighting for women's rights in a time when women were thought to have none. I also liked the fact that Julian was secure enough in his malesness to accept that she was deserving of his respect as a fellow human.

I look forward to others in this series.

Summary: Fabulous Story!
Review: This story is just fabulous! Miss London's vast vocabulary shows a wonderful grasp of the use of language in building a story. I love the characters. She brings them to life in a very interesting way. I can visualize them because they seem so real. I can't wait for the last book of the trilogy.
