Rating: Summary: This is one for the keeper shelf! Review: I thought this was an enchanting book that I won't soon forget. Justin and Emily Claire made me laugh and they made me cry. I can't wait to read more of Medieros's books!
Rating: Summary: Second only to "Once an Angel" by Medeiros, Wonderful! Review: If I could sum up this book with just one word, I would really have a hard time coming up with it - this book is everything: pirates, humor, a sinfully wonderful hero, a heroine that is spunky and fun, and villains popping out of nowhere towards the end.Lucy Snow is in love - with a faceless, notoriously rakish pirate. See, he kissed her - big mistake. She's left with the memory of a kiss (and she left him a wallop of a memory, too!), and it's all she can do to compare Gerard's actions to the pirate's. Gerard as a character is written beautifully. He is quite the well-rounded hero: he's studious, he knows his ships, he loves the ocean, and he won't admit it, but he's falling for Lucy. What more could a romance novel ask for? He has a younger brother who he has pledged to care for as their mother is no longer alive, and it's because of the fate of his life that makes him endearing. He has a soul hidden underneath - he cares about his brother, and he cares about those whose well-being he's in charge of. Even though he gets close to Lucy for reasons other than getting to know her better, he can't help but fall for her. Their kiss sealed that fate. What's more, Teresa Medeiros' writings about the ocean in this story are truly worth the price of the cover. I can't help but quote a piece of it: "The sea at dawn is a cathedral. It's where darkness is conquered by light in a battle that's been waging for all eternity." I won't write any more of the quote, as I would suggest reading the book to get to that part, but truly, Teresa is a master at her craft. She is the writer I would like to become. Writers all have their unique styles, and Teresa Medeiros definitely has her own. I just hope that one day, my writing might be as well-done as hers. Lastly, the humor Teresa is so good at writing abounds in this story. I nearly fell out of my chair when, in one scene, Lucy's father's valet knocks on Gerard's door at a god-awful hour of the morning, and there's Gerard, with nothing more than a sheet around his waist, shoving the door open, growling at the valet that he'd be out shortly, then slamming the door in the face of the miffed valet. There is a magical quality to Teresa's writing that draws the reader in - the humor in her stories is a part of that quality. I'm a sucker for a pirate romance as well, so reading "Thief of Hearts" was a treat for me. It's a keeper, and it's a book that I've read more than once, and I don't hesitate to reccommend it to my friends.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: It's rare that I'll read a book a second time - unless it really grabs me! Well, "Thief of hearts" is such a book. The hero is simply scrumptuous! "Captain Doom" is a clever fellow who exudes strength and sensuality. Our introduction to him is as a boy, and he captures our hearts immediately. Next, we meet Lucy Snow, our proper heroine, who has been taught an icy stance by her cold-hearted father. When she and Doom meet, it's electric! Medeiros exceeds at stirring the senses, and this book is really one of her best. If you're looking for romance, this is one book you won't want to miss!

Rating: Summary: Quite nearly a five of five Review: Ms. Medeiros, one of the few authors who uses her own name, writes fantastically. Unlike many of the other authors I like, she does not use quite so much humor, but her romances are remarkable anyway. Unlike some of the other reviewers I would not say this is a life changing book, nor any of the passages among the most beautiful I have read, but, "Theif of Hearts" stands out as one of the best romance novels I have ever read, and certainly one of the best romance novels I have read in a long while. It is not hard to see that the hero plays many roles, but also unlike other reveiwers, that was one of the main reasons I bought the novel. The last book I read by Ms. Medeiros had been a disapointment, and so I was looking for something that she could, hopefully not fail at, and I won. Not only did Ms. Medeiros not fail, but she succeeded admirably in writing a novel that could easily have been so overly cliched it would have been painful to read. Instead she brought life to her characters and created a wonderfully beautiful romance. I really liked this book. Miss Lucinda Snow was a great heroine and Mr. Gerard Claremont was dashing in all of his roles. I do not wish to give the plot away, though it should not be hard to guess, but event though the story sounds trite (and what romance novel doesn't?), Ms. Medeiros created a story that, to be silly, "warmed my heart". I would give it five of five stars, but it was not the best I've ever read, and I'm picky. I can find no faults with it to keep it from being a five star novel, except for perhaps the plot which is dreadfully overdone. But truly, the only reason it is four of five is that I have, on rare occasion, read better. "Theif of Hearts" is an extremely high four. I recommend it to everybody.
Rating: Summary: Medeiros always writes beautifully Review: Not only does she really "get" romance and love (unlike some authors who focus primarily on sexual attraction), but her writing is, quite simply, beautiful. I often catch myself stopping to pause and savor a particularly well-written phrase or sentence. Not many authors can do that. Lucy is, by turns, spunky and timid, depending upon the presence of her father, the admiral. But it is that contradiction that both enrages adn calls to Gerard Claremont. His rival is the mysterious Captain Doom...or is he? The twists and turns of betrayal and deceit keep the story moving and intriguing, and watching Lucy come out from under her father's thumb is good character development. Still, for me, it is not Medeiros' best work. I cannot put my finger on anything specific; I liked the book, but it just didn't resonant with me as some of her others have. Nevertheless, it is a very good book.
Rating: Summary: A pirate romance that captures your heart! Review: THIEF OF HEARTS is a thrilling romance. Captain Doom captured my heart from the moment he appeared on the page. He's the perfect wounded hero for Lucinda and she's the perfect match for him. They were meant to be together. I've been a fan of Teresa Medeiros's books since LADY OF CONQUEST and this is Teresa Medeiros at her best. Her writing is simply magical. No one does humor and pathos better. She breaks your heart and then she heals it. This romance on the high seas belongs on everyone's keeper shelf. It's a classic and it ranks right up there with Laura London's THE WINDFLOWER. I loved it and I recommend it to everyone!
Rating: Summary: Beautifully Written Review: This book was sitting in my closet for quite some time before I read it because when I read the back cover I figured that the heroine, Lucinda, would go through a lot of embarassment. Its pretty easy to guess Gerard's identity even from reading the back so I figured that when Lucinda found out that it would be a hard time for her and I hate reading stuff like that, so I put off reading this book. However, I found the courage to pull it out and now it is one of my very favorite novels by Ms. Medeiros. Lucinda Snow, Lucy to her friends, and Miss Snow to everybody else, was so charming. She was also a dynamic character: she transforms from a naive and affection starved girl into a woman who can make her own decisions. Captain Doom was a loveable pirate who had been betrayed, and despite the rumors that he once ravished 10 virgins in one night and is a ghost, he is really a quite noble and loveable man. These two characters were perfect for each ohter. The end is the very best part and I get a silly grin on my face whenever I think about it. This book is a must read. I put it right at the top of my list along with Nobody's Darling.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book Review: This is yet another wonderful story about two people who seem destined to be at odds for the rest of their lives but somehow manage to come together. My favorite part of the story is the ending, which made me smile for hours. Read this book...it'll cheer you up!
Rating: Summary: This book is for those who look for interesting plot twists. Review: Usually in a historical romance novel you know the ending when you first start. Not so with this book. It had me guessing who would "get the girl" for quite a while. Teresa is a very good writer, and of her books I've read so far this one is my favorite. It is a very good book for those who enjoy historical romances with pirate themes and plenty of suprises. It has a strong heroine and a suitably tough, yet sensitive, hero (or is it heroes?). I don't want to give everything away, so read the book and be ready for some superior entertainment!
