Summary: Different People Like Different Things
Review: This book was actually well written, but it falls falls short because of the emotional abuse and brutality. There are some people who do not mind this, because it is a medieval romance novel. I try to take the time setting into account, but I just cannot deal with a story where the heroine is punished by being locked away for over two weeks because she angers the hero. I also cannot deal with a jerk of a hero who considers himself the lord and master of everything. He gets angry and punishes the heroine for dealing with a crooked steward(I think it was the steward) without asking permission, locks her in a solar for a time later on in the book, and pretty much treats her like a marionette with him jerking the strings any way he pleases. I guess I am just one of those "sensitive" readers. Oh well, if any one else considers themselves in this class, you will not like this book and shouldn't waste their money.

Summary: Touching story and wonderful characters
Review: This is first time I read the author's book and now I wonder why she doesn't write more. I believe I found an author who can really write a captivating romance story. I look forward to reading more of her book.

Summary: First [and best] in a series
Review: This is the best book in the "Warlord" series. Tess and Kenric are wonderfully matched, and their slowly realized love is romantic magic. The next book, Betrothed, is a "good-un" also. The main characters are great [and the heroine's brother needs a book of his own --- possibly her next book, "The Assassin"?] Ms. Elliot then skips 5 or 6 centuries to resume the story of the Remmington line in "Scoundrel". There are echoes of both Tess and Kenric in their descendent, the Duke. I love it when a good book is followed by other good books about the same characters or families!

Summary: Captivating story
Review: This is the best historical romance I've read. The story, the characters were all very well written. The author is one of those rare writers who can tell a story in-depth without ever slowing down the action. The story was gut wrenching, dramatic and humorous as well. These characters, even the minor characters were complex and interesting. Don't miss reading this book!

Summary: Incredibly sexy hero!
Review: This is the first book I've read from Elizabeth Elliott and it won't be the last. In this story she tells a beautiful story of a Knight who is known to all as the Butcher of Wales. He is a hardened man who has vowed never to marry but ends up doing just that. When he first see's his bride, Tess, he thinks her to be a large mishapened woman, and is greatly releaved to find her a very small and slight woman of incredible beauty. He is wary though of letting himself show how much he comes to care for her because he doesn't want his enemies to use that against him. He has developed two new enemies in Tess's stepfather and her stepbrother. They have hurt Tess many times both mentally and physically. He is outrages to find this out and vows to kill them both. Meanwhile Tess is struggling with her own feelings. She feels a duty to her people and yet her heart really wants Kendric. His love making is is wonderous to her and the fact that he doesn't beat her amazes her. Together they must over come thier commmon enemies and thier own fears to find love and happiness. I liked this story a lot and found the secondary characters wonderful. I would have liked the love scenes to be more descriptive but the lack of discription didn't take much away from the story. I look forward to reading the sequels to this book.

Summary: The Warlord ravishes our imagination
Review: This is wonderful and fierce romance. Everything a warm summer's evening should be. "THE Warlord" is powerfully evocative but perhaps lacks the profound subtlty of something like "The Autobiography..." by Richard G Patton, which although less fierce is perhaps more compellingly as a romance. Elizabeth Elliot knows women and knows how to fan our fantasies.

Summary: Captivating love story between two subborn characters
Review: Very enjoyable book. Storyline based in the gothic era after Kenric "The Butcher" returns from his 3rd tour of duty in the Crusades. He is ordered by King Edward to rescue Tess, Lady Remmington from her evil step father. She is running for her life since she's suffered physical abuse from her step-father & his clan. She meets Kenric and nothing is the same. Both characters are stubborn & tend to "misinterpret" the other person's feelings. However they eventually admit their love & as they say...Love Conquers All... Great read; 1st in the Warlord series!!!!!!
