Summary: What a surprise!
Review: I've never read a book like this in my life. Judging by the cover, I would have thought it to be a trashy sex novel. But it ended up being one of the best books I've ever read. I loved the setting, it made me miss the ocean. As soon as I finished it, I wanted to start reading it all over again!

Summary: Charming rethinking of the Ugly Duckling
Review: Susan Wiggs is a master craftsperson of the written word, creating such a strong sense of time and place, she transports her readers. Her charming retelling of The Ugly Duckling takes intelligent, but socially awkward Isadora Peabody aboard the aptly named Silver Swan, where her adventures as Captain Ryan Calhoun's translator, allow her to blossom. Dashing rake Ryan has never met a woman like stubborn Isadora, the first woman to ever make him feel his worth. Together, they are magic. Don't miss this wonderful book. It will sweep you off your feet!

Summary: 1ST BOOK BY SUSAN WIGGS, WAS GREAT BUT...
Review: This book was so different from anything I have read before. I've been reading romance books for 15 years. I thought this book was very well written and clever. I loved the way the characters grew throughout the story. I had two complaints about this book. 1) I felt the romantic scenes were a little tame 2) I did not feel it was neccessary to the plot to have Ryan and Isadora get high on a Hemp cigar when they were in the forest. I did not like the idea of Ryan telling Isadora to do it to experience something different? That scene was very disappointing to me. I think Ms. Wiggs is extremely talented and I will read more of her stories, but I could have done without that part of the story.

Summary: Amazing! A bright new star in romance
Review: While Susan Wiggs may have been writing for some time, "The Charm School" was the first time I became familiar with her works - and am I ever glad I did.

Her style is witty, warm, engaging and refreshing. I have made it a goal to swipe up everything she has ever written to this date, hoping they are as touching and wonderful as "TCS".

Please, if you are a reader of historical romance (or even not) try this book - and no need to thank me afterward. ;-P

Summary: This is what a book should be!!!
Review: It had everything. Wonderful characters, strong plot, touching momments. It is probably the best romance book I have read this year! I felt connected to these characters and wanted to find out more about their future. I reached the last page I could not let them go, they were too dear. This book could easily have followed the basic "romance formula" but S. Wiggs gave this story depth and poignancy.

Buy this book and keep it forever.

Summary: AND THE UGLY DUCKLING TURNED INTO A SWAN
Review: Another great story from Susan Wiggs. Isadora a shy insecured spinster finds courage and love when she sets sail on the ship "The Swan" I recommend this book for anyone who loves romance and a happy ending.

Summary: This is one of those special, easy to read, stay up all night
Review: this is a story that delighted me. It is about a girl who did not fit the social pattern and was ridiculed all her life because she was not as beautiful as the other members of her family. She takes destiny in her own hands when she forces a ship master to take her on as interpreter. She then proceeds to charm the sailors on board and in turn, is taught the self confidence necessary to allow her to overcome all odds. the book is written so smoothly that it is a joy to follow. the love story is made very believable, and the story just flows so that you don't want to put it down.

Summary: Wow!
Review: This book blew me away. The writing was superb, the characters have incredible emotional resonance together, and the author's exquisite use of detail was like entering a time machine that transported me to a variety of exciting and magical places. I loved seeing the world through Isadora's eyes. THE CHARM SCHOOL is vivid, moving, and funny. Definitely one of the best romances of the year.
