Summary: Not bad.
Review: I picked this up at the airport recently and read it during a long flight and layover. I didn't know it was a reprint of an older book, though I should have known from the quality!

The story was just "ok." I felt it could have been a lot more interesting. I have a hard time believing that frumpy clothes and sunglasses could hide "the world's most famous supermodel", especially considering how easily recognized most celebrities are in People magazine, even with sunglasses and baseball caps on!

Trent and Rana were interesting characters though, and the story flowed well and was easy to read. The basic idea is that Rana gave up her supermodel career because she was sick of her overbearing mother constantly pushing her in to things she didn't want. She put on the sunglasses and frumpy clothes and became the prudish "Ana" who rented a room from an elderly lady named Ruby. Ruby's nephew Trent came to stay for a few weeks, to heal up his shoulder before returning to his job as a pro football quarterback.

Trent shows interest in Ana, which surprises her since she is supposedly so hideous in her frumpy clothes. They end up falling in love, but having a predictable fallout before making up and living happily ever after.

Overall, I have a hard time giving this book more than 3 stars. I did read it and somewhat enjoy it, but I found the plot and characters a little cliche and unbelieveable. It's a good airplane read though, as it's quick and easy! There are much better romance novels out there, so I only recommend this one in a pinch.

Summary: The Rana Look
Review: I recently purchased this book and was disappointed that it had to end. I only wish that Sandra Brown can think of a new story line using Rana and Trent as her chracters. It was very sexy and charming and witty all at the same time. Only bad thing about the book was that I want to know if Trent takes his team to the Super Bowl and if Rana does go back to her career, etc. I really hope another contiuation of their life is written up again. You will really love this couple and story line.

Summary: More Like It
Review: I was very disappointment with The Crush. But The Rana Look more than made up for it. The book had excellent characterizations. Especially relationship between Rana and her mother was superb. The storyline was excellent as well. I couldn't put it down I read it in one night. So read the Rana Look today.

Summary: Not necessarily worth it
Review: Sometimes I'm in the mood for depth, sometimes, not. This was one of those books that didn't involve much thought. Just a quick and light hearted read that made you feel good. However, I did think that it could have been much better and have read much better (Hello, Darkness and The Crush). But it's not really fair to catagorize this book with her more intense novels. This was a short book about two people falling for each other while staying in the same house.

I gave it only 3 stars because I tend to go for the books that have more substance. But this is a great read if you want to read something while you wait for the next S. Brown book.

Summary: A Sandra Brown Fan
Review: The Rana Look is a reprint of one of Sandra Brown's older novels. It tells the story of beautiful and exotic model, Rana, who leaves the modeling profession and her controlling mother. She is burned out and tired of being just another pretty face..the last straw is an arranged marriage that her mother is pushing her into.

To get away, Rana reinvents herself as Ana Ramsey...a plain, drab artist and hides herself away in a boarding house. She also takes up painting to give herself a new career..one that she is doing well at. All seems to be going well for Ana until Trent shows up at her hideaway.

Trent is like all the men that Rana had met in her life. Trent is a professional quarterback, womanizer with model good looks. He initially sees Ana as a challenge and conquest. But Ana quickly rebuffs him and forces him to see her real self and hot her looks.

Trent and Ana fall in love, but Ana is still keeping her real identity a secret. Eventually Trent finds out who she really is. Trent and Ana's relationship was touching and the characters were likable. Ana's struggle with her looks, modeling, mother and agent etc. made the book well paced and kept the storyline moving.

Even though it is one of sandra brown's older novels, it is still worth a read.

Summary: Pretty Good Story
Review: This book kept me reading until the very end. It was very fast-paced, interesting, and exciting. Brown inserted those few moments in which Rana's true identity could be discovered by Trent and it created a bit of suspense.

Brown did very well creating a chemistry between Rana and Trent for such a short book. Trent was an endearing character after he got over his arrogance about women falling over him, though sometimes he acted like a child with his pouts. I liked Rana's story about her greedy mother. But since I am such a sucker for happy endings, I would have liked her mother to change or at least have wanted to change. Instead, her mother just got more evil.

However, I did want to know what happened with Rana. I was left hanging at the end with questions. Would Rana go back to modeling or continue with painting? Plus, I wouldn't have minded knowing what happened after Ruby realizing the truth. Ruby is a funny and quirky character after all.

But this a great book to read and you should be able to read it in a few hours.
