Summary: AGAINST THE WIND is a story of a love that transcends race
Review: AGAINST THE WIND is my eleventh title, my first interracial romance, and my second book for Genesis Press. I believe I captured in this story the beauty of love that is so strong and so true that it doesn't defy but rises above every obstacle and every roadblock. It is not a story of race relations and conflict, but of two people who so obviously belong together that even those who oppose the pair understand and, in the long run, route for their coming together. My lovers are equally matched and equally mated. You will route for them, as I did when I wrote their story. Gwynne Forster

Summary: All things are possible
Review: Against the Wind was different but great never the less.Leslie I imagine was a beautiful black girl who just got caught up in something that should never have happened proving that some men can only think with their lower head rather that the top one-but never the less, Leslie met a loving stranger who took her in as his employee and found in Leslie everything he ever wanted in a woman. Jordan was white but he never looked at people as black and white but he looked at the heart of a man or woman and that's when he began to see Leslie as more than his employee but as his friend, lover and wife. Once all the danger was out of their lives which was created by a mad man who was after Leslie. Then Jordans nephew, Cal brings an even greater bond between Leslie and Jordan after Cals father died in an accident and he came to live with Jordan. Cal loved the both of them unconditionslly without any reservations and couldn't see why Leslie and Jordan couldn't be together. You must read this book just to get to know Cal. A caring and loving story.

Summary: Love and understanding
Review: At first, I didn't know if I would like this book because it only show the silhouette of the main characters, but boy was I wrong.

From the very first page the book had me hooked. Jordan and Leslie's love was fast and swift. Jordan knew he was in love with Leslie at first and tried to control his feelings, but in the end he had make her understand how much he loved her.

Leslie comimg from the horrible experience that she had. Couldn't understand how she could feel the way she did about Jordan. She tried to fight her feeling, but in the end they won out.

Don't make the mistake of not buying this book. It's worth every penny! A true interrracial romacne.

Summary: AHHH Come on!!!
Review: I am a black female in an interracial marriage and this book was just a bunch of bull! No one talks like this,I understood that it was a romance novel, but the author just kept hitting you over the head with this "love novel" language and it got old real quick. I threw this book away because I didn't want to waste anyone else's time and have them read it! I look for books with this type of relationship, but I wish I had left this one out in cyberspace!

Summary: Should be # 1 Best Seller
Review: I am an avid reader! This is the first time I've felt compelled to write a comment. I read my first Gwynne Forster book in the spring of '99. I have read all of her books since then. This is by far the very best and one of the best book I have ever read. I could not put it down. The love shared between Leslie and Jordan withstands all obstacles. We see their love mature as they struggle with all the barriers (race being just one of them). Each members of the family on the Saber Estates grew as they had to deal with their own prejudices. They were able to transcend the color barrier because of their honest and true fellings for each other. Clifford never had prejudices, he found a family, a home and loved them all. This book is all about fear, anxiety, hope, love, trust and so much more. I wanted to flip over to see how the it ended, but I waited and hoped for love to endure.....and it did. Ms. Forster must be a "people person"! She must have a lot of love for all people. She puts Jordan's thoughts and feelings in the first person and the results was dynamatic. She's just great! Can't wait for the next book.

Summary: Read this before buying...
Review: I am going to come right out and say it, bluntness is the best way. This book in all honesty is not good. I had to keep looking at the front cover and back of the book while reading it to reassure myself of the year the book was supposed to be set in. Let me explain this, if you were to read this book and didn't know it was a contemporary romance novel, you would think it was set in a time when he was the owner of some sort of "plantation" (or halfway house...maybe?) and she worked for him as his cook. But that isn't the only reason why I disliked the book. From the beginning they had a distrusting relationship, but all of a sudden (I still don't know how!), he saw her differently and she wasn't just his cook anymore...she was beautiful woman he had to have. The book made very little sense in a way that it wasn't believable. I could not make it through the book, I had to skip to the end about half way through it. I am an avid interracial romance novel reader and from the bottom of my heart, trust me...don't waste your money.

Summary: disappointed
Review: I have read Gynne Fosters books and I think she should stick to what she knows. Against the Wind spent too much time on the racial conflict and not enough time on the real story between the main characters. I will still buy her books but I hope she writes her usual great book next time.

Summary: OUTSTANDING
Review: I have read many interracial romance novels in my day but this is the best one that I have read hands down. It is such a powerful story that thankfully did not revolve too much around the race issue. Instead it is a story about a man and a woman in love and the obstacles they face. It is a great read even for those that tend to shy away from interracial romance novels.

Summary: GOOD
Review: I have read other interracial love stories before and have never been disappointed, but this book was a little disappointing. I had to really make myself finish reading this book because I wanted to put it down by the middle of it. Leslie just really grated on my nerves! "I like him,I don't like him, "I want to be with him,I don't want to be with him" COME ON ALREADY! I understand she went through a traumatic experience and everything but.......... PLEASE!

I liked Jordan with exception of maybe he was just a little too perfect. Here is white man that has never dated a black women, he meets her and he falls for her without any reservations whatsoever. I had a hard time swallowing that. I wanted him to have some conflict. I thought Ossie and Julia were more "real" in what they thought of Leslie and Jordan's relationship. I loved Clifford.

I'm not saying this was a terrible book, but I think I would have enjoyed it more if Leslie wasn't.......Leslie.
