Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Read! Review: It started a bit slow and you are not immediately drawn to the charaters, but after a while you connect with them. This book is not as good as some of her others, but it's worth your time and money.
Rating: Summary: Great! Review: Kat Martin does it again! I loved it
Rating: Summary: Wonderful love story Review: Kat Martin has written another great romance! In 1803 Charleston, tavern maid Brandy wants some adventure so she stows away on Marcus Delaine's ship to Nassau. Brandy has secretly been in love with Marcus since she was 9 years old. During the "adventure" Brandy and Marcus fall in love, although Marcus is reluctant to admit his love for Brandy. After the voyage Marcus returns Brandy to Charleston and leaves for China. During the fateful voyage, the ship is sabotaged and Marcus is hurt very badly. Unable to walk, Marcus returns to England an angry and broken man. Brandy hears of the troubles and immediately goes to England. Through love and determination, Marcus learns to walk again although he leaves Brandy once again to a life at sea. I'll stop here so I don't give all the story away. This is an excellent book and highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Exciting and Romantic Review: Last summer, I was bored while on vacation at the Jersey shore (it was raining) and picked up the first book that I noticed on our bookshelf. Someone had left "Night Secrets" in our condo and I decided to read it. About 24 hours later, I was finished and read it a second time. I absolutely loved the story. Marcus and Brandy are fascinating characters. Brandy, sick of her life as a tavern girl, stows away aboard Marcus' ship. When she is discovered, they have sailed too far to take her back home and so she stays aboard the ship. The men, of course, assume that she has become Marcus' mistress, but Marcus refuses to touch her. He is in love with the sea. At least, he THINKS that is all he can love... The book is romantic, emotional, and exciting. Read it. It will put a smile on your face.
Rating: Summary: THIS BOOK IS A KEEPER!!! Review: Mrs. Martin does an excellent job with this book. One of the better Historicals of 1999. Can't wait for her new book!! This book will make your heart melt and make you want to cry all at once. It is worth the 6 bucks. Go out and buy this book.
Rating: Summary: Boring, boring, boring Review: This book was just glum and boring. The characters were so wretched all the time. Apparently, Kat Martin does not know how to write with any wit or humor. I only got half way through the book and just couldn't stand all the "boo-hooing" the characters did. The style of this book reminds me very much of Brenda Joyce's recent works, or rather, poor works.
Rating: Summary: MUCH better than expected... Review: This is one of the last of Kat Martin's books I chose to read.. namely because books that take place on the sea REALLY don't interest me. I was pleasantly surprised.. I LOVED it. I couldn't put it down from the moment I picked it up, to the moment I put it down. If you're a Kat fan, you won't be disappointed..

Rating: Summary: Typical bodice-ripper but fast-paced and enjoyable Review: This is the first book I have read by Kat Martin, and I liked it. I have to admit, I chose it because I specifically wanted a light read, but I also wanted to be entertained, and I was. It was one of the most sexually charged bodice-rippers I've read, and that certainly helped to keep my attention! The only things which marred my enjoyment of the book were the anachronisms throughout the book in terms of use of language and attitudes. Kat Martin was inconsistent in her terminology, and Brianne's persona was too modern-day to be believable for that time period. No woman as hungry for freedom and adventure as she was supposed to have been would have put up with Marcus Delaine for one minute, no matter how attractive he was. His injury and subsequent rehabilitation were presented unrealistically and the conclusion of the story was banal. However, I would read more of her books. Although one could see where the story was going, the fast pace held one's interest.
Rating: Summary: High adventure, moving romance Review: This was a fabulous story, beautifully told by an author who knows why we read romance. I picked this up at the Safeway and never did get around to fixing dinner. Treat yourself to this book.
