Rating: Summary: Another Reprint? Review: Just a reminder to avid Linda Howard fans, of which I am!! Angel Creek is not a new novel, but rather another reprint first issued in December, 1997. If you missed it the first time around and want to make certain you have a complete collection, then by all means order this or the paperback edition. Just check your bookshelves first so that you don't, unless you wish to, end up with two copies of this one.
Rating: Summary: Very good Review: Lucas is a rather dashing rancher type..Dee is a smart, sassy and independant farmeress. When these two meet and wrangle over the Angel Creek valley sparks (and clothes) fly. I enjoyed this one very much, but will give it only four stars because the side romance of Olivia and the ranch hand fellow was distracting.
Rating: Summary: The Wild West with the WildCat Review: Lucas is the average good looking guy-arrogant. He thinks that Dee will just give him her little homestead. Land that Lucas really doesn't need and dee does- unless she becomes a whore. These two snap crackle and do their fair share of fighting-just to make it interesting. Olivia, Dee's best friend-rich banker's daughter-falls(through a long period of time) in love with the sexy-Mexican-men that mske the normal people droll. He loves her she loves him. Hurray! Read it-it's awesome.
Rating: Summary: Angel Creek Review: Normally, I really like Linda Howard. However, with Angel Creek I was more than a little disappointed. It wasn't very deep; actually, it was pretty shallow. All Luke could think about was sex, and I can understand that with a romance, but it wasn't very clear he even cared for her until the very end. A good time passer, but not worthy of a space on the shelf.
Rating: Summary: Angel Creek, Double C, Bar B... Review: Set in the late 1800s, Prosper, Colorado. Dee Swan has lived alone for 5 years after her parents died. She lives in a little cabin on a plot of land called Angel Creek just outside of the town of Prosper. She is self suffient, growing her own vegetables, enough to feed herself and to sell to the local grocery store in town. The rest of her land lies fallow but is much prized by the local ranchers for its lush fields fed by the abundantly flowing creek.
One of those ranchers is the dark and handsome Lucas Cochran, who owns the most prosperous ranch in the area. As Lucas woos Dee they find themselves falling head over heels into a heated and passionate affair. But nothing will make Dee give up her independance which she has through owning Angel Creek. Lucas is not the only person after Angel Creek. Others in the area will try all ways to persuade Dee to give up her beloved land, even violence.
I loved the character of Dee because she is such a strong heroine, looking after herself and protecting her land. Lucas was a real gentleman and treated Dee as an equal, even though she is not from the same social circles as himself. Their encounters are sensual and passionate. The story is also held together by danger and suspense. This is my first book by Linda Howard and I was pleasantly surprised. I can't wait to order more books by Linda Howard. A very enjoyable read indeed!

Rating: Summary: STORY WAS EXCELLENT BUT ------------------ Review: The basic story of Angel Creek was excellent. The ruthless character of Lucas Cochrane was typical. The developement of the independent woman, Dee Swann making her a strong woman in a man's world was great. But the seductive-rape of Dee Swann by Lucas and the outcome was not typical of the women of the 1800's. Most had more moral fear or moral guts than is being portrayed.Plain old horny sex does not make a love story. I am glad that I can seperate a good story from the immoral ingredients [sex before marriage] used to sell a book. But authors in general follow the same old, same old - probably egged on by their editors. There should be more to a story than plain old passion - which needs to be developed to love. Not used as a focus of the story. A bit of action was incorporated in the shoot-out - finally a little fear of lose by Lucas and Dee's devastation as the lose of Angel Creek balanced out a bit of the guff. Even Luis, with his gentleness, went too far. The two really believeable ones were Kyle Bellamy and Tillie - true to form. Ah well, recommended with reservations -- great story but not for my library.
Rating: Summary: Good read Review: The story is set in Prosper, Colorado. A story of an ambitious man (Lucas Cochran) that goes back to Colorado after a ten year absence. In order to make his ranch sucessful, he needs the water from Angel Creek owned by Dee Swann. Fights and tension are present thoughout the book and like many of other Linda Howard books, the love scenes sizzle!
Rating: Summary: Oh WOW!! Review: This book blew me away. I am spell bound. When I finished this book I had to take a few minutes to breath because my heart was still pounding. My heart was pounding throught the whole book for one reason or another. There is not one thing that I did not like in this whole book. Dee was wonderful. I loved her character more then any other in the book. She was a wonderful woman. Her character was great. I dont think I have read of a heroine that I have ever liked more then Dee. Lucas was great too. I loved to see their wills crash and watch the sparks fly. You got to see the feelings between them grow and it was really amazing. This story was real and the characters were alive. Dee had so much spunk. I loved to watch her battle Lucas and win.
It was also nice to see Luis from A Lady of The West. That was really nice to see that he was happy at the end of this book after what he went through in A Lady. There is nothing this book did not have. The characters are great, main and supporting. The plot is good and the story to fill it is magical. I felt at home in Angel Creek and if only there was really a place like that. This was a fairy tale for me. Im so glad that I found this book, it will keep me company for many years to come.
Rating: Summary: A great book! Review: This book is one of the reasons why Linda Howard is one of my favorite authors. The only reason why people have given it such low ratings is because they are used to the standards they have set for Linda Howard books. But on its own, compared to the books by most of the authors out there, Angel Creek is definitely one of those rare finds that makes putting up with having to skim through mediocre novels worthwhile.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Characters Review: This was a very good book...and different. I say that because the secondary couple, Olivia and Lewis Fonteras, seemed to me to have equal time in the story with the lead characters. Usually this would annoy me because in most instances secondary characters are never as developed, and you never get to see what really happens to them. But in this story I ended up loving them even more than the lead characters. There was a true love between the couple and a beautiful coming together. But with the lead characters, Dee Swann and Lucas Cochran, while they were wonderful characters, I was annoyed with Lucas. He was portrayed as being extremely selfish in my point of view. He cared about Dee, but mostly it seemed to me that he just "wanted" her. All in all this was a great book. Definitely a keeper.
