Summary: Highly Disappointed
Review: After having read A Lady of the West, I must say that Angel Creek was highly disappointing. It's only saving grace was near the end when the cabin was under attack. Aside from that, I found this book long and torturous. It was nothing at all like A Lady of the West, which was action packed and plot turning and twisting. Angel Creek was slow to burn and fleeting in flame. I was very disappointed. The fact that the hero was only after sex from the beginning on didn't help to polish him over either. This seems to be a recurring theme with all of Howard's heroes (since I am also reading "Heart of Fire" too). Personally, I'm just not sold on that idea, that the man's focus gets turned onto wanting this one woman so much, it's become a distraction to even the reader. In this sense, Howard is beginning to sound a lot like Julie Garwood, where it's if you've read one, you've read them all. The setting may be different but the stories become predictable and redundent of each other. I hope that Midnight Rainbow and Heart of Fire will prove it otherwise. I only give this book 2 stars because of the shoot out scene. If it weren't for that, I'd have given it a one star.

Summary: SIZZLING READ OF THE WILD,WILD WEST
Review: ANGEL CREEK by Linda Howard boasts compelling characters like Dee Swann and Lucas Cochran in a Western frontier. Dee is a resilient woman ready to defend her Angel Creek from the ambitious Lucas in his expansion of his ranch, but is unwittingly caught in a web of passion with this man who had roused her desires like no other.

The secondary romance between Olivia and Luis Fonteras is much more subtler and tender. Both of the stories are served with passionate love scenes bound to keep readers fanning off the heat. However, the chemistry between Dee and lucas seemed just a tad too fast and developed.

Nevertheless, LINDA HOWARD did it with this one again - strong-willed characters in a tussle of love in a glorious frontier. It is an emotional read with Dee fending herself and letting go of her assuring independence for Lucas and her Angel Creek.

ANGEL CREEK is no doubt one compelling read that sizzles and brings out all that heated smoldering flames in the wild, wild west.

Summary: A GREAT BOOK!!!!!!!!!!
Review: Great characters and a great plot and setting.

If I could give this book more then 5 stars I would've. Angel Creek is a great book that you'd love to read and want to read time and time again.

It was really well written the way Howard connected all of the different character and stories. I also loved the fact that there was an epilogue saying what happened to all of the characters later on in life.

If you are looking for a book with passion, sincerity and love, then Angel Creek is the book for you.

Summary: NOT HER BEST BUT GOOD ENOUGH
Review: Had it been any other author I would probably have given this book a 3, but I can't do that to LH. Love her books!!!! This is not as good as Touch of Fire or Lady of the West but it still has all the LH touches. A real man for the hero and a fiesty independent woman for the heroine who is forced to accept our hero's help (thank goodness). Sexy love scenes, shoot 'em up fight, and a happy ending. It's a keeper as far as I'm concerned!

Summary: ONE OF HER BEST
Review: I COULDN'T PUT IS DOWN. THIS WAS MY FIRST LINDA HOWARD BOOK THAT I READ. IT WAS SO GOOD THAT I HAVE READ IT AGAIN AND AGAIN. I LOVED THE WAY SHE WROTE ABOUT THE WHOLE TOWN AND NOT JUST THE TWO MAIN CHARACTERS.

Summary: I love Linda Howards books, I just can't put them down
Review: I have never been much into a western type theme in romance books, but I could not put this one down, I read it in one sitting. I loved this book!

Summary: Angel Creek a bit dried up
Review: I love Linda Howard. I have read every book of hers in print and it's a happy day when a new one comes out.

I bought this one when it first came out, and being a die hard fan, I've even re-read it. But it is far from her best book, and there is a scene at the end, just before the hero, Lucas, realises how wrong he's been, that is down right disturbing.

Dee is a good heroine, in that she is tough and smart and hardworking, but Lucas is not as good a hero. I think Howard's contemporaries are better than her Westerns, and that this is her weakest Western.

If you absolutely have to have it, then buy it, but otherwise, try another - she's a great writer, but this one sinks...

Summary: A sexy western
Review: I've always loved the tough-as-nails cowboy hero and Lucas is just that. I also liked Dee's independent nature. These two are quite a match. I know that other readers were disturbed by the scene in which Lucas first has sex with Dee, but I must admit it's one of the most sexually explosive scenes I've ever read in a romance novel. It's starts off as a fight and quickly develops into overriding lust. I know it's not PC to like this type of thing, but from my vantage point (i.e., from my safe distance on the recliner where I know that romance novel heroes really love their heroines) it's Sexy (notice the capital "S").

The only thing I didn't like about this novel was something that another critic has also noted: Dee's willingness to carry on an affair with Lucas. It's implausible that a woman of strong integrity like Dee would have an affair. I was disappointed in her character for capitualating to Lucas so easily.

Summary: Cute book
Review: If you're looking for a good book with heroic characters and a quaint story behind it, read Angel Creek. I have to admit, it's a change from the rest of LH's books, but that doesn't deface it's value.

A sidenote - one of Angel Creeks characters is originally from A Lady of the West. Pleasant surprise, seeing as how I didn't want A Lady of the West to ever end.
