Summary: Unique, Tantilizing, Breathtaking. A must read
Review: This story depicts one of the best vampire stories I have ever read. Grigori, very sexy, smart and handsome knows what he wants and gets it. I highly recommend reading this book. I couldn't put it down. Stayed awake until 2:00am to finish the book. You'll want to hold for safekeeping.

Summary: Mixed feelings...
Review: This was definitely an interesting story. Great suspense in the beginning thru the middle, sort of loses a bit of steam toward the end. The hero was wonderful and you can't help but feel for him. The heroine was a bit ho-hum, not much depth with her. At first you love her, then it's almost as if you could blame the author for making you turn against her. She goes from strong and compassionate to simpering and immature. Not enough to make that much of an impact, just a bit annoying.

The author also seems to hint at a lot of things like her blood being the sweetest he's ever tasted. Are they drawn together by something more than just plain old-fashioned attraction? It's never clear! You never get a strong understanding of how these vampires live. It's as if all we need to know are the bare facts: yeah, they live forever, it gets boring, they drink blood yady, yada, yada. At one point when one of the characters is turned into a vampire, two seconds later he says, "Well, I guess I'll be going." I'm no expert, but it struck me odd... that he might need a few pointers in his new "lifestyle?" Not to mention shock that seemed more like surprise then instant acceptance!?

I wish I hadn't wasted my time with this one, but only because I have over 300 in my TBR pile that have been calling to me. It's a pleasant enough read. I just can't help comparing it to Christine Feehan's "Dark" series or Sherrilyn Kenyon's "Dark Hunters" series. Both of those authors have created such awesome worlds and their books are, well, better than chocolate! Really.

Summary: A VAMPIRE ROMANCE....
Review: This was my first vampire book by Amanda Ashley and i must say it was a catcher. The romance was wonderful,Gregori really knows how to make a woman feel exrta special.I felt sorry for Gregori's past,it was what made him a vampire in the first place and seeking revenge from Alexi the undead who killed his family. It wasn't just a vampire story but it had time travel, action, and ofcourse love.Enjoyed reading it.

Summary: vampire love story
Review: This was the first Amanda Ashley book I had read. Though cringed a little at the stereotypical romance cover, I decided to give it a try.

"Shades of Gray" is the story of Grigori, a two hundred year old vampire and Marissa, a modern day woman who plays the leading lady in this work. There are several secondary characters including the evil Alexi, also a vampire, and Ramsey, a vampire hunter. The story begin with Marissa inadvertenly reawakening Alexi after he had been bound for a hundred years. Both Ramsey and Grigori are hunting Alexi, though for very different reasons. Ramsey out of a sense of duty and the belief all vampires are evil, and Grigori out of a need for revenge for past wrongs.

Ashley is wonderful in creating characters that are likeable and believeable. Her scenes are unique and set well. She created interesting dilemnas for her characters that could easily have led this to be a great work.

Sadly all those conflicts led to a flat ending and a so so story.

One major annoyance for me was the repetition of descriptions. I lost count of how many times Ashley described Grigori's voice as sounding as "rich as chocolate" or "dark chocolate" or "chocolate velvet." And so on it went. He was described over and over when once would really have been enough.

The dilemna of Grigori's late wife and Marissa's burgeoning relationship with Ramsey could have added so much to this story but it is all blithely ignored and everything wrapped up nice and neat. The fact that Marissa seems a strangely weak character helped not at all. Her whole life seems to revolve around being alone and going to and from work. No one really inquires about her life, even when she disappears for days on end.

The first half of the book is a series of "go away and come back" scenes as Marissa and Grigori struggle to decide if they want to be together or not. The same scene of kissing and then Grigori fleeing lest he take Marissa's blood is seen at least three times and gets boring after awhile.

For a light afternoon read go for it. For a keeper keep on looking.
