Rating: Summary: I was enthralled Review: Rap superstar, Animalistic, was the king of his rap world. He is such an unlikely central character in such an endearing romantic novel but I promise you, reading Rap Superstar will take you away. I couldn't put the book down; I read it in less than 4 hours because I was so enthralled with the characters and the story. This is the way we all envision romance. Animalistic A.K.A. Anthony Talbert, because of his stardom as a rapper had women falling all over him. For the chance to sleep with a mega star women threw themselves at him, he had his choice of women on a daily basis. But when he made it to Greensboro, North Carolina- all of that changed. It was in this city that he met Randi Jacobs. With his usual cocky self he decided that she would be his prize the next night after his concert, he gave her a personal invitation to attend that night's after set. Because she was captured by his stardom and joked with her friend Kathy that he was her baby daddy, she went to the party after she got off work. Much to her chagrin, it wasn't what she was into- she simply wasn't that type of girl. Once Animalistic discovered this, a change overtook him and he simply must capture Randi. As the story progresses, Anthony pulls out all the stops to capture Randi's heart. Here is a woman, who demands to be treated as a lady and has high standards for her personal conduct as well as how she allows others to treat her. Anthony cannot resist this and is hopelessly drawn to Randi. Because of a bad relationship, Randi is resistant to his advances but the chased is eventually captured. Anthony is a different man from Animalistic and Randi learns this and returns the love. Anthony is the product of a loving mother and father who celebrated their thirtieth wedding anniversary during his courtship with Randi. Meeting his parents strengthened her desire to find a lasting love. As the plot progresses, we experience the highs and lows in their relationship which makes this love story so captivating. With each turn of the page, the reader experiences what life in love is about and how couples work out their differences and strengthen their love. You won't be disappointed in this hip-hop love tale.
Rating: Summary: wonderful story Review: Rap Superstar, Anthony Talbert, a.k.a. Animalistic has everything he wants from all the fame he can stand, the money and any woman that he wants. Until he meets Randi, an aspiring writer/filmmaker who has had her heartbroken one to many times.Anthony thinks he can just use Randi for sex, but Randi isn't having it. She lets him know up front that she is a big fan, but she isn't one of his regular "hoochie" groupies. Anthony realizes that he can't let her get away because she is one of the good ones. So he goes out of his way to try and impress her. Eventually ,everything turns out for the best. For a first time novelist, Ms. Clayton did a wonderful job with the story.I enjoyed reading this book. I found it to be very interesting. I am expecting big things out of Ms. Clayton.
Rating: Summary: Broken Hearts Review: Rap Superstar: A Hip Hop Love Story, a debut novel by Debra Clayton provides readers with an urban epic, turned into a modern day romance. Meet Anthony Talbert, a.k.a. Animalistic, a well-known rapper and playa who has no desire for women except for one thing. Blinded by stardom, Anthony gets any and everything he wants until he meets a real woman, Randi Jacobs, who refuses to adhere to his doggish advances. Randi Jacobs has been by herself for over a year and has had her fair share of bad relationships. The last thing Randi has on her mind is letting the guard down that has surrounded her heart, especially after she meets her "future baby daddy", the name she uses when referring to her favorite rapper Animalistic. After seeing Anthony for what he truly stands for, being by her self is even more pleasurable than she thought. Unable to sit back and except no, Anthony is dead set on winning Randi over. To prove his worthiness his first lesson is to change his ways and be the respectable man he was raised to be. Now the decision lies on Randi, is she ready to love again? A woman who has had her heart broken over and over again is sometimes referred to as "damaged goods". As woman we tend to focus our lives around the past without moving on or letting go, allowing the hurt to magnify. Rap Superstar: A Hip Hop Love Story, reiterates the understanding of ones' life even if you have to walk in that persons' shoes to understand what love is all about. Rating: Summary: Off the chain Review: This book was off the chain. Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down until I read the last page. Debra Clayton is a force to be reckoned with. If her debut novel has any indication of what we should expect from her, I would say this sister has a promising career.
Rating: Summary: hip hop in love.... Review: This is definitely a hip hop love story. Well constructed. Debra Clayton has gone behind the scenes to show that supestar Animalistic wants to give up his playa status. Randi Jacobs lets Animalistic know that she is not a groupie and even though she is a fan. Animalistic almost has it all and just when he is accomplishing the inevitable and he has it all, he allows the "lady" to blow it for him. Randi cannot believe that he has done this to her, no matter how much money you have, how fine you may be, mansions, ice dripping on your wrist, love will bring you to your knees. This story is a turbulant ride, but that is how love goes. You are up and flying high one day and then the next you are low and scraping the ground, when you start to get back up, you do have some scars and bandaids. Some cuts and breaks take years to mend. This is a easy read.
Rating: Summary: Great story, horrible proofing and editing....... Review: This is really a very good story, which was almost ruined for me by the lack of editing and proofreading. There were errors on almost every page, the writing switched from 2nd to 3rd person and the punctuation was either very over or underused in spots. I did finish this book and enjoyed the story. This book delved into the life of a rap star without resorting to gangster cliches or using a lot of curse words to make the story "real". This writer has real promise - I hope her next book will be presented more professionally.
Rating: Summary: Hip Hop Love Story Review: What girl doesn't fantasize about meeting her favorite star, falling in love and getting married? Well Randi Jacobs does just that. A purely coincidental encounter with her favorite rapper, Animalistic, sends Randi on a whirlwind for the next year of her life.
Animalistic, is your typical rapper - young, dumb and full of mistakes. The biggest mistake he could ever make was to think that Randi was the typical groupie. After a dose of "reality check" he realizes that there is more to life than being a player.
Together, Randi and Animalistic, whose real name is Anthony, teach each other to trust, believe and most importantly love. Capturing one another's hearts was no easy task but keeping them that's a whole different matter. They are going to have to endure the time apart, groupies and all the other things that go along with the lifestyle that they have. Unfortunately, one of them is going to be put to the ultimate test and only time will tell if they passed it. Will this Bad Boy and his Queen make it or will they wind up like so many other celebrity couples?
Rap Superstar is Debra Clayton's first novel. Full of hip-hop flavor it's definitely going to be noticed. A little realism, a little fantasy, Rap Superstar is a nice and easy read.
