Summary: the best romance book I've ever laid my hands on.
Review: I inherited my first romance book from my aunt, and it happened to be the first edition of "The Wolf and the Dove", all yellowed and certainly much older than I am. But it couldn't have been a better book, because it is simply the best book I've ever read in my whole life. I've treasured it like an heirloom. Sure, there was a near-rape scene. But c'mon, it set the whole tone of the story from there on. I totally love the characters in this novel. My only comment is the improbability of a woman being "flame-haired and violet-eyed." Wow, that is near impossible, but it only made Eislinn seem more magical. And made the story all the more magical too. Reading this novel, at a very early point in my life, set my standards for novels I read in the future, If it didn't move me anywhere near how "The Wolf and the Dove" did, I'd give the book to the next passer-by. I've judged all my historical romance books this way. I've never read a romance novel that nears this one by a foot. Everytime I read it I still feel the palpitation in my chest, and feel all the wrath-cum-love that Eislinn and Wulfgar have inside them. This book is a classic, a must-have that every self-respecting historical romance reader must have in his or her shelf. And strangely, this book never seems to gather dust - it's always being read again, and again, and again.

Summary: BUMMER
Review: This author's writing style is superb, too bad the first part of the book had rape in it. It ruined the book for me.

Summary: woodiwiss is THE best
Review: this is the best "romance novel" I have ever read. I still have my original copy and I read it at least once each year. Exciting, inspiring, etc. Only problem, no new woodiwiss books.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The best medieval historical romance I've read so far.
Review: I bought this book based on the ratings the other readers have given it. Now I add my voice to theirs. This book is a real page turner. I already have plans to read it again.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This is the one that got me hooked forever!!
Review: As I traveled into the world of Aislin and Wulfgar some twenty years ago, I became the number one fan of Ms. Woodiwiss. She is by far the best romance writer of this century. Each one of her books is better than the last. I have read Shanna, my personal favorite, at least ten times and will never tire of it. My only complaint is that Kathleen Woodiwiss' books are not often enough!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: yeah, it is a classic
Review: this book is one of my all time favorites. The reason I like it so much is it is memorable. How many times have you read a romance novel, six monthes later, you can not come up with a story line, character, etc??? Wulfgar is right up there with Heathcliff and Rhett

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I was impressed.
Review: I usually don't read romance novels, but as historical fiction, this book really stood out. I was impressed by the attention to detail and historical accuracy. My mom stole my copy, so it looks like I'll have to order the reissued version.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This is one of the best books ever written!
Review: A true romance novel. This book kept me turning the pages. I still read this book when ever I can. All of Ms. Woodiwiss' books are fantastic and I have read every one. I recommend this and any of her others to anyone.

Summary: THE BEST MEDIEVAL ROMANCE EVER WRITTEN.
Review: As some other readers have mentioned, this was my 2nd romance novel too (the 1st being KW's The Flame & The Flower). Now, 20+ yrs & uncountable romance books later, this one still stands out as the best medieval romance i've ever read. The time, the characters, the events, all come to life under KW's skillful writing (how i wish she would write another one like this). The passion between Wulfgar & Aislinn is palpable & contrary to some readers' comments, there is no real rape of the heroine (i would never be able to stomach that). The story gives a vivid account of the Battle of Hastings (albeit, more from the normans' perspective) & paints a true picture of a mighty warrior - Wulfgar - i still smile when i think of him *s*, & a strong woman - Aislinn - her strength lies in her wisdom & gentleness. All in all, a wonderful book that you will find yourself reading over & over again (my original finally fell apart). Enjoy!

Summary: One of the Best I have ever read.
Review: This book I believe is one of the best that's if you like love. I read this book and I fell in love with it. It's a story of getting over but not forgetting the past and going on. Through tough times and feelings that confuse she fights for her people and her mother and herself. Never giving in even when the impossiable comes she keeps her faith! The new lord of the land will fall in love with her and her with him for a story for the books!
You don't have to believe me but what I write is what I feel and if you feel as though I do I would suggest that you read this because I know you would be very pleased and would want to buy it as I have.
