Rating: Summary: Easily one of the best romance novels I have ever read. Review: I have read hundreds of romance novels and am partial to the historical romance novel. The Wolf and the Dove impressed me right off with the character development and the detail used in the novel. I was very impressed with the consistency in the type of language the author used--right down to the narrative. I've read this book dozens of times and it ranks high on my list of all-time favorites.
Rating: Summary: My favorite book Review: This was my second Woodiweiss book and I loved it. I stayed up till 2 reading it because it was soooooo good. I loved the charactors and the storyline. It is worth 10 stars but 5 will have to do.
Rating: Summary: My favorite book of all time!!!!!! Review: This was my second romance novel that I first read at age 13 or 14, the first being The Flame and the Flower. At age 35, I still have to read The Wolf and the Dove atleast once a year. Each time I read it, I catch something else in the story and fall in love with the characters all over again. If you enjoyed this story, you may want to read Roberta Gellis' "Bond of Blood". This is my second favorite romance novel.
Rating: Summary: yuck Review: this book was just horrible. it was one of the cruelest book's i've ever read. the hero chians the heroine's mother to a fence for crying out loud! do yourself a favor and don't read it!
Rating: Summary: One of my first, one of the best. Review: In my mid-teens, this was the second romance novel my mother shared with me (the first being 'The Flame and the Flower'); I have read it many times since. The cover and several pages have fallen off/out, but have not been lost. This new cover is so pretty I may have to replace the 'family' copy. Simply one of the best romances I have ever read. These wonderful tales have led me to read all of her works, finding some better than others, but 'Wolf and the Dove' will always be at the top of my list.
Rating: Summary: tremendous story line, shame about the historical accuracy Review: I first read The Wolf and the Dove when I was fifteen, and I've read it several times since. Kathleen Woodiwiss is so over the top that she gets away with it. Her novels are always page turning, fun reads. Wulfgar and Aislinn make a terrific couple, although I marginally prefer Shanna and Ruark as top Woodiwiss hero and heroine. Unfortunately I can only give The Wolf and the Dove three stars because the historical accuracy is dreadful. Wulfgar and Aislinn are assaulted by someone throwing potatoes in London for example, but potatoes were not introduced into England in until the late 16th century. Velvet was an unknown fabric in 1066. Decent girls wore wimples (a rectangular piece of cloth draped over the head to hide the hair), Norman war horses were small animals standing no higher than fifteen hands etc etc etc etc. If you're looking for quality historical romance rather than a purely fun, fantasy read, you'd do better to look at the novels of Roberta Gellis or Elizabeth Chadwick, who at least know what they're talking about!
Rating: Summary: Utterly Superb! Review: This book is the first romance novel I've ever read and it pretty much started me into reading others. Basically Woodiwiss is a boring author but she carried this one quite splendidly. I will never forget the amout of tears I've shed and the heartwrenching emotions the book brought out of me. Wulfgar and Aislinn will be forever etched in my mind and hopefully yours. A must read!
Rating: Summary: It was completly EXCELLENT Review: This was my first Woodiwiss book and I fell in love with it I have read it several times and I will always remember the story of Wulfgar and Aisllin!
Rating: Summary: I have to reply again! Review: this tale is unbelievably written, I am now in about my 25th time reading it. I cannot help but read it, I cannot put it down! It is borrowed from a friend and I refuse to give it back until I can get my own1 *laff* Sorry Jenn!
Rating: Summary: Enchanting Tale of Love and Conquest! Review: Aislin, a beautiful saxon woman with swirling crimson curls and violet eyes finds her homd taken over by the heartless Bastard, Norman lord, Wulfgar. Full of daring conflicts and heart-wrenching showings of love, the two find themselves drawn together in an embrace for all eturnity! A page turner all the way, from first word to last!
