Summary: Perfect historical romance, a treasure to take you away!
Review: This book captivated me, held me spellbound, I fully enjoyed every minute of it. I am not a romance fan, I usually stick to novels and historical fiction. But this book was great, just what the doctor ordered for me to read while recovering from a bad flu. Enough romance, enough mystery, enough history, enough character-building.... good job!

Summary: Men!
Review: When I was reading this book all I wanted to do was smack Wolfguar! It always seemed like he wouldn't open his eyes, but once he did he was a man above men.

It keep me interested up until the last word. Beautifully written!

Summary: Breathtaking, Thoroughly Entrancing
Review: This is my favorite of Kathleen Woodiwiss' books. I have them all, and find re-reading them a great pleasure. The Wolf and The Dove I have re-read countless times. Ms. Woodiwiss captures the feel of the time with her breathtaking descriptions of all that transpires. I never finish a book that I don't feel a certain loss, like I too was a character in the story. My favorite author, Ms. Woodiwiss, my heart shall surely break if you cease to write your wonderful creations.

Summary: Wonderful Woodiwiss
Review: This was my 3d Woodiwiss book. Read "Stranger in my Arms" which was OK. Several years have gone and then this month I read the "Flame and the Flower". Better and better. Then the "Elusive Flame" - 4 and 1/2 stars, followed by the "Wolf and the Dove" Great book. Ms Woodiwiss writes in great depth and breadth - beautifully developing her characters. Also, the books have a satisfying length packed with fascinating writing, rather than a flimsy premise stretched to a thinly contrived, and eventually boring, missive. I just finished "Shanna". Loved it. It gets at least 5 stars. Now, am starting "A Season Beyond a Kiss". Wish there was more to choose from, but when a writer starts putting out quantity, the quality is either very uneven (Betina Krauhn, Elizabeth Lowell), or is missing altogether. Keep writing Dear Kathleen and give us more Wulfgars and Aislynns.

Summary: A saucy fairy tale
Review: As I started reading this book I never thought I'd become so hypnotized by its plot and the wonderful characters. The action streches from beginning to end, leaving you to want more of this fairy tale. The humor and anger concieled in the dialogues was a pleasant suprise. The ending was exciting and I look forward to reading other novels from Kathleen E. Woodwiss.

Summary: I don't usually read romances but this is a fantastic book!
Review: OK, so some of the historical details aren't entirely accurate -- this is a terrific book. I first came across it at the age of 16, when one of my bunkmates at summer camp loaned me her copy. I was riveted -- and purchased my own copy right after camp! 18 years later, I was going through a box of old books and re-discovered this book. It's even better reading now than it was then! The characters are well drawn -- not only the main couple, Wulfgar and Aislinn, but the supporting characters as well. Adventure, love and happy endings for the good people, and the bad people get what they deserve! I would particularly recommend this book if you're in need of a good read whilst lying on the beach this summer, or on a long boring airplane flight - the time will speed by and you are guaranteed to be swept up in this tale! Terrific!

Summary: Classic romance at it's best!
Review: In the time of William the Conqueror, two people sworn to hate forged a love so strong it would overcome any obstacle. Thus is the story of Wulfgar and Aislinn. _The Wolf and the Dove_ is a tale full of passionate love and bitter war all set amid scenery so well described you feel that you are transported to another time and place. You'll feel as though you walk the footpaths and as if you are part of the action. Ms. Woodiwiss has a rare talent to join words together that makes them seem as if they come to life. The characters are vibrant and well fleshed out. The interaction between the characters is some of the best I've ever seen. Their wit is matched well against each other and it makes for *very* enjoyable scenes. Wulfgar is infuriating and exasperating and even though he tries to hide it you can sense a tenderness buried deep under the surface. There are glimpses of a little boy inside of him seeking love. That said, he still remains a mystery. Most times you can't figure out what he's thinking, which makes him all the more appealing. You respect him for not immediately forcing himself upon Aislinn. It is quite humorous to watch him struggle with his feelings for Aislinn while at the same time still trying desperately to cling to his hatred of women. Aislinn is one of the finest examples of a romantic heroine. She is brave, passionate and often sets the hero on his ear. _The Wolf and the Dove_ is a lively story that will keep you turning the pages quickly and never wanting it to end. A fine example of Ms. Woodiwiss at her all-time best.

Summary: THE BEST MEDIEVAL ROMANCE EVER WRITTEN.
Review: As some other readers have mentioned, this was my 2nd romance novel too (the 1st being KW's The Flame & The Flower). Now, 20+ yrs & uncountable romance books later, this one still stands out as the best medieval romance i've ever read. The time, the characters, the events, all come to life under KW's skillful writing (how i wish she would write another one like this). The passion between Wulfgar & Aislinn is palpable & contrary to some readers' comments, there is no real rape of the heroine (i would never be able to stomach that). The story gives a vivid account of the Battle of Hastings (albeit, more from the normans' perspective) & paints a true picture of a mighty warrior - Wulfgar - i still smile when i think of him *s*, & a strong woman - Aislinn - her strength lies in her wisdom & gentleness. All in all, a wonderful book that you will find yourself reading over & over again (my original finally fell apart). Enjoy!

Summary: Wolf and the Dove
Review: Can you believe this book is 25 years old - and is still a great romancer? This novel is one of the first great historical romances. Like other reviewers of this book, I read it originally when I was a teen and was mesmerized by the bravery and dignity of Aislinn and left uneasy by the violence and sexual exploitation of some of the male characters. Like other reviewers I have read this book many times. Many others have imitated Woodiwiss' plot, hero, and heroine - even Woodiwiss has found it difficult to duplicate it -but the magic of this story is impossible to duplicate. A must read.

Summary: One of my absolute favourite stories
Review: This was one of the first Kathleen Woodiwiss stories that I had ever read, and it has reamined an all time favourite ever since. The development of the relationship between Wulfgar and Aislynn is superbly written. Aislynn is able to keep her dignity despite all that the hardships that she has had to endure. The love between Wulfgar and Aislynn grows in a manner that you find totally believable. Their passion for each other is consuming. A wonderfully written story that is still a delight to read over and over again.
