Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Review: This wasn't nearly as good as THE FLAME AND THE FLOWER and A ROSE IN THE WINTER but i liked it. The parts about the battles were really boring but the ending was really good. So if you start to read this book and start to find it getting kind of boring just keep reading because it gets better don't worry.
Rating: Summary: One of my all-time favorites -- couldn't put it down!! Review: This was the first romance novel I read as a teen and now years later I re-read it and loved it just as much as the first time. Lot's of great scenes -- sizzling, smoldering romance with the hero. A great read!
Rating: Summary: Love Conquers All! Review: This is hands-down the best mediaeval romance I have ever read - possibly the best romance, full stop (This Loving Torment, Gypsy Lady, and Ashes On The Wind are close runners for that title). I first read it at around fourteen (it was my mother's) and since then have read it so many times I cannot even begin to count. It never fails to thrill me, make me laugh out loud, make me cry... and remind me how damn much I love my husband. After closing the final page I always go to him and thank him for being my very own "Wulfgar". This book will always occupy a special place in my heart as well as a place of honour on my bookshelves.
Rating: Summary: Good book.. but it could have been better.. Review: Dont get me wrong. I Adored the book. In fact I lost two nights sleep over it. The only thing I didnt like about it is; it was too detailed. I wanted to read more about the two main characters. How the interact with each other, how their relationship blossoms... etc, NOT how the battle progressed (and what not) Apart from that, Wolf and The Dove is a definite Keeper!
Rating: Summary: One word....YUCK!!!!!!! Review: Let me just say right now that THIS REVIEW ONLY REFERS TO THE "ROMANCE ALIVE" AUDIO VERSION!!! In print, I loved it. It was this book that first attracted me to romance novels in general, and medievals in particular. I consider it one of my all-time favorites. Unfortunately, the good people at Romance Alive saw fit to destroy it. They took something beautiful and mutilated it, leaving out entire characters and scenes that I consider VERY important to the story...all in the name of squeezing it onto a single cassette tape. My advice to anyone even remotely interested in purchasing this version: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! You would be better off reading it aloud and recording it yourself.
Rating: Summary: A Great Romance Review: I love reading The Wolf and the Dove. Even with gaps in time, I always come back to reading the Wolf and the Dove. Although this historical romance is set a thousand years ago with the Norman Conquest of England, both the heroe and the heroine represent modern charecteristics that I can relate to. The conflict that prevails between Wolfgur and Aislinn is about the recognition of Aislinn as a person with individual rights rather than a property with no rights. In her pursuit of this recognition from Wolfgur, Aislinn surrenders her body but not her pride to him. And eventhough Wolfgur shows, in his attitudes, manners and actions, that with each passing moment, Aislinn is becoming everything to him, she remains unattainable. The battle of witts between the two rages throughtout the story and results in a lot of subtle displays of dialogues and emotions. The subtlety with which the conflict is developed and resolved makes me go back to certain pages and certain scenes and dialogues over and over again. And each time, it makes for a new revealation. That's why, for me, the story never dimishes in it's charm and interest. The best moments is the surprise which leads to the consumation of their relationship, and the surprise wedding in the end. Ofcourse, there are many more of these best moments between the pages of this story that makes it a memorable reading.
Rating: Summary: I loved this book Review: The Wolf & The Dove is one of my favorites. The characters are strong. I was really happy when Wufgar accepted the baby even before he knew it was his. Woodiwiss writes so you feel you are right there and that you know these people. It is truly a classic and definitely worth reading.
Rating: Summary: Breathtakingly Spellbinding Review: This is one of the greatest books I have ever had the pleasure to read, It is a wonderful love story with a beautiful heroine and a magnificently virile man who loves her and will fight for her to the death. If you love romance, you will love this one. I love Kathleen Woodiwiss, she is by far my favorite writer of all time, her books are all so wonderful you don't want them to ever end. I have bought this book 3 times, I want to keep it always and when it gets lost, borrowed, or just taken I get another copy so I can read it again. I have read all of her books and they are all great.
Rating: Summary: Let's celebrate times of great heroes! Review: „The wolf and the dove" belongs to my most favourite Woodiwiss's books. I love stories where at the beginning hero and heroine stand on the opposite sides, they hate each other and one and only thing they have in common is passion in one bed. And at the end they're not just married couple, but also lovers and friends. I like Wulfgar very much - he is so brave, I wish such knights would walk on earth in nowadays too ... There were only one thing false for me: In 1066 England (and Europe too) knew nothing about potatoes ... because they grew in America and Kolumbus discovered this continent in 1492 ...
