Rating: Summary: Sensational for a debut novel !!! Review: Abbey is sunny and adorable, Michael is handsome but gloomy. The story'll tug at your heart like a wide-eyed puppy. U need to read this book to know what love and perseverance mean. I bought "Wicked Angel" first, but I like this one much better. The ending is also romantic enough to make U crave for more from the author.
Rating: Summary: Charming Love Story Review: Abigail Carrington had loved Michael all her life. From the age of nine when dressed as a pirate she was the `hellion' aboard her father's ship. Michael Ingram, born to privilege but due to his father's considerable gambling debts was working on the ship as a way of somehow helping to keep his father afloat. To him the `hellion' was no more than a spoiled brat and hardly worth a second thought.Twelve years later, Abigail had come to England to fulfill the conditions of her father's will and marry Michael Ingram, now the Viscount Darfield as stipulated in an agreement Michael had signed when he was 19 in order to save his ancestral home. Although, Michael had paid his fathers debts and thought himself free from that agreement, he did not know that behind his back, his father had continued to borrow and he was still in debt and honor bound to marry the `hellion'. Although she had not seen Michael in 12 years, through her father's machinations, she spent the those years believing that Michael loved her, because her father perpetuated the myth over the years sending her gifts, supposedly from Michael, and passed along messages that he couldn't wait to be married, etc.. Abbey, lived and breathed of the dream world that was created for her by her father and was shocked to find the very cold indifference and downright hostility that emanated from the man she was to marry. Michael was furious over her father's will and warned her that she would not be happy and left immediately after the wedding. From this rocky start you have two people, Abbey in love but cast aside, and Michael forced into a marriage he does not want, but not being able to get out of it without creating more scandal. Eventually, her charm overcomes his resentment and they both come to a loving understanding but eventually their idyllic time in the country is spoiled by outside forces that threaten to tear them apart. An old enemy forces a confrontation that threatens the love and trust they worked so hard to build. It is a true test of strength from both, as Michael realizes that he has fallen hopelessly in love with Abbey, but questions her loyalty. And Abbey who knows she loves Michael, would give her life for him - and almost does - yet can she trust her heart to him again. This was so good. Abbey is a delight the person you want to have as a friend, quite charming. Michael is brooding at first but then Abbey's love warms him right up to be a terribly nice person. This is a wonderful story of love and forgiveness, trust and respect. Truly a touching and wonderfully fast paced story. You will find yourself cheering these two on to finally believe in one another and the love they are meant to share. Lovely story!

Rating: Summary: a good start Review: Abigail Carrington sails to England to met with her sweet-tempered long-standing beloved fiance: Michael Ingram, Marquis of Darfield. Unfortunately, and to Abbey's despair, Michael (Mr "Boorfield") turns out not so sweet-tempered or even infact to be her fiance! ... but amongst humourous antics and misunderstandings Abbey and Michael soon realise they are made for each other. This is my first Julia London read, and I also believe Julia's first novel: this was an entertaining read! My only niggling objection to this story is that in the last 1/4 of the book Abbey loses her characteristics that were abundent in the first 3/4 of the book (and made up the main portion of Abbey's character) ... changes from been a spunky wee heroine to a pathetic piece of fluff. I feel that the introduction of the issue from Galen could have been handled slightly differently: that is that the heroine could have said "dammitt" Michael and I are married, used her spunk to join forces with Michael and ended the last 1/4 of the book on a happier note (not so down in the dungeons kind of style). I personally found the last 1/4 of the book tiresome and just too choppy: suddenly a number of obstacles are shoved between our hero and heroine, just when you felt that things should have been sorting themselves out. Despite my comments above, this was a lovely story and great romance to read. With a few changes to the end of this book I would have rated it a 5 star, so one can conclude that Julia London will hopefully be a force to reckon with in the future. My comment on the book in three words: a good start
Rating: Summary: * Sigh...* This book is what romance is all about! Review: After reading all the books from authors like Judith McNaught and Julie Garwood in this genre, I thought I wouldn't find another author that could write like them. But oh, oh, oh, to my surprise Julia London is just as good! This is the first book of Julia London that I've read and Devil's Love is totally scrumptious! The story of Michael and Abby is so delightful, so romantic, so heartbreaking and sooooo good. Abby is sunny, cheerful and adorable and Michael was quite the opposite in the beginning. But later Michael *sigh* turned out to be a wonderful, sexy and a totally fantastic hero! The story line and build up was good and wonderfully written that YOU JUST WOULD NOT WANT TO PUT IT DOWN! If you want to read romance you MUST read this 'coz this book will make you feel like you are the main characters! This book will take you back in time. This book will make you laugh out loud. This book will make you fall in love (again)!
Rating: Summary: Devil's Love Review: Being a new author I was reluctant to buy the book but when I started reading it, it was difficult to put down. Julia London is a VERY promising new author. I can compare her to my 2 favorites, Julie Garwood and Johanna Lindsey. Their books cannot be put down once you have picked them up either. I very much look forward to her next novels. I enjoy learning history facts when I am reading which shows that Julia London is doing her research before she puts the information into her novels. A must read if you like romance, comedy and history all rolled into one book. She has great characters and was I happy to see that she carried them through into her 2nd book. It's more like reading a continuation instead of a completely new book. But, if you read the 2nd book first, you were not lost and didn't realize that there was another book previous with some of the same characters. A must read!
Rating: Summary: Fairly well done Review: For a first-time book, Julia London did a magnificent job with Devil's Love. The characters were well developed and attractive. My only concern would be that Abigail was not quite as spunky as most other romance novel heroines, and that she was a little bit too mushy, gushy and soft for my liking. A little bit more spunk and fire between the two would have been welcome.
Rating: Summary: Excellent! A must read! Review: I absolutely loved Devil's Love. It was a wonderful love story between Michael and Abbey. I couldn't put it down! I read Wicked Angel first and that was just as good. I can't decide which one I liked best but I can't wait to read another one from Julia London. Please don't make us wait long!!!
Rating: Summary: Now this was a romance! Review: I absolutely loved this story. I love dark heroes and Michael certainly was that. But for so many good reasons - everyone either had betrayed him in his life or those he cared about had disappointed or he lost them. Thus, when he finds he must marry a certain young lady who he remembers as a hellion and waif you will not find Michael being pleased. An agreement he signed when he was much younger finds him in this predicament - and if he does not marry Abbey he will loose a substantial fortune and Abbey will loose her entire dowery. Abbey on the other hand thinks falsley that Michael has loved her his entire life as she has forever loved him. So she arrives in England with a romantic notion and Michael is anything but. He is dark, resentful and within hours she is married. Of course Abbey is nothing like Michael expects and of course he finds himself captivated and falling in love. But since he is always expecting the worst he totally balks when a small lie from Abbey sends him into a tailspin and a downword spiral of their marriage that almost seems impossible to correct. This is a strong emotional tail that kept me turning pages through the night. London makes these characters very real and you will not be disappointed in the development of their great love story! Much much better than the later book Wicked Angel!!! Highly recommend this book!!
Rating: Summary: Everyone needs a little romance in their lives Review: I had lunch with a friend a few years ago, and was complaining that I didn't have anything fun to do. I couldn't even find a decent horoscope to adopt for the day! And my friend, having listened to me whine on and on, said, "Why don't you go get a good romance novel and escape for awhile?" And I said, "Well, because it's a romance novel. Duh!" And she frowned and said, "What, you don't like romance? What kind of moron doesn't like a little romance in their lives?" And I said, "I like a little romance in my life as well as anyone, thank you, but it has nothing to do with that. It's just not serious reading." Well. She rolled her eyes way up inside their sockets and down again, stabbed her elbows on the table, leaned forward, and glared at me. And then she started: "First of all, how would you know what kind of 'reading' it is if you have never read one? Serious reading my */#! And secondly, from all the moaning you have done since you showed up here, you don't seem to have any romance in your life at the moment, or have I misinterpreted something between 'jerk' and 'idiot'? And before you try and tell me I'm wrong about that, just tell me what is wrong with reading a book for the sheer enjoyment of a good story? That's what reading is all about! Duh yourself!" Well, I did not take that lying down, not for a minute. I snapped back, "Fine! Give me one to read!" --And I have been hooked ever since! Romance novels are really very entertaining and deal with subjects everyone can relate to. Honestly, I like romance novels so much, I decided to write them! So, for all of you out there who did not get to put on a fancy ballgown today and attend the event of the season where some darkly handsome, rich, to-die-for dude decided he couldn't live without you, I present The Devil's Love for your entertainment. I promise you'll like it! And if you do, Amazon will gladly suggest similar books for your enjoyment -- because they, too, recognize that everyone needs a little romance in their lives.
