Summary: Special :)
Review: This book has all the qualities of a page-turner novel, not just a romance story. The plot blends well with the dashes of romance here and there. And if I say so myself, I actually learned something history-wise from reading it! This book is a treasure, and worth every penny!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Worth more than 5 stars!
Review: This book was wonderful. I couldn't put it down. I wanted to soak up every word, and litteraly sat at the edge of my bed at times while reading it. I just loved the part when Liam told Katherine "I am coming back, and when I do, I am coming for you." I nearly fell off the bed. I am pretty picky when it comes to romance novels, don't like sappy predictable fluff. This book is a definate keeper. I've read it over about 3 or 4 times. I have read several others by this author and the only other that can compare to this is Promise of the Rose worth more than 5 stars also.

Summary: Gr8!!
Review: This is one of the best books I have read by Brenda Joyce. I am currently reading The Conqueror and it is just as good as The Game.
I only wish Ms Joyce would continue to write such hot historical romances forever! I really couldn't care less about her 'Deadly' series. I don't find them as sensual and rich with historical detail as the earlier books. Please get back to writing books that are more along the lines of The Game or The Conqueror!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Intense and romantic!
Review: This is probably the best book I have read by Brenda Joyce(Although I haven't read The Conqueror and its sequel as yet)
Its got a very tight story line which keeps you interested throughout and marvellous lead characters.
I think this is one of the most erotic books written by the author. Its a shame that her later novels are not as sexually charged as her previous ones. If she would have been writing these kind of hot medieval sagas still, I would have purchased all her books!
But after I read The Rival, I was really disappointed and have stopped buying her novels.
This book has it all. A great plot, interesting cast of characters (although she has taken a lot of liberties with the characters of Queen Elizabeth I and Robert Dudley!)
Still, it is a very intense read with really hot love scenes and one of her best novels!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: read almost 300 pages in 2 days, what more can I say!!!!!!!
Review: this is the first book I did not want to end and I am awaiting a sequel to keep the romance, mystery and wonderful love between these two alive and well. My hat is off to Brenda Joyce for creating a world in which we all would like to live where men are still men, chilvary is not dead and a woman knows how to please her man. Alowing these two people to explore their feelings, both love and hate, anger and sorrow slimply made it a non-stopper. hopefully my "pirate in shinning armor" will appear soon and turn out to also be my guardian angel as well.

Summary: My first by Joyce - NOT my last!
Review: This prompted me to get my hands on anything by Brenda Joyce. The intrigue and history are spectacular and you cna really picture the scene. Loved the characters and the "love" scenes... Since reading this I've bought every book by Brenda Joyce that I came across!

Summary: Great Book!!!
Review: This was my first Brenda Joyce novel and now I have them all. This is how good the book is. The novel held me enthralled to the very end. You would not want to put it down for anything and that is exactly what I did. This is definitely a keeper.

Summary: The most depressing book I have ever read!
Review: This was my second book by this author. I read "The Finer Things" and thought that was depressing but decided to give the author another chance. This book was worse! So many horrible things happened to this girl and she fought with the main character for to long before finally realizing her love. If you enjoy light, humorous reading, this is not the one! Two is my limit of Brenda Joyce.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: FANTASTIC!!
Review: wOWSA, what a story!!! The plot is excellent. The characters are spell-binding. Heart pounding action that made it impossible to put the book down!! Each character has been built with credence and believablity. Historcial information interjected into the story adds to the allure of the tale. Not your typical trivial boy meets girl, boy beds girl and love flurishes. A must for those who like deception, piracy, intigue, political manuvering and the steamy passion that goes with it!
