Summary: A Fun Easy On The Eyes Read!
Review: "The Dominant Blonde" by Alisa Kwitney is a fun easy on the eyes kind of read...one that is great to take along to the beach, or perhaps to the park on a lazy afternoon.

The characters are fun and lively. The dialogue one of today. And the plot mysterious and clever.

A fun story that will draw a large reading audience. Nice Job!

Summary: Not what I expected...
Review: After reading the back cover, I had hoped for a fun beach read. This book was a disappointing waste of time. The main character is a sobbing basketcase and the other characters were unlikeable as well. I almost didn't even finish it, but I forced myself to make it to the end.

Summary: Let's Hear it for Kwitney!
Review: As a male, I must admit I started the book thinking it would be the literary equivalent of a "chick flick". Boy was I thoroughly surprised. The tale of Lydia and Liam surpasses genders and is simply about the triumph of love and the fact it can seek us out at the most unexpected of times. What a fun story! I laughed out loud on several occasions, and I would be remiss if I did not mention the sexual overtones of the book - this is a hot tale!

Bravo - I only hope Ms. Kwitney is busy writing her next novel.

Summary: It exceeded my expectations!
Review: I admit it: I judge a book by its cover. When I saw The Dominant Blonde on the shelf, I thought that the book was going to be as good as its weak cover, but a stranger at the bookstore told me that it was great and that I ought to buy it. So I did. Best move I could have made!

Lydia was out on a romantic vacation with Abe, her current beau. When her boyfriend drowns during a diving excursion, she thinks she'll never find someone again, for men see her blonde hair and assume that she is stupid. But when she finds out that Abe has embezzled $3 million from her father, she seeks the help of a sexy Irish scuba instructor -- and gets more than she bargains for.

The Dominant Blonde is an engrossing and sensuous read. By far, one of the best romantic mysteries I have read in quite a long time. Don't be fooled by its silly cover, read this gem! You won't regret it!

Summary: Not what I expected at all!
Review: I am mostly writing this review because I was so irritated with this book! From the title and back cover I figured this book was in the light-hearted chick lit genre, only to realize that this book is the total opposite and not light-hearted at all! I am disappointed that the author chose to advertise it as chick lit, because in the end I wasn't even interested in finishing it. Be warned this is NOT a fun beach read!

Summary: Worst Book of the Year
Review: I bought this book based on the glowing reviews and it makes me wonder what redeeming qualities those other reviewers saw in this book. I guess the plot would be credible with a 13 year old but I can't imagine how anyone could find this book entertaining and Lydia a sympathetic heroine. How could any savvy businessman put $3 million in a checking account? Why would a man about to retire put this amount of money into capital renovations for a hair salon? At what point was he expecting to see a return on his investment? Everyone is so pathetic in this book that it was hardly worth finishing. Do yourself a favor--DON'T BOTHER WITH THIS BOOK!

Summary: What a disappointment
Review: I expected a light read, and got even less than that. Kwitney writes briskly and uses language well; I'll give her that. But the plot was so painfully predictable, the twists so superficial, and the characters so flat that I had a hard time keeping enough interest to finish the book. The sex scenes were absurd, really worthy of the cheesy series romances. In all, I could have spent my time and money in much better ways.

Summary: SUN, DIVING, MYSTERY & A ROMP
Review: I found myself in the bookstore, a half-hour before I needed to meet someone. I didn't really need another book but I just couldn't resist browsing. I came upon a table of books with a sign saying, "Urban Literature." All the books had covers that clearly screamed, "Chick Lit", so I was skeptical of this perceived name change. It seemed to me that someone decided that the current genre name wasn't serious enough and it needed more mass appeal. I found Alisa Kwitney's book "The Dominant Blonde" there.

Lydia Gold is an enigma. Her bleached blonde hair, curvaceous figure, and doe eyes make people want to protect her because they think she has no brains. As one of the characters share, "All (I) had discovered was that she looked and spoke like a glass of Hollywood champagne but she went down like the best Irish whiskey."

If only Lydia had taken her Grandmother's advice about trusting a man: you must know how he spends his money, how he holds his drink, and how he loses his temper. When we meet Lydia she has finally taken this advice. Amazingly, she finds a man like none before. Abe is so taken with Lydia that she overlooks the lack of passion in their relationship; it burns out after all.

While on vacation in Epiphany, Abe goes out diving solo from the dive group. Lydia gets concerned so she gets the captain, Liam MacNally to help look for him. Abe is missing. As Lydia is dealing with tragedy, she finds out Abe has taken three million dollars from her parent's business. Lydia starts putting clues together while cozying up with Liam.

Liam is written as a man with intimate knowledge of how women think. Alisa Kwitney's portrayal of men and women was astounding. I thought she nailed it truer than any other author. The dialogue between Lydia and Liam was so honest and insightful. If only other writers could capture this, we would have higher quality books all the way around.

This is sleeper that doesn't seem to have been marketed, which is unfortunate. "The dominant blonde" is by far my favorite book this year. I now know why the bookstore called that table "Urban Ligature." This is a straight up good read with more substance than your typical "Chick Lit" book. I grudgingly bow to their prowess.

Summary: OK read
Review: I found this book at a discount book store and grabbed it. It sounded interesting. I checked it out on Amazon to see what the general opinion was and here I am. In my opinion I dont think it is full fledge chick-lit. I am not a strictly chick-lit reader, I like all romance. This book was more of a combo. I liked the setting alot and the plot was good. The plot kept unfolding a little more and the way the author wrote this story, you get peaks at what is coming next. Only you dont know if it will play out how you think. We get to see this story from all the characters perspectives, so you know what is going on on all sides, but the characters dont. It really helps with the suspense element, which helps the story out a lot because the suspense is not a main part of the plot. This is a lighter read that has more laughs then suspense.
Along with a great plot and story, the characters were great too. Liam was to die for. He was real and man, the author did a good job of making you really want a piece of him. Lydia was alright too. She was all woman, that is for sure. I did have a small problem with Mrs Lydia. She cries through the whole book! Sometimes it fits the scenes. Her boyfriend did drown, right, but she blubbers through the whole book. I did not see the point in that. It almost made her the seakest heroine that I have ever read and I did not care for that.
Overall it was a good read. Highly entertaining, catchy, fun and absorbing. Liam is a great hero and wonderful lover in this book. I think the author did a great job trying to picture every womans fantasy and make him sound real.
