Summary: THE WINDFLOWER'S DIVERSE CHARACTERS
Review: I FIRST READ "THE WINDFLOWER" WHEN I WAS IN THE 9TH GRADE IN HIGH
SCHOOL. MY OLDER SISTER BOUGHT IT AND LOANED IT TO ME. UNFORTUNATELY, I HAD TO RETURN IT. FOR YEARS I LOOKED FOR IT AS
AN ADULT. FINALLY, I FOUND IT. THE WINDFLOWER IS A GREAT BOOK FOR
ANYONE THAT LOVES ROMANCE BOOKS TO READ, BUT FOR ME IT HAD A MORE
CERTAIN APPEAL TO IT. THE INTENSE SEXUAL ATMOSPHERE BETWEEN DEVON
AND MERRY WAS WONDERFUL AND I COULD NEVER DECIDE IF I WANTED HER
TO END UP WITH DEVON OR CAT. I THINK THAT A SEQUEL SHOULD BE
WRITTEN TO IT, TO LET US KNOW WHAT HAPPENED TO CAT, MORGAN, ETC..
IN SOME WAYS, MERRY WAS LIKE A "CINDERALLA" TYPE THAT KNEW NOTHING ON HER WAY TO ENGLAND, BUT ONCE SHE GOT THERE SHE WON
EVERYONE'S HEARTS. SHE EVEN MANAGED TO CAPTURE DEVON'S HEART, WHO
WAS A LIFE LONG BACHELOR AND LEADING A DOUBLE LIFE. IT'S A VERY
INTERESTING BOOK IN THAT YOU CAN SEE WHERE THE RICH AND FAMOUS
LEAD DOUBLE LIFES, SOMETIMES DANGEROUS LIFES. I LOVE THIS BOOK.
IT'S ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVORITE AND ALWAYS WILL BE. I HAVEN'T READ
ANOTHER BOOK THAT HAS SO CAPTURED MY HEART AS THIS ONE HAS. WHEN
YOU READ THIS BOOK YOU FEEL LIKE YOUR THERE, LIKE YOUR MERRY.

Summary: This is one of the best historical romance novels written.
Review: I first read this novel 10 or so years ago and was blown away by it. It replaced The Flame and The Flower as my all time favorite historical romance. I stopped reading new romance novels about 5 years ago because they cost too much and were boring, but I keep copies of all my old favorites and when I need a pick me up, I pick them up! I'm on my third copy of F&F and second copy of The Windflower. First, the great descriptions of sailing and the pirate atmosphere suck you into the story. The psychological description of Merry's agony, Cat's history and the Duke's double identity are really well done and entertaining. All the side plots are meaningful and relate to the main story. Most amazingly, no explicit sex scenes and the sexual tension throughout the book is very high. I would recommend this book to everyone who loves romance novels, especially historical romance novels. In fact, I think I'll start it again tonight. Note: If you can't find this on the shelf, try used book stores, that's where I got my last copy. Enjoy

Summary: Sheer Perfection
Review: I have read more than my fair share of romance novels, and this one is simply the best (tied with "Rangoon" by Christine Monson, also out of print!) The first time I read "The Windflower," I was beyond words. This was nothing short of sheer perfection. The dialogue, the characters, the emotions, EVERYTHING about this book is so flawless that, as far as I'm concerned, it should be the measuring stick by which all other romance novels are held to. "The Windflower" is the kind of book you read over and over again. Thank you, Sharon and Tom Curtis, thank you.

Summary: I wish I could find a copy of this book !
Review: I read this book about 15 years ago, and to this day, it's the best historical fiction/romance I've ever read. I truly enjoyed it, and would love to re-read it. If only it were still in print ! The author, by the way, is Johanna Lindsey. I am surprised to see her name not listed, as she's a very popular & successful writer !

Summary: not the typical romance
Review: I usually only read regency romances as I find the other types to be completely boring and totally predictable. The Windflower is an exception. I first read this book about five years ago and thought it was a wonderful and exciting read. I just recently read it again and it is my favorite romance novel. The characters are so well written and the book has many facets it isn't the "typical" romance. The pirate aspect gives it an exciting and humorous flair as we see the crew begin to befriend poor bewildered Merry. I would love to read a sequel or two. My favorite characters were Cat and Raven, not the main characters. I would love to see their stories, and the pirate captain Rand Morgan. This book also doesn't portray women in the usual "I will surrender to you" fashion. Although Merry is not strong at first her behavior is as excepted from someone who lead such a sheltered life and is in the predicament she is. All in all a wonderful, exciting, adventerous, and refreshing novel.

Summary: One of my all-time favorite romances
Review: I'd like to join the list below, and comment that this is one of my favorite romance novels of all time, too. There's something about it that sets it above the average book in this genre. I'd also love to know what happens to Raven, Cat and Morgan, and I also wonder what happened to the authors. I'd dearly love to see a sequel to this, as well.

Summary: Best romance ever written!
Review: I'm going to join the multitude of romance readers clamoring for a sequel. I want to read about Cat, and most especially Raven, who's such a sweetheart in the book I almost like him better than the hero. I now have Sharon and Tom Curtis' entire backlist, but I'm limiting myself to one book a year because they're soooo sssllooooww. This book has some of the best dialogue I've ever read, and the occasionally off-color repartee is so quick and deft that I had to stop reading a few times just to chuckle. Do yourself a favor: buy this book and read it.

Summary: The Windflower. Exquisite.
Review: Intelligent, witty, poignant, dramatic, romantic. Tears and belly laughs. Characters I ache to see again. If you like the thoughtful characterization of Laura Kinsale, the crystalline prose of Bramah, the historical accuracy of Gellis, and the laughter and warmth of Krantz you will find them in a happy combination here.

When you hear folks speak scornfully of 'Romance novels' this is the one to put in their hand.

A strong contender for my favorite Romance novel.
