Summary: Decent read but it would help to read the entire series 1st
Review: A Springwater Christmas will no doubt please fans of the "Springwater" series because it appears that every character (and all of their *many* kids) make an appearance here. I hadn't read the previous books and found these people to be nothing more than a huge distraction because they did very little to enhance the love story. But, if you're a fan, you may love seeing these people again.

The main story focuses on Olivia Darling, a grumpy spinster who spent her best years tending for an ailing aunt who thanked her by berating her and destroying her confidence. Now that the horrid aunt has finally died Olivia is free to live her life the way she chooses. Sure that her childbearing years are well behind her she has given up on her dreams of love and family and has instead purchased a boarding house in Springwater.

Olivia's first boarder is Jack McLaughlin, a secretive civil-war survivor looking for a quiet place to rest. These two lonely, wounded souls make an immediate connection but Jack's past haunts him and until he finds peace with himself he is unable to give his heart to Olivia.

Jack makes this often predictable book worth reading. He is simply a wonderful hero who really leaps off the pages. If you have a soft spot for wounded heroes you'll love Jack. Olivia, on the other hand, wasn't as easy to like. She takes the "prickly" heroine to a whole new level and often behaves like a crabby granny rather than a thirty-two year old woman.

Although I wish the author had toned down the constant interruptions made by the secondary characters this was still a better than average romance - all because of Jack. I recommend it with caveats to readers on the lookout for a warm and sweetish Americana.

Summary: A must read
Review: After reading the first 5 books of the "Springwater" series of books by Linda, I didn't think that she would have any more books in her about the settlement!! When lo and behold when I was shopping in the bookstore what should I see, but another book in the series!! It only took me a day and half to get reaquainted with the residents of Springwater and the 2 new residents of Springwater and to hope for the best for then and the 2 most important residents of the settlement. I was not let down and enjoyed the book very much and was very happy with the way it turned out and how happy everybody was at the end of the story. All I can say is keep on writing about the citizens of Springwater, Ms. Miller!!

Summary: What A Series!
Review: I have read through the Springwater Series faster than anything else! It is such a heartwarming frontier town and really makes you feel like you are part of the group.

This book picks up right where Jessica's story left off. At the end of her book, Miss Olivia Darling was saved from the wrecked train and was moving to Springwater to start a boarding house. It's been about a year, and she hasn't had a boarder...until the mysterious Jack McLaughlin shows up on her doorstep. He has a past that he's trying to hide, but also wrestling with whether or not he should reveal his secrets. It goes on from there...

I cried when I read this book. It was touching. It is predictable...as most romance novels are...but it was such a heartwarming tale. Read it!

Summary: A beautiful end to a great romantic series
Review: In 1882, stranger Jack McLaughlin arrives in Springwater, Montana Territory seeking information about Jacob and June-Bug McCaffrey. Surprisingly, Jack fails to stay at the Springwater Station, owned and operated by the McCaffreys. Instead, he becomes the first person to take a room at spinster Olivia Wilcott Darling's boarding house.

Olivia has lived a bitter, lonely life ever since her parents died when she was a child. Her Aunt Eloise raised Olivia, but destroyed the lass' dreams. To her shock, Olivia wants Jack from the first moment she meets him. He reciprocates her desires. However, haunted by his actions during the Civil War, he hides secrets that threaten to engulf him and ultimately force him to leave town once they are revealed. Love may not be enough to cleanse his soul and scrub away her fear of commitment.

A SPRINGWATER CHRISTMAS is an entertaining and wonderful western romance. The story line concentrates on two loners with little hope for a future. The lead characters are an engaging pair and the support cast enlarges the tale with a homecoming feel as many appeared in previous novels. Ms. Miller continues to provide to make her "Springwater" series some of the best works in the sub-genre.
