Rating: Summary: A delightful romp Review: This book is a the third book of the Matrix of Destiny series by Dara Joy. It continues the storyline while still managing to do well as a stand alone book. We get to see glimpses of favorite characters from previous books like Rejar and Tread at the same time as we explore more fully the world and motivations of the Familiars. There were I thought a few things I could take exception with in the story but all in all it was a well written and humorous escapist book.
Rating: Summary: not your average romance Review: This was an excellent book, it was humorous.very well thought out romantic scenes, this author is truly truly creative. I dont know if i could ever come up with as many plot twists and such vivid settings as Dara Joy does. If you are a fan of romance, you will love this book.
Rating: Summary: rewrite of Kathleen Morgan's Hearts Lair Review: I liked reading this book, but it's basically the same book as Hearts Lair by Kathleen Morgan. Everything is similar including the cat-man green/gold eyed hero. Ms. Joy's book was more erotic but pretty much the same otherwise. The events in the first chapter with the hero being chained naked to a wall, drugged, and having the heroine find him thus are exactly the same between the two books. I liked the book mostly because it was a continuation of The Matrix of Destiny books, but it was very unoriginal, and I felt cheated after I read both Hearts Lair and Mine to Take back to back. I felt that Ms. Joy could have done better. I suggest that if you want the original story you read Hearts Lair by Kathleen Morgan and just enjoy Mine to Take as a continuation of a much better story line in the MOD series.
Rating: Summary: Mine to Take Review: I love this book by Dara Joy. I read this book twice. I was so into the book that I missed my train stop by two stations. Lucky, I wasn't late for work. Ms. Joy gave a vivid description of different places that Jenise and Gian Ren went to that I was pulled into the book as if I was there with them. I love this book. It's KEEPER in my library.
Rating: Summary: Wow.. HOT Review: This was the best book of the series. Much better than REJAR. The heroine and hero were well matched. She was independent and intelligent. He was sexy, intelligent and knew how to get what he wanted, but still respected her. THis is a keeper to read again. I am looking forward to Traed's story. Hope it is forthcoming.
Rating: Summary: Absolute Best Romance I have EVER Read!! Review: ...And I have read hundreds of romance and sci-fi novels. This is the best (and third) of the series with Knight of a Trillion Stars and Rejar. I highly recommend all three books. I have never sat and read and entire book through twice in one sitting, but this was worth it. Dara Joy is an exceptional author. I wish she would write more in this Matrixo of Destiny series.
Rating: Summary: Earned every star and then some Review: I can't believe anyone would give this book less than five stars. This book is simply wonderful. IMO the best of the Matrix series, which is saying a lot since I love the entire series. The hero is from a race of shapeshifters known as Familiar. I noticed one person did not like that he was too arrogant etc. Well, if they knew anything about this race they would know that they have cat like atributes and so of course he would be arogant! He is also sensual, loving, caring, and very smart and cunning. I feel Gian is probably one of the best if not the best hero EVER created. Jenise was his match in every way, a strong, compassionate heroine who wanted her freedom but loved her people enough to think of them. The plot is non-stop action from page one. This book is an all-time best read and as so many others have already said, a must, must read.
Rating: Summary: A pale copy of Rejar Review: I have to start by saying I liked Night of a Trillion Stars the first book in the series and loved Rejar. This book was not as good. The beginning was boring as very little happens. Kind of reminded me of the barebones minimum plots supplied in x-rated movies to link sex scenes together. The main character is Rejar all over again, but the female heroine is never sharply defined. She just wines about personal freedom throughout the book, despite the fact that she shows not the slightest ability to do anything but be rescued by the hero. I found it totally unrealistic that she would spend the whole book talking about her Mother's people, yet never once mention any interest in going there and trying to find her family. The other books gained richness by showing the political struggles of the Charls, but the drama is lost because the author seemes to assume you just read Rejar yesterday or have perfect recollection of last's year book as she does not summerize key events. Woe to the person who never read the other two books. I would also have like to see more of the previous female characters. I could just imagine that Rajar's Liliac & Jenise would have a pretty interesting conversation about being the mate of a familiar.
Rating: Summary: Dissappointing as well as insulting Review: Oh my gosh. I do not know what is up with all these 5 star ratings! I read this book and by the time I got to the end I was ready to toss the damn thing out the door! Admittedly this book was well written, and had a nice plot line, but the characters were terrible! Gian was a self centered, manipulative and arrogant $*%&#@$! He used and abused Janise throughout the whole story, treating her less than human! He took away all her rights as an intelligent being, and controlled and manipulated her to further his self interests. Janise was weak and easily lead astray from her goal of freedom and liberty. She escaped the prison of Karpon, to be locked away in the prison that Gian made for her. Is this what all Ms. Joy's books are like? If so, then I am NOT going to read any more from her. These characters were an insult to any intelligent and independent woman. I had really expected more.
Rating: Summary: Gian, take me! Review: Gian, I LOVE GIAN. So here's the story, you take one incognito King of an alien race (who goes around being gorgeous all the time)(poor dear) mix in a princess who wants to abdicate and a complete loser of a bad guy, bring to the boil and you've got a book which equals Knight of a Trillion Stars for Storyline and Hero, and equals Rejar for steamy sexuality. So Ms Joy, you've had a full breed, a half-breed and a breed apart, what's next? I can only say that I hope its Traed's story! The Characters will captivate you as they fight for the freedom to be themselves.
