Rating: Summary: Three stars for bad writing - but great cop-work Review: After reading Steve Thomas's excellent book about Jonbenet Ramsey, the narrative of this book was a let-down. I was bored plowing through a lot of details that didn't interest me as a reader but may have been important to law enforcement officials. However - compared to the horror of the Ramsey case - the bungling, especially on the part of the D.A.'s office - this book was a revelation. Like Steve Thomas and his associates at the Boulder police, the detectives in this case were dealing with a rich, spoiled, arrogant suspect and because it was an "inside" job - i.e., family member kills family members - it was hard to pin the suspect down. Like Thomas and the Boulder police, the Fresno cops worked like dogs on the case for three years, getting worn down and losing their own families in some cases. Both of these books have increased my respect for police work - especially detectives on long, difficult cases. However, in this case the D.A. was not afraid to go to court. Eventually, common sense won out and they knew they had to jump on what evidence they had. One other note: I am a psychic who works with the police on occasion in murder and missing persons cases. Often, the police will use psychics and then throw them away scornfully, because they don't want to give credit to someone outside their professional circle. In the Steve Thomas book there were the usual snide comments about psychics in general, but in "Catch Me If You Can" the detectives do give the nod to the psychic who "saw" that the murder weapon was buried. Hey, thanks guys. The acknowledgement is appreciated.
Rating: Summary: Attention to detail on search warrants; dull to some.... Review: As the other reviewers have described, this is a true crime yarn that is well-written and fascinating for its attention to detail. One aspect of this book which sets it somewhat apart from other true crime books is the attention to detail given to the preparation of the search warrants and a discussion of the more technical aspect of this process. Some will find that dull and tedious, I appreciate the effort the author put into this and the fact that it was not left on the cutting room floor. The other reviewers have done a good job of describing the essence of this book.
Rating: Summary: true crime at it's best Review: Catch me if you can is true crime at it's best. If you like Ann Rule you will love this book. It keeps you interested from the start to the finish. You won't want to put it down. This story take you through the murders of a mother, father and daughter, and the son that hires his friend to carry out the deed. This is all done for money. It is unreal the lengths the decetives go through to finally catch these guys. This is one of those books that will keep you readin way into the night.

Rating: Summary: Couldn't Put It Down Review: I could not put this book down. I read it in three evenings. I would say the the tremendous amount of detail tends to get weary, but the story was fascinating. The first few chapters introduced entirely too many people and got off to a slow start, but by Chapter 5 the story line started to develop more as a narrative, and I was hooked.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Read Review: I do not normally read this type of book but I picked it up at a friend's house and fell in love with Mr. Hanadel's writing. The scence recreation was extremely entertaining; the book read like a great work of fiction. I reccomend this book to anybody looking to find a great author.
Rating: Summary: Must Read Review: I finished this book in less than a week. It was one of those books where you find yourself looking for extra time to read. It is a great True Crime story, you will find yourself questioning the moves of the police, while at the same time being amazed by their instincts. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially those who enjoy a good murder mystery. In the end your respect for what detectives do on a daily basis will be raised significantly. Bottom line...It is a Great Book!.
Rating: Summary: Incredible true crime story Review: I found Catch Me If You Can to be an incredible true crime story. The account of the crime was fascinating and the cat and mouse games between law enforcement and the perpetrator kept this a fast paced read. The writer's style was at times cliched and somewhat "Dragnet" like, but I found that kept things light as the true story was really very dark and ominous. This was a great book about one detective's tenacity in bringing to a close a truly gruesome crime.
