Rating: Summary: The most entertaining book I've read in a long time! Review: Mrs. Mike is a very entertaining story about a young woman who goes through so much in just a few years while living in the Northern Canadian wilderness. It's a story of bravery, love and hardship told with honesty by Benedict and Nancy Freedman. You won't want to put the book down, and you also won't want it to end...it's so enjoyable!
Rating: Summary: I couldn't put this book down!!!! Review: I received this book on Friday, January 23rd from my English teacher and I started it on Saturday and couldn't put it down on Sunday. I finished it by the time school rolled around on Monday. I think that this book was very easy to get into and I am ordering a copy of my own so that I can read it over and over again!!!
Rating: Summary: "Unforgettable!!!!!!! Review: I first read this book over 30 years ago. I kept and re-read this book (in paperback) until it came apart and I lost some of the first chapter in a move. I am delighted to find that it is still in print and I can once again enjoy the adventures of "Mrs. Mike", as well as being able to share with my sisters and their children who have missed out on experiencing this wonderful story.
Rating: Summary: A wonderful story to tap all of your emotions! Review: I was so excited to find this book available on Amazon. Like others, I first read this book some 35 years ago as a teenager, and have re-read it so many times over the years. I am thrilled to know that others have loved it as much as I have. It is a timeless story of love, and nature, and human spirit. Every time I read it I become Katherine Mary discovering the wonders, and tragedies, of the Northwest. And, to me, the most memorable line I have ever read of someone describing someone they love is Kathy saying that Sgt. Mikes eyes are "so blue you could swim in them". This is definitly my favorite all time book and I strongly recommend it. It has it all - love, friendship, nature, history, death, sorrow and joy.
Rating: Summary: Mrs. Mike is an old friend. Review: I first read Mrs. Mike in an English class at Hazelwood High School in St.Louis (1972). I have loved it ever since! In 1985, I was thrilled to see that the movie, Mrs. Mike, was coming on TV the next day. However, I went into labor the next morning! So, I had my husband stop by my neighbor's house (on our way to the hospital) and run in and give her a blank VHS tape so she could record the movie for me. I wouldn't miss this for the world! She thought I was crazy and came out to the car to tell me so. :-) Unfortunately, somehow through the years, my copy was erased. I sure would love to see it broadcast again. The movie was in such poor condition, I'd really love to see a remake of it! I'm still buying copies of this sweet book for my friends and my own children. "Mrs. Mike" IS a true story, isn't it??
Rating: Summary: A Movie Based on this story would be WONDERFUL!!! Review: I read this book in one day. I couldn't stop. I love the fact that it took place back in the early 1900's. Life was sometimes hard but also simple, slower. I would really like to see it made into a movie. It was a terrific story. The writers did a wonderful job. You could picture it in your mind, as if you were there.
Rating: Summary: Truly the best book written Review: I first read this book at the age of 12. Now 32 years later I am still reading it from time to time. I have passed it on to all my children to read and am now passing it on to my neices and nephews. It really is a wonderfull story of a young girl following her heart's love and all the hardships and happiness that goes along with a life in the Canadian wilderness.

Rating: Summary: Deserves more than five stars! Review: This book is one I remember from my teen years. I reread it years later and have passed it on to my daughter and husband. This wonderful story of adventure, romance and life is one that has stayed with me since reading it over 30 years ago. The copy I have is an original publication from 1947 that was featured in The Book of the Month Club. To me, "Mrs. Mike" ranks right up there with "To Kill a Mockingbird". Both are novels that will last a lifetime and can be read again and again!
Rating: Summary: I thought my sister and I were alone Review: My mother recommended this book to me over twenty five years ago. I found it in the library and fell in love. My sister picked it up and we started reading it simultaneously, stealing it back and forth from each other. Many years later I went in search of a copy only to find that the library had sold it off. I bought a copy through a bookseller in the back of the NY Times. Six months later I was Christmas shopping in a store that had a lot of old books as decorating props. One was a copy of Mrs. Mike. The store manager gave it to me when I explained its emotional value. My sister now has her own copy and we don't have to steal from each other any more. When I recommended it to a friend and she said she found it on Amazon, I was thrilled and just had to see what everyone said. I'm so glad this remarkable story is available to women today. It is truly and inspirational tale that will stay with you all your life.
