Summary: J.A.K 's best effort to date in my opinion!
Review: "Smoke in Mirrors" by Jayne Ann Krentz, is a sensual, fast pace story that I found to be quite appealing.

The characters are spunky and sharpe - the dialogue crisp and entertaining - and the plot intriguing.

Jayne Ann Krentz - an author I have admired for a long time has done it again with her newest Romantic/Comedy, "Smoke in Mirrors" a novel that will most people will enjoy immensely.

Summary: Not a page turner
Review: A friend recommended this book to me, so I picked it up. From the start, I had to force myself to keep going. I read the whole book, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Summary: A Wonderful Read
Review: A thoroughly enjoyable novel. Nice blend of suspense, romance, and fun. I couldn't put it down. I waited impatiently for her
next novel to be released and was not disappointed at all.

Summary: Welcome back, Jayne Ann, we've missed you!
Review: After the lackluster "Dawn in Eclipse Bay", the bland "Lost and Found", and the frankly dismal "Slightly Shady", Jayne Ann Krentz seems to have finally found her pace again with this lively tale of sensuality and psychoses in a small Northwestern college town. The characters snap and crackle in the best Krentz style, complete with coastal fog, excellent dog, and a supporting cast that not only supports, but also scene-steals in many places. The passion is front and center (although maybe a little more would have been nice?), and it's easy to lose track of time while adventuring with these lovers. I'm a confirmed JAK fan and I'm thrilled to see that vivacious turn of phrase back in play along with a sexy hero and a spunky heroine! Thanks, Jayne Ann - and welcome back!

Summary: Slightly Disappointed
Review: Although the plots and dialogue have improved compared to earlier novels, the characters seem to be suffering. I agree with another reader and also did not enjoy Smoke in Mirrors OR Lost and Found as much as previous books. However, it's something to be said that JAK is still one of the best in the romance/suspense category in spite of these last two releases.

Summary: Jayne's romantic suspense gets better and better
Review: Another great Krentz book. Jayne's mystery writing improves with each book. Thomas and Lenora remind me of Hepburn and Tracy characters from their old movies. The give and take of the dialogue is very enjoyable. Jayne does an excellent job of filling out all the characters. You know just how Alex Rhodes, Roberta Brinks, Deke Walker, Grandma Gloria and all the others look, talk and think. Have a good read.:-)

Summary: The Perfect Ratio
Review: Another winner for Krentz! This is another absolutely fabulous book by Krentz. Each book certainly gets better and better, this one being the best yet.

Krentz has once again managed to weave just the right amount of intrigue romance and humour together into what can only be called a delectable dessert.

Smoke in Mirrors was very unpredictable...the best kind of romance/mystery! The book was extremely well planned out in respects to the murderer, who's identity was unexpected until closer to the end - but that is undoubtedly planned by the author, who likes to let her readers think they have the upper hand...you know, when you are suddenly have a dawning realisation of who the killer is, and then have that triumphant feeling when you discover a few pages later that you are right!

The book begins with a chilling murder and right away, your curiosity compells you to turn the page. Each chapter ends in such a way that the aforementioned type of curiosity wins out and you must continue reading.

The book is also very modern and easy to relate to, in the sense of modern view and ideas...such as drugs, sex, and bisexual relationships. I think that it is a great thing that Krentz has kept her books quite up to date on the current views and occurences in today's society.

Smoke in Mirrors is an excellent book, and even if you are not the type to browse through the romance book department, the mystery in this book is imperious enough to read it anyway, regardless of the hovering hints of a love story.

Summary: Formula driven maybe
Review: but it's a winning formula. I enjoyed this book as much as I have enjoyed her others. Love the way she characterizes the animals. So "human".

Looking forward to "A Summer in Eclipse Bay" and anything else she releases or re-releases (if I haven't read it of course and there are a few of the early ones). Keep 'em coming!
