Rating: Summary: An Angel of a Novel Review: . The story of Emily and Justin was so poignant and touching. I found myself falling in love with Justin from the first moment he appeared in print. What an absolutely delicious man. The plot was ripe with chemistry and sexual tension and I could not bear to put it down for even an instant. This book is a rare treasure and does not disappoint. One of my all time favourites. I adore Teresa Medeiros and will purchase anything so long as her name is on the cover.
Rating: Summary: A really fun read! Review: Another winner by one of my favorite writers
Rating: Summary: This book made me laugh so hard. Review: I can't believe this book. I have had it for a couple of years and have reread it numerous times. Oh, how can lobsters hanging off someones pantaloons be so funny? I love this book. It made me feel what the characters were going through. The feelings I felt were great you can't put down this book as with almost all of Teresa Medeiros's books she is a great author.
Rating: Summary: good book Review: I have always enjoyed this authors book but this one was a bit of a struggle to get through. It was a good story and had a good plot but I had to push myself to get back into the story. It was well written but I found it didn't have as much of the humor that I love in her books. The story starts off in 1865 in New Zealand where the hero Justin Connor finds his best friend dying and pledges to take care of his little girl. He believes her to be a very little girl but in reality she is young lady who is now faced with the death of her father and the abandoment of her ward Justin Connor. Emily soon grows up and finds herself on a boat in New Zealand searching for her ward. She hates him because of his selfishness and has vowed revenge. She is thrown overboard and washes up on the shore only to be found by Justin. Justin has no idea that she is his ward and finds himself strongly drawn to her. He is a man haunted by the past and she is a bright star showing him that he has a future. Soon the local changes to England where Justin finally finds out that Emily is his ward. Now he has to contend with more guilt over how he treated his ward and his feelings of love and passion for his Emily. Emily doesn't make it easy for him and we get to witness some funny moments while she torments him. This story has some exciting twists to it and I enjoyed the banter between the characters. I look forwad to reading others by this author.
Rating: Summary: Daddy??? Review: I have loved every book I've read by Medeiros, but this one just didn't sweep me away. It seemed to lack her usual humor and I found the characters to be rather stilted and tiresome (not to mention annoying - as in Emily being a girlish brat!). I felt sorry for poor old Justin. The book bordered on being "sick" in that whole "daddy" way. I mean, come on, if Justin had gone back to fetch Emily right away when she was a child, he certainly would have been more "fatherly" to his ward and probably would not have bedded her when she was of age! (But then we wouldn't have a book, either.) I actually love romances between an older, graying man and a younger woman, but this seemed to push the envelope a little.
Rating: Summary: My favorite Teresa Medeiros novel Review: I have read a few romances by Teresa Medeiros but Once An Angel had to be my all-time favorite. Medeiros did a fantastic job developing the charaters. I felt I knew Justin and Emily from the detailed and poignant way they were described. Emily's personality had me rolling on the ground with laughter. Justin was a real stud to the extent. The best moment (and one of the funniest, I say "one" because there were many)was the opera scene when Justin flies into a fit of rage and makes a huge scene. Also, the chemistry between Justin and Emily was perfectly conveyed and I think I even felt the sparks between them! This story has all the great elements: humor, passion, wit, loss, anguish and happiness. I recommend Once An Angel to anyone who wants to read a fantastic book.
Rating: Summary: The BEST LOVE STORY EVER!!!!!! Review: I have to say this is not my best author, but the last 3 books I've read just keep getting better & BETTER!!!.. I love Julia Quinn and other regency romanc authors, but none of their books could beat this ONE BY FAR! I NEVER wanted this book to end. A love story from the start. It was soooo sad and yet captivating with soooo much Passion and Love with the characters. Emily had such a horrible 7 years of Hell, but I would gladly go through what she did, to finally end up with a Love that can only truly be blessed from the HEAVENS above. That person who wrote the review about this story being sick and about a daddy. Well I can asure you the author did maintain a lot of dignity with this book. Besides you pay attention to the book you'll notice that Justin was younger than Emily's father. If the father was 20yrs older than her and justin about 5 or 6, then that would mean he's only 14 or 15 yrs older. I know a lot of women who are married to older men including my mother. I TRULY LOVE THIS BOOK!. I'm just sad that now I have to look for a book to even try to hold it's own to this one. Out of all the books I've ever read in my lifetime and that's been a LOT. This was is my FAVORITE!! I would gladly pay literally $100 dollars for a book that only cost me 4 bucks!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Not as good as some of her others Review: I love TM's books, but this one didn't do it for me. The first half was sweet, with very tender moments between the characters, but when they were in London, things kept shifting from one crisis and mood swing to another. When they finally did "get together" it seemed rushed and unhappy. Try reading "Nobody's Darling" or "Breath of Magic" to really appreciate the talent of TM.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful story, still a rip-off Review: I loved "Once an Angel." That doesn't change the fact that it is indeed a "Little Princess" for adults. The first thing I thought of was that it was that wonderful childhood story. The basic history of Emily is that of "A Little Princess." That said, it is still a wonderful story, with original and endearing characters. Emily's antics filled me with laughter and Justin's moody-musician character made him all the more irresistable. Their love-hate relationship was well-done and believable, even if the ending was just a tad contrived - it doesn't fit with Justin's character for him to abandon all his responsibilities, no matter how unhappy they make him. I would recommend this book to any historical romance fan. I've already bought another of her novels and am checking out more.
Rating: Summary: Really Funny Review: I'm officially hooked on Ms. Medeiros' books. This is the 3rd one I've read, and my favorite (so far). I really am amazed at her powers of description--I could just feel the sunshine on my shoulders.
