Brenda keep up the good work. I think I'll read it again tomorrow! Just can't get enough of her books.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: August Book Of The Month For Shades Of Romance Magazine Review: Get ready to Surrender If I could give this book a six star rating, I would have. Mrs. Jackson surpassed her usual great story telling and wrote a magnanimous story. "Surrender" was the Best of the Best. This book was a Family Reunion. All the Madaris' were present an accounted for. It felt like old home week. Brenda brought each member of the family up to date. I felt like I was hearing good news from members of my own family. Let me tell you when I picked up this book, I did not put it down until I was finished. I read well over into the night. It was worth any sleep that I lose, believe me. "Surrender" was sensational, intriguing, romantic, and just down right "HOT" (Imagine, an African-American/Cherokee, six foot male in a loincloth!!! Wow!!!!) It was the battle between the sexes. Colonel Ashton Sinclair, Of The United Stated Marines, against Netherland Blooms owner of the well known "Sisters Restaurant". He wanted her from the very first time he saw her. She was attracted to him, but was reluctant to admit it, because she made a promise years before that she would not date or marry a military man. The magnetism between the two was most unique. I could feel their attraction pulling me from the pages of my book. I found myself laughing out loud and talking to the characters of the book. Ashton would come to "Sisters" every night and sit in the same spot and watch her work, while he had dinner. Netherland did every thing in her power to avoid him. Then came the big auction. Colonel Sinclair was the Main Attraction. Nettie, finally realizing her true feeling. She was determined she had to make the highest bid at the auction. The prize would be a weekend with the Colonel. If you have read the other sagas of the Madaris family and friends this book is a most. If you have not, my advice to you is to start looking now and buy the series, because you a missing out on the best reads of your life.

Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: No, Never, Well..., Maybe, Sometimes, Ok, Yes...To Love Review: I generally liked this book especially the first half. It's about a Black woman named Netherlands who owns a restaurant and a Colonel in the Marines named Ashton. Ashton is part Cherokee and Black, has visions of the future and is bound and determined to have Netherlands as his woman. No problem, as I bought this book knowing it was a romance novel with people of color. It's the usual fare of boy meets girl, boy wants girl bad, girl creates conflict, boy pursues no matter what and then it takes a different rather sloppy turn.
Up until half way through the book you have your usual steamy romance novel. Characters are well developed and the writing is good. But at the half way point the author decides to involve not one but three other love stories out of the blue. It's confusing and to have all these people who were minor characters in the first half suddenly take center stage, and all fall madly in love instantly, is a little annoying. As a result the writing suffers as does your attention span. There are problems with the timeline and continuity and believability about how police departments operate and the military, especially the military.
Had Ms. Jackson not digressed I would have given it 4 stars.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Sweet Surrender Review: Nettie Brooms is determined never to fall for a service man and is determined to resist the handsome Colonel Ashton Sinclair. Ashton on the other hand is determined to prove her wrong. But when trouble breaks out and Ashton goes on a mission will Nettie be there for him when and if he returns alive? A book that's hot hot hot!!!!!
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: I SURRENDER TOO!!! Review: Let me tell you my fellow Hopeful romantics, I very much ENJOYED this book! I went into it expecting a nice read while on my flight to - and then from - my vacation only. I ended up spending every chance I could reading the book!
I wasn't expecting the heat and passion between Netherland and Ashton. Normally, I'm not the type of person who enjoys the man being this ultra strong, afraid of nothing type but I found myself wishing I were Nettie. Just the way Ms Jackson described how he would look at her...only her...is perhaps every woman's fantasy. I know it's mine and it sent me right over my Hopeful Romantic edge!
I also enjoyed the side stories with Rome and Jada, Rainey and Howard and especially Christy and Alex. That kiss they shared could have burned down a house! Whew!
I did deduct a point for the kidnappings and fire/rescue portion - which I thought were BIG stretches, the mistake in writing that Ms Jackson did when she wrote about Rome being able to resign from the Marines (though a minor error, as an enlisted person, he can not resign, he signed a contract to stay in the Marines for so many years) and the loin cloth thing was - to me -silly but, overall this is a must read.

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: WOW Review: I am so floored by Mrs. Jackson's writing that I have made it a point to get every book in the Madaris Series. Surrender was so good I passed it on to my mom and I have read the book at least four times since I bought it. You don't have to believe in the characters backgroung to be drawn in the web of love that Mrs. Jackson so eloquently created with this book. If you want a book that is really touching and hard to put down I suggest you by Surrender.
