Summary: I love paranormal romance but not this!
Review: I am always looking for a good vampire romance novels. I was excited when I read the reviews for this one. So excited that I bought all three books (and paid almost $60). What a total waste of money. All three books were poorly written. The character development is non-existent. The sex is not sexy or enticing. There is no build-up in the relationships, everybody simply loves each other for no apparent reason. The only thing going for this series is the author's imagination. Don't waste your money of these books!

Summary: Erotic Paranormal at its Best.
Review: J C is a personal favourite of mine not only are her books entralling erotic humourous and exciting.. that cover it but she's also very nice person. Originally in electronic e-book format to the printed page is even better.
The 6 stories over 3 volumes covers the story of a group of friends. One with the Hunger is for Shai a and her soon to be vampire lover.. Jennifer and her revenant lover and Jennifer also has a secret .. the story continues into Volume two...

Summary: An Amazing book! 1st of a series!
Review: This book was wonderful. Its actually two books in one. The first one is "One With the Hunger" Its a vampire book, one of my favorite. This is also the first book in a series. The hero is Val, a mysterious, dark, gorgeous, hunk of Vampire who has found his mate. Shai Jordan is a quiet, hardworking woman. She has a wonderful group of very excentric friends who only want her happiness. They decide she needs a man. And guess who is very willing to fulfill those needs. You guessed it, Val. There is more than just hot sexual attraction between these two. Both are tracking a killer, someone who is ruthless and pure evil. I really enjoyed this story and my only complaint would be it was too short!

The second story is "Retribution". This is the story of Shai's and Val's friends Jennifer and Conor "Mac" MacNaughton. In this story we find out how Val and Jennifer know each other. Also We find that Jennifer and Mac have a past. Its a past that has tarnished their lives and it will take a lot of trust and compassion on both sides to overcome the hurt. Oh and by the way while this is all going on they all must fight against the evil killer who escaped in the first book. We meet several new characters in this book who go on to have their own stories.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good hot vampire book. I do have one question though, do all vampires come from the Carpathian mountains? I know that is where the vampires in Christine Feehan's books are from and so I was suprised to read that Val is from there as well. Must be something in the water.

Summary: Enjoyable, But Not Worth The High Price...
Review: Volume one of the Shadow Dweller series contains One with the Hunger & Retribution by J.C. Wilder.

'One with the Hunger' - Shai Jordan was celebrating her birthday with her 4 closest friends: the famous movie star Melanie, the fabulously wealthy Vivian, the gorgeous ex-model Erihn, and the mysterious Jennifer when they got onto the topic of Shai's love life, or lack thereof. For the first time, Shai shared her idea of a dream lover - someone who would come to her at night and give her pleasure beyond her wildest dreams. Unbeknownst to her, Shai's dreams were overheard by Valentin, a centuries old master vampire who decided to make all of her dreams come true... But what Valentin didn't know is that Mikhail, another master vampire, had been obsessed with Shai and was simply waiting for her to grow up so that he could play his little games with her. As women who bear a striking resemblance to Shai start dying in horrible ways, Shai is unsure who to trust - her mysterious new lover or the handsome blond man who keeps playing tricks on her?

Retribution - Jennifer Beaumont (whom we met in One with the Hunger) was determined to help Valentin beat Mikhail. When Mikhail kidnapped her good friend Miranda, Jennifer drew up her courage to face the horrible man who had ruined her life so many years ago by turning her into his revenant. Jennifer found that Mikhail hadn't changed a bit and left without Miranda, but her confrontation brought Conor "Mac" MacNaughten back into her life. Jennifer had broken Mac's heart years before by insisting that she didn't love him to save his life and keep him away from Mikhail, who would surely kill him. When Mac saw Jennifer again, he knew that he had never fallen out of love with her but still couldn't understand why she would choose Mikhail over him. Was it because Mac had no memories of his life as a child? And what did Mikhail know about his father who Mac had no memories of? As both Jennifer and Mac struggle to come to grips with the havoc Mikhail has created in their lives, the truth comes out and they start to fall in love again. Now, if only they can keep Mikhail from destroying their new chance at love...

One with the Hunger is the opening novella to the Shadow Dweller series and the hero, the master vampire Valentin, is fabulous. Still, it is a very short "book" at only app. 90 pages. Retribution is a little longer, at 170 pages, but, when you put them together, it is still a pretty short book. If you enjoy vampire/werewolf/witch romances, though, this is a great series. My main complaint is that, just when you get to know and like the characters, the book is over. Also, there are six books in this series and then Wilder just leaves the reader hanging so be aware that it is not complete. All of the books feed off of each other, but it is not necessary to read them in order (although they make a lot more sense if you do). They are available at much cheaper prices in ebook format. Keep an eye out and you can get all 6 for a pretty good deal, just remember that they are very short!
