Rating: Summary: Immensely entertaining Review: I love all of the Red Dress Ink books I have read, and when I spotted this one in the bookstore, it looked like it would be right up my alley. And it was. The protagonist, Karrie Kline, had a strong voice that came through clearly in these series of humorous vignettes about dating. The author was also able to keep what could be a depressing subject mostly upbeat. She seemed to observe her experiences in a positive light and move on into the next experience. I think everyone has a little of Karrie Kline in them, especially when it comes to the dating world. Though the novel was quite long, it did move very quickly and actually made me laugh out loud at several parts! I have recommended it to all of my friends who are dating and need a good laugh. And, of course, I recommend it to anyone who is in the mood to read a great book.
Rating: Summary: wonderful and funny Review: I love the world of single chicks in New York, and Laurie Graff's book explores this in an intimate and poignant way. What I especially like is the way Laurie uses humor, which is often pushing off from something that is deeply honest and sometimes sad. This is a wonderful book; I recommend it.
Rating: Summary: You Have to Kiss A Lot Of Frogs Review: I loved this book! Actress Karrie Klien takes you through all her ups and downs in the acting a Dating world. If you're looking for a story to make you laugh out loud this is the book for you. Each chapter holds a new and hilarious adventure. I've already bought the book for many friends. It's chic-lit at its best. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: A Great Read!! Funny, smart and real Review: I LOVED this book!! It's so smart and funny and well-written. The writing is so natural it feels like one of those great conversations with a girlfriend that you never want to end. Any woman who's been single will relate to the heroine's journey. I bought five copies and gave them to my friends, and they raved about the book too. It's our lives!
Rating: Summary: Not Impressed Review: I think this book was too long; should have ended way before it did. Not the worst book I ever read, but certainly not the best. I would not recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Covering All the Bases Review: I thoroughly enjoyed reading Laurie Graff's You Have To Kiss A Lot Of Frogs. Laundry got wrinkled in the dryer and meals burned, but I had to read "just one more chapter." I felt as if I was actually there, listening in to the characters as they created different situations and relationships. In this instance, easedropping was rewarded with a variety of emotions. I laughed, I cried, and I pondered. What more could I want from a reading experience? I am anxious to read what is waiting to be created by Laurie Graff next.
Rating: Summary: Takes from a fellow frog kisser... Review: I was duly impressed with this novel. Karrie Kline's insights on her dating life are full of wit, intelligence and poignancy. Since she turned thirty, Karrie has searched for Mr. Right all over New York -- only to encounter a load of Mr. Wrongs. Now that she's forty-five, the struggling actress may have to come to terms with her singleton ways. But life has its surprises. Will she finally find her prince?I marvel at Laurie Graff's wit. She's created an endearing heroine who tackles issues centered on her wayward father, her Jewish customs, and the fact that she does not want to "get married and live a normal life in Queens," as her grandmother puts it. This is another great one from Red Dress Ink. A fellow frog kisser, I'd say this is one of the most relatable chick lits out there.
Rating: Summary: Even married folks love this book! Review: I was exhausted from a day chasing after the kids, weary beyond belief. I finally had some quiet time and thought I'd read a chapter of this new book, You Have to Kiss a Lot of Frogs. I was giggling as I read the first chapter and guffawing my way through the rest. I had my share of frogs and Laurie Graff's book brought back some of my own fond and laughable memories. Reading this make me appreciate even more the husband I have and married life. Great story. Fun reading!
Rating: Summary: Lots of pages, but not much fun Review: I'm all about books that are written from the single girl's point of view (i.e. Bridget Jones's Diary, The Devil Wears Prada, etc.) but this book, which details the life of the heroine in non-chronological order, is not a fun read. The reader never feels any true empathy for the Karrie Kline, nor does her romantic exploits satisfy the reader's imagination. There are better written, more interesting, and poignant books one could read instead. Don't waste your time flipping through over 400 pages waiting to like the book. Because even the ending, not the content, but how it is written-- cut short and dry, leaves the reader frustrated.
Rating: Summary: Tells it like it is, was, and will be Review: If you think the stories in this book are extreme you haven't dated lately. And these guys aren't even the froggiest! Graff has been there, back, and finally realizes something all single women should. The love of a boyfriend is usually temporary while the love of a dog is forever. Entertaining from cover to cover.
