Summary: Good futuristic romance! More like 4.5 stars.
Review: I am always looking for new futuristic romances, and this is a good one! It has plenty of action, intrigue, space travel, sizzling romance, and even alien body swapping. I have decided to be stingy with my 5-star ratings, but I am certainly looking forward to more from this author.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Too close to countless other stories
Review: I think that this novel is one of the worst that I have read in years. Never mind the typical plot: Strong girl leaves male dominated society, makes good, meets a chauvinist male who is good at heart, somehow they end up back at her home where a fight to the death is called for. I think what really pushed me over the edge was when our heroine is called to help the hero, by crawling into a maintenace shaft on the ship to hold a flashlight for him. I guess 500 years in the future you still need someone to hold flashlights for you. It was just a rehash of bad romance plots with a touch of science fiction thrown in. The writer and editor should be ashamed

Summary: brilliant sizzling romance
Review: If asked, I would not declare myself an avid Futuristic Romance Fan...only I find myself reading a lot of really outstanding books in this sub-genre of late. Robin Owen's "Heart" tales about the distant planet of Celta are some of the best books I have ever read. Susan Grant seems to have charted this field with her "Star" series and now pilots the bold "2176 series" - Grant's conception - (The Legend of Banzai Maguire by Grant; Day of Fire by Kathleen Nance; The Shadow Runners by Liz Maverick; Patti O'Shea's The Power of Two; ending with Grant's The Scarlet Empress). Catherine Spangler and her great Shielder series keep us coming back for more. And nipping at their heels is C.J. Barry's amazing fulfilled UN"adventures. So there are some great books burning up the bookracks!

But add a new voice to those "Stellar" Starblazers...Robin T. Popp. I bought her book sometime back, but in a hurried packing to dash to the other side of the Pond, it was left behind, so I am just now getting to it. The book is breathtaking! Seriously! At times, the tension was just so intense I had to remind myself to breathe! Okay, maybe a slight exaggeration, but not by much. "Too Close to the Sun" is one great book. Had I known what a powerhouse tale this novel was, I would've bought a second copy and not waiting so long.

This book starts off with a frantic pace as galactic smuggler Angel Torrence, finally sees freedom in her grasp. She has just made the last payment on her nifty space shuttle and now she is her own boss. The last eight years she's been on the
run from the ruler of planet Coronado - her tyrant grandfather, so she is looking forward to this. But no sooner has she taken that first breath as owner, she watches in horror as raiders blow her ship. In the carnage of the attack, she "borrows" a spaceship Icarus to escape. Only this is no ordinary craft, in the computer system is the life-essence of Commander Nicoli Romanof. He has separated it from his body, allowed that body to be captured by the dread Harvesters. His intent is to retake his body and put an end their operation of stealing and black-marketing bodies and body parts. Only he needs a top ace pilot to make sure he gets there, so he can bring the two parts of himself together and end the Harvesters operations. While Angel is one of the best pilots, she has a problem with taking orders and Nicoli refuses to put a female in harms way.

That much of an adventure would be enough for a single book alone and would dazzle us, but it's just the start of this amazing adventure. Nicoli and Angel are vividly conjured; they just steal your heart. The futuristic world is brilliantly realised under the gifted talent of Popp. If you delight in Futuristic Romances, you MUST read this one. You will kick yourself if you don't! Even readers who might think they wouldn't enjoy one will thrill to this story...that picks you up and never lets you down. "Too Close to the Sun" is a perfect title, for you will feel like the mythical Icarus after reading the scorcher!

Summary: Great futuristic romance
Review: In 2503 at an old world pub in the Las Vegas Coastal Airfield, smuggler Angel Torrence goes from elation to shock rather quickly. Felinean Avengers, seeking retaliation for what she did to the crime boss' son, blow up her ship the Falcon. Desperate to escape, she steals the idle Icarus. On board the vessel is scientist healer Yanur Snellen who is on two quests. He must find a way to stop the alien menace the Harvesters and must rescue the body of his friend Colonel Nicole Ramanoff, whose essence he has loaded into the ship's computer.

From the computer, Nicole orders Angel to do his bidding or else. As they argue voice to body over supremacy in this odd relationship both begins to fall in love and soon she makes his cause hers. However, both know the future is bleak between a machine harboring the brain and soul of a man and a full blooded woman with needs and desires making it even more imperative to rescue his body from the Avengers. Then there is the matter of saving humanity before the Harvesters reap through mankind.

This science fiction romance is a powerful futuristic tale that sub-genre fans and those who appreciate a delightful speculative fiction story will enjoy. The story line is loaded with action that enables the audience to believe five centuries plus from now is already her. However, the key is the cast as Popp makes the growing love between a disembodied male and a hyperactive female so genuine. TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN is a superb story that will gain new fans for Ms. Popp.

Summary: A Great Adventure
Review: Nicoli Romanoff is out to save the world, Angel is just trying to save herself from a return to an archaic planet. The two work together to take out the Harvesters, a group that has mastered using a body for another's life essence. I really got into Robin's worlds. She captures us early with Nicoli's daring ploy to infiltrate the Harvesters. Then the action piles on. Great suspense and characters! And of course there is a satisfying romance, or two. This author knows how to keep me reading and I look forward to future stories from her.

Summary: Too Close to Perfection!
Review: Robin Popp's futuristic romance, TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN, shines from page one. No wonder it's won a dozen contests and was nominated for the Romance Writers of America's Golden Heart Award. Popp's characters are vividly drawn and appealing. I love Angel's outer toughness and inner vulnerability. Nicoli is the perfect alpha male: fierce, protective, with a heart only Angel can touch. The chemistry between these two sizzles--even when Nicoli doesn't have a body! This is one of the most original books I have ever read. The twist at the end especially blew me away. I always hear romance readers saying they are tired of the same plots and stories. If you are looking for something new and hot by an author who is sure to be a best-seller very soon, read TOO CLOSE TO THE SUN.

Summary: Couldn't put this one down
Review: Robin T Popp has certainly broken onto the scene with a wonderful story that hooks you from the first to the last page.
The time setting is the future, however it isn't too techy that a contemporary or historical fan is left behind. She weaves a tale that has you bonding with the Heroine, Angel Torrence, and drooling over the Hero, Alex.

It is a fast paced, intriguing read that I enjoyed very much. I can't wait to read her next book.

Summary: Too close to countless other stories
Review: Robin T. Popp takes romance into another world with a witty, fast paced novel full of sexual tension. This futuristic romance weaves the complex plot naturally around the reader.

I couldn't put this book down, and I'm anxiously waiting for the next book to see what new world and dramatic adventure this author will take us to.

Angel is a herione that I instantly fell in love with. She has a kick butt attitude that women and girls of all ages can connect with, but she's also vulnerable which makes her likeable. Popp effortlessly made me root for this heroine, in love and in life.

The hero, Nicoli, is a man that fills many women's dreams. He's a warrior, a commander and always in control. His body is one that would make any women swoon, but he's also dedicated and loyal to anyone who has his heart.

With two people such as these, this book once again makes me believe in loyalty, committment and love. If you want to get away from the real world and fall in love all over again, then TOO CLOSE TOO THE SUN is just the book for you.
