Summary: Enjoyable but not great
Review: The "plain jane" cover proclaimed it Erotic. The review also proclaimed it Erotic. Guess what? Not! Oh, there is some kinkiness/eroticism but not enough to warrant the cover's billing. (From the cover, I actually felt embarrassed to put it before the clerk, imaging that I was buying some really steamy sex novel!) There is steamier sex in Laurens or the earlier Joy books.) A word to Ms. Schone: talking about the Kama Sutra might have been Erotic back in the 1880's but today it just doesn't cut it.

This is an enjoyable read but the reader has too may unanswered questions: why did the switch take place? How did Morrigan come back in another body? Why did Charles have so few questions? Why did the uncle put up with Hattie's mistreatment of Morrigan?

Summary: A little disapointed
Review: I have read all of Robin's books now and loved every one of them, but this one left me a little disapointed. I would have liked to see Charles be a bit more curious about where Elaine had come from. This could be dealt with if there is a sequel to it. There just seamed to be something missing. Please Robin consider writing a sequel.

Summary: I'm a huge Robin Schone fan
Review: I loved "My Ladys Tutor" and "The Lover" and as a Robin schone devotee of course I read "Awaken, My Love" and although I liked it and found it much like Robin's others, it didn't quite live up to my expectations. But if your a Schone fan definatly check it out.

Summary: Awaken, My Love
Review: In AWAKEN, MY LOVE, Robin Schone mixes fantasy and reality to create that erotic perfection of which most people only dream.

Elaine Metcliff, a sexually unfulfilled, modern-day woman, wakes up one morning in the 19th century and in the body of the very frigid Morrigan, Lady Arlcotte. To say that Elaine wakes up in a situation akin to a nightmare would be the ultimate understatement. Aunt Hattie, her main caretakeer, is obnoxious in more ways than one. Her new "husband" appears to be displeased, though fascinated, with her. And her body now has a small deformity which is causing problems in mobility.

Meanwhile Charles, the 19th century husband is very unsatisfied with Morrigan's lack of sexual appetite. When he first sees Elaine, she's in Morrigan's body, so he has no way of knowing she's a different person. Yet he notices some things have changed and he begins an earnest pursuit of her.

First, Elaine tries desparately to return to her own "time." Then, as the undeniable persuasions of Charles' chase continue, she feels to submit to him would be adulterous. Finally, as she accepts her position and gives in to Charles' expert lovemaking, she experiences total fulfillment.

In addition to the fantasy of "body swapping," AWAKEN, MY LOVE is made more complicated and interesting by the issues of child abuse, demonic possession, insanity and overly zealous relatives.

Ms. Schone mixes real romance with beautifully written eroticism. It's well worth reading.

Summary: Awaken, My Love
Review: I was dissappointed in this story. I had expected romance with erotic scenes, maybe even something fun. There were too many scene evoking gritty reality that took away from the sensual romance I expected. The old hag was irritating, and the ending was shocking in a way I did not want to see in a romance. I would not recommend this to reader's seeking a sexy love story. Though, the writing did compell me to read the entire story, I was not satisfied at the end.

Summary: If you like Erotica - Read this
Review: Unlike many of her other novels the characters do not start out having sex with each other - there is actually some story development first. I liked the fantasy of time travel and switching bodies. When the two characters actually met and started interacting they played off each other very well. I liked both of them. Additionally, the mystery of who was the "real" Morrigan, and who was the real victim, was an interesting one.

Even though the entire story was a fantasy, I did find it hard to believe that a "modern" woman would be so wimpy. The main character very often lacked the indepence which most modern woman possess, even those that have been submissive in life like this woman was. There were times she was much more an 18th century woman then the other characters!

But, if you ignore this the rest of the story is worth reading. I can't wait for her next book.

Summary: In classic Robin Schone style.
Review: As usual Robin Schone has written another gem of a book in her sensual, yet vivid style of writing. The interaction between the characters was, as always, well portrayed and believable. You can feel for both the heroine and hero. And although some would say that the plot was highly unbelievable, that is what reading is all about, being able to suspend your disbelief and immerse yourself in the story. I felt that toward the end of the book (when it really began to pick up) you come to believe this whole story and why it happened. Schone is able to tie the loose ends nicely so that you believe and take it all in.

However, there were some sore spots that prevented me from giving this book a higher rating. For one, I found it highly annoying that the heroine did not speak for the first half of the book. Although I could understand why she did not, it still took away some of the initial enjoyment and as a result I felt the story dragged in the beginning. And my second complaint was with the ending, I felt that after everything that had happened, the hero should have acknowledged the heroine by her true name. For me that would have been a more fitting ending. All in all, this book was really good. Not as good as some of Schone's later novels, but still entertaining. A great first book by an author who gets better and better.

Summary: A n erotic time travel romance
Review: Nearing forty, systems analyst Elaine Metcliffe wonders if that is all there is to life as she struggles with her "scheduled" marriage. However, when she awakens in her icy room, Elaine sees and hears a thick accented hag. The woman, whom she cannot fully comprehend, screams at her to get out of bed. She wonders who this elderly crone lecturing her on the devil's behavior is.

Elaine realizes that she has traveled back to 1883 Dorset, England to occupy the body of Morrigan, spouse of Lord Charles Mortimer. Elaine has many questions on her mind, especially why and how, but also how come her host body remains a virgin after one year of marriage. She also refuses to accept the intimidating tactics of the discourteous servant or her "husband". Charles wonders what is going on when she takes her first bath in their year of marital "bliss" and uses the wrong hand. He sees a suddenly aggressive Morrigan and begins a sensual assault by employing the sexual tricks of a master. As they begin to fall in love the real Morrigan returns threatening to destroy Elaine and Charles' happiness.

This author's edition is a reprint with major changes made, virtually making it a new book. This well-written erotic romance will arouse the passion of sub-genre fans. The sensual story line of AWAKEN, MY LOVE is filled with sexually graphic scenes that enhance a time travel romance. The lead couple belongs together (in and out of bed) while the real Morrigan provides a counterpoint to their relationship. Robin Schone shines as she makes an already alluring tale into an even more compassionate, complete plot, sending fans in search of the sex guide "Tantric tradition."

Summary: very average read
Review: I have read all of Robin Schone's novels and novellas and I hate to say it but this book was her worst work. The frank sexuality that is her trade mark is there. But this book still differs from her other novels because the heroine refused to admit her desires for about 2/3 of the book. The story was interesting as always with Robin Schone. However, having read all of her books Ican see a definite improvement in her writing. Her heroin has matured and her heros became more mysterious. I was a bit dissapointed in Robin Schone's debut novel because 1)there was a few, although very explicit, love scenes 2) the theme is some what fantastic 3)the heroine was not so enjoyable

Summary: A good first book for a great author
Review: Elaine, a modern day Systems Analyst has woken up in the body of another woman named Morrigan in the late 1800's. Charles is fed up with his wife. He thought that theirs was a love match, but Morrigan has refused to consumate their marriage in the entire year of their marriage. Suddenly, there is a change. Morrigan has a sparkle in her eye that he didn't notice before. Something is definitely different about her. Elaine, terrified to tell her new husband that she has traveled to the past, keeps her secret, but responds to his intimate advances. But there is danger in this mysterious turn of events. Someone knows that she is not the woman she appears to be. And the only person who could know that is the woman whose identity she has overtaken.

Not as great as Schone's other stories, but an entertaining fantasy story nonetheless. The love scenes sizzle. A good addition to your romance library.
