Summary: As my 3 year old daughter says, "2 thumbs up"
Review: I remember picking this book up for the first time because I thought it was cute that the main character Lara and I had the same first name. Plus, she was a dr. and for a long time I thought that was what I wanted to be. Decided on a stay at home mom, but onto the review. :)

This was my second Sandra Brown. The first I read was Silken Web, which is my favorite, but this is just as good. this book has twists and turns and just when you think that you have it all figured out you turn the page and think to yourself nevermind. ha ha

Lara is your typical self-righteous heroine and Key is your typical rough around the edges hero with a heart of gold. But that's where the typical part ends. Believe me when I say you'll never get enough, and this one like Silken Web will earn a permanent place on your bookshelf.

Summary: Couldn't Put This One Down!
Review: I think this is the best book of hers I've read. The story kept your attention and was masterfully presented. Definitely one to have in your collection and read over again. The characters become part of you and it brings the feeling to life! One I wouldn't think twice about recommending.

Summary: Exciting, surprising and extremely entertaining.
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the characters contianed within. The only disappointment I found was the portrayal of wealth or lack thereof. The Tacketts were supposed to be a highly influential family with lots of money, but I didn't see that.
Despite that I would recommend this book to my best friend.

Summary: Best Book of Brown
Review: I wasn't much of a romance novel fan (history or contemporary or otherwise) before I read "Where There's Smoke", but I was hooked by the end of the first chapter. After reading this book, I immediately read all other Brown books I could find. But none of her other books are as intriguing and enjoyable as this book, with the exception of "French Silk" which I also like. The this novel worked is because it delivers what it intends and does not try to be what it isn't. Translated, it means that this is a good comtemporay romance novel spiced with enough intrigue and mystery to keep the audience on the edge of their seats and reading till 3 in the morning. Not to mention that Lara and Key are a pretty hot couple. Oh to have romance like that! Only in books.

Summary: A Disappointing Read
Review: I'm a fan of Sandra Brown, but I'm not a fan of this book. The hero was an immature jerk, plain and simple. Marriage between the heroine and the hero would be like a mother-son relationship. Brown tried to portray him as the proverbial "bad-boy" type, but he came off as a mama's boy (who didn't really stand up to his domineering mother) hypocrite (he slept around profusely, but accused the heroine of being a "whore" because of her publicized affair with his late brother). Also, I was very disappointed that he actually lied to the heroine at the end of the book, when [as all romance novel readers know] everyone's supposed to come clean. He claims that he only slept with the "other" woman in the novel once, which is technically correct; ... He conveniently doesn't mention that to the besotted heroine. That said, the heroine got on my nerves too, because of her overly goody-two-shoes manner and her suseptibility to the hero. These two had no chemistry between them. These character flaws combined with some absolutlely ridiculous plot twists, make this one of the most disappointing Brown novels I've read yet.

Summary: One of her best yet!
Review: I'm usually pretty good at figuring out the "whodunit" or the genteral gist of stories but with WHERE THERE'S SMOKE, I didn't see it coming! An excellent book that I couldn't put down!

Summary: Another Great Brown Novel
Review: Key Tackett and Lara Mallory are such opposites in this novel you know they are going to hook up in the end but that was the smallest of surprises in this explosive Sandra Brown novel. Lara Mallory ruined Clark Tackett's political career so Clark either killed himself or someone killed him, so why would Lara return to Eden Pass, Clarks hometown. Key, Clarks brother, and Jody, Clarks mother, just want her out so they will do anything to see it happen but Lara has one thing she needs to do and she will needs Key help. A wonderful novel with twists and turns you will not see coming, plus the secondary characters have great storylines also.
