Summary: The hero oozes sex appeal!!
Review: This book was given five stars by Romantic Times, Romantic Times RARELY give out five stars. Such a rating is only reserved for the best! And let me tell you, it was the best! The Hero, Johnny Harris, was sent to prison and is now out on perole and working for his one time high school teacher, Rachel Grant. Johnny snaps and snarls through most of the book and practically begs to have that chip on his shoulder knocked off and Rachel is the one to do it. Those who might find his frequent use of profanity offensive should stay away from this book. It is not for those who want a sweet romance, but for those who wish for a sexy, dangerous hero and a gritty tale of murder and unseen dangers. I have this book and I will keep it forever among my private collection. A true clasic!

Summary: One of the Most Recommended Reads
Review: This is my first Karen Robards' book. Though the book was published back in '93, the story was still great even read now - 8 years later. It had a good plot and good blend of mystery and romance. I liked it that the writer made the herione sounded like a real person with not a perfect body, a less attractive look, but a good heart. I also liked that the heroine and hero were reasonable and responsible persons. The writer's writing was good too, it was mature and did not engage in time wasting jibberish, which explained why the 350-page book was such an easy read.

If KR's other books are of the same standard as this one, her books definitely have an edge over other mystery/romance writers like Linda Howard, or Sandra Brown. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a dose of smile, warmth, and excitement.

Summary: Truly a best seller
Review: This was one sit on the end of your seat book. The romance and suspence were excellent. I was working in my yard today and had the book with me. When I needed a rest, I would stop and read a chapter. Well, this particular time I happen to start on chapter 50 and could not put the book down until 13 chapters later. It was that exciting. Naturally, I did not get the yardwork done, but I did finish the book. I recommend this book to anyone who likes romance/mystery. It's a winner. It deserves 20 or more stars

Summary: Excellent read!
Review: This was the first book I have read by Karen Robards and it was really, really good. I have since bought rather a lot of Karen Robards books and they are all pretty good but this is the one I recommend without a doubt.

Summary: Endless Summer
Review: While I understand that romance as a genre is for the most part purely escapist, escapist should never be an excuse for bad writing. Robard's writing is at turns silly, implausible, and downright insulting for readers. The heroine Rachel's language is stilted and unrealistic, and the speech of Rachel's octogenarian mother (who is a domineering -- if not THE domineering -- figure in the novel) is hilariously out of place (she threatens Johnny by addressing him with the 16th-century term "sirrah" -- who talks like this anymore?). Moreover, Robards attempts to interject a "class struggle" storyline into Rachel and Johnny's romance, but this attempt ends up being completely offensive to the reader (Rachel concocts a "Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?" appearance by Johnny, who ends up impressing the old-money Grants with his erudite dinner conversation and impeccable table manners -- the point is made during the dinner scene that Johnny knew which fork to use for his salad and how to correctly wield a butter knife!). Additionally, a reincarnation subplot to the mystery plot surfaces in Chapter 52 (p. 309), as if Robards were desperately searching for any means necessary to infuse some life into an otherwise flimsy romance story.

Summary: This book sizzles, intrigues and thrills!
Review: WOW! I LOVED this book, in part because I love older woman-younger man romances (this has long been a fantasy of mine!). I'd even go so far to say it is the BEST novel I've ever read, and I read a lot! I felt a huge let-down when I finished it. This story will stay with me forever. I wish Karen Robards would write a sequel, with Rachel and Johnny having a child! Johnny came across as incredibly gorgeous, sexy and REAL! But he's also had a tough life, which shows on the outside (he's rough, tough and walks on the wild side), but underneath is a beautifullly polished gem: he's caring, sweet, loving, and both wants and needs someone to love him. That someone is Rachel, who sympathizes with Johnny and believes in him. She too, is not what she appears to be on the outside (quiet, almost mouse-like) - she has great inner strength and courage; she cares about and stands by Johnny despite the surrounding heavy negativity. Theirs is a wonderful, sensual love story, exquistely written.
