Summary: Avoid this book
Review: This book was not up to Judith McNaught's typical standards. There was little to no character development, and by the end of the book, you really just didn't care what happened to the people involved. This book would have been ok as a mystery, but as a romance, it fell short. The romance between Sloan and Noah plodded along, and you never really began care whether or not they can overcome the obsticles in their way. In the end I walked away from this book very disappointed. If you haven't read Judith McNaught, don't start with this one, go read Perfect or Until You to see how amazingly Ms. McNaught can write.

Summary: Unless you're a diehard J.M. fan...
Review: If you're not than chose one of her others all of which I have enjoyed. I wouldn't give any of her other books less than 4 1/2. This book however was such a disappointment, particularly for such a best selling author! The only adjective for it is Lukewarm. Though she uses her usual base plot line, the main characters had zero chemistry and the subplot of a potential romance between two other characters peters out about halfway into the book going absolutely nowhere. The book just stops mentioning them and quite frankly I was relieved. Those long pauses between the action were even more boring than the rest of the book. There is also some information given about the suspense that is set up to be important at the time however is never mentioned again... The plot drags, the suspense is sketchy, the passion droops, and the characters lack anything charismatic enough to make them come alive. All in all a poorly woven book.

Summary: Not a bad book, but definitely up to Ms McNaught's standards
Review: If you're a first time reader of Judith McNaught's work you probably will enjoy this book. If you are a fan of her previous works, then you will be disappointed. Like "Remember When", I did not feel this book lived up to her usually standards. The characters lack their usually depth, although they are not as stale as in "Remember When." What I have always enjoyed is the attention to character interaction that Ms McNaught gives her stories. In her last two books I've felt they've have been rushed, and that she has not given them her usual attention to detail. I hope her new book shows a return to her older style of writing. If you are looking for a fantastic contemporary romance I suggest either "Paradise" or "Perfect." My favorites have always been the historical romances, and for that I suggest "Almost Heaven" or "Something Wonderful"

Summary: night whispers...
Review: ok what happened here? this book was impossible to follow, and it was one of the few i just could not finish. i think i stopped a chapter or two after Sloan and her father's reunion. it was just not believable at all. i skimmed thru the last, oh, two-thirds or half of the book, and i just could not find out how, or why, Sloan and Noah got together. there was no chemistry, no romance, no nothing!!! at first i thought she would be paired with Jess, then with Paul, anybody but Noah!!! Even his father would have been better! He was BORING. and what was with all the plots left hanging? mainly the one involving Sara and Jess. i believe the last we hear of them is when she slams the door in his face, then nothing. i have to admit, i think i'd have rather read their story than Sloan's. the only reason i gave this book 2 stars was because of the beginning, before Sloan left to meet her father and sister. that part i honestly enjoyed, but after that, i just could not continue reading.

Summary: Night Whispers... Better than I expected!
Review: Even before I picked up NIGHT WHISPERS, I was already a bit hesitant about this book. It didn't get stellar reviews as I was used to from Judith McNaught books. Frankly, I was skeptical. It seemed that many readers were not too pleased with Ms. McNaught's latest contemporary. Ok, so it's not WHITNEY, MY LOVE or PARADISE. But, I give it 4 stars because this book is still a good read. (And I've read much worse! Judith McNaught is one of the best romance writers out there!) And it definitely has the Judith McNaught flare! With diverse characters with interesting lives and captivating plot, it's sure to entertain. With a devastatingly sexy hero like Noah Maitland (a multi-millionarie business tycoon) and a squeaky clean small town cop/detective Sloan Reynolds, it's hard not to get absorbed. With reappearances by Paul Richardson (the FBI agent from Perfect) investigating Sloan's long lost father (with a shady background)... well, things are bound to get interesting. Noah's sister Courtney will knock your socks off and the secondary romance plot is also very interesting! I'm so glad Paul Richardson ends up with Paris Reynolds- he deserved this after losing Julie Mathison in Perfect! Well, with Noah & Sloan's romantic chemistry sizzling on the pages, it's hard to put the book down. (And, I think Sloan has to be one of my favorite heroines!) Oh and another thing, there's been talk that Jess & Sara's story will conclude in her next release WATER'S EDGE...

The biggest disappointment was to pull us into a relationship between Sara and Jess and leave it undeveloped. Noah's history needed more exploration than it got. Judith McNaught has had eight New York Times Bestsellers and more than Twenty million books in print.

Summary: Left Questions at the end....
Review: O.k., now I must admit that I don't think I have ever read a book by Ms. McNaught before and I probably would not have picked up this one if my mom hadn't given it to me to read....I just felt that the story was not believeable. I mean, who in their right mind would allow the FBI to pressure you into seeing a father you haven't seen in 30 years. I know that I wouldn't. Then there was the "romance" between Sloan and Noah...not believeable at all....I can't believe Ms. McNaught actually thought that she was writing about romance and not lust. Then to ending...it ended a little too quick without much descriptions and kind of without purpose. She never tells really why Paul suspected Noah or even why Carter really got involved in the money laundering....a dissappointment....

Summary: Least favorite of Judith McNaught's work...
Review: I have been a Judith McNaught fan for 7 years. I love all of her historical romance and some of her contemperory romance, but this book? I think it belongs more to suspense. I feel that Judith McNaught will fare much better in romance stories than suspense. From the beginnig of this book, there are way too many characters and you will not know who to focus on. The couple in the story do not seem to love each other very much. The sparks that readers usually find in her books are absent from this one. A disappointment... : (

Summary: Not okay
Review: I'm a devoted fan of Judith McNaught and in fact have read and bought all her books. Sad to say that this one left me out in the cold. Sure its refreshing that she wrote a novel which delved more on solving mysteries rather than on romance... but she was identified with romance books such as A Kingdom of Dreams and I find it hard to identify her with anything else. The plot though it seems great was predictable. I was surprised to see Sloan's mom and Noah's dad ending up together in the end since there's no indication that they'll end up together. A lot of scenes doesn't concern that of the hero and heroine's love for each other since suspicion is the main player of the novel. If your a devoted fan, read it. If you haven't read any of her novels yet I suggest that you skip this one and read her previous novels.

Summary: A definite page turner!
Review: For the last several books I've read, I've gone to these reviews to get an idea of what people have thought of them. I must say I was very hesitant to read this book, let alone buy it to take on vacation with me after reading what many thought! Luckily, I was very pleasantly surprised! I enjoyed this book very much and couldn't put it down until I had finished it. It was a very easy read and at times I found myself laughing out loud at Courtney's antics. The way she turned the tables on situations to put Noah and Sloan together was very entertaining. I wasn't looking for an in-depth, drawn-out drama, but instead just a fun book that kept me involved and made me want to keep on reading. The mystery was a nice touch and kept me guessing. Yes, there were several characters that could have been expanded upon, but my hope is that one day they will have their own stories to share. My only true regret is that the epilogue was our only chance to glimpse into what the future held for Sloan and Noah. I would've loved to have been there for the birth of their child and any antics that I'm sure they would've went through to get them to that birth and beyond. If you don't over-anaylize and instead take this book for what it is...a form of entertainment and a get-a-away from reality, you'll love it as much as I did.
