Summary: A terriffic read!
Review: This is not my first venture into Chick Lit, nor will it be my last, but Mlynowski is bar far one of the best writing in the genre right now. She has great character development, and some of the moments will literally have you laughing out loud (I would know, I got some weird looks on the plane while reading it). Sure, the story is familiar, but when is it not with these kind of books? This is Mlynowski's first novel but she already puts herself leaps and bounds above some women writing in the genre, such as Clare Naylor. Enjoy this one, and do what I did, which is run out and buy Fishbowl, her second novel!

Summary: It was a very witty and real novel.
Review: I really related to Milkrun. There were minimal grammical errors, with that set aside I found this book so great that I ran out to the bookstore and bought Fishbowl (another book by Sarah Mlynowski).

Summary: Hilarious!
Review: Many "chic lit" books claim to be "funny," "witty," or "humorous". And of those I've read, it's true some have made me laugh, laugh out loud even. But Milkrun had me ROLLING on the floor!

This is a hilarious look at dating and guys. I was reading it before class one day, and after a quiz before other students were done I decided to pick it up and read a little more. Unfortunetly, I had to put it down because I couldn't stop laughing out loud!

Mlynowski has a witty writing style and a humorous look on life. The story isn't half bad either, not to say it has much of a plot, but the humor carries it. I recommend this book to anyone looking for a light read that will make them laugh HARD.

Summary: A fun book about drinks, dates and getting over your ex!
Review: What would you do if your boyfriend dumped you via email and tells you he wants to see other people while he's backpacking around Thailand? When Jackie Norris, heroine of "Milkrun" by Sarah Mlynowski, gets an email like this from her boyfriend Jeremy, she decides she will go out and date every eligible man in Boston to forget about him.

Readers will be follow along breathlessly as Jackie dates, goes out to trendy Martini bars with her friends, makes new guy friends, and learns about her life and what she wants out of it. I was amazed at how straight-out and honest Jackie was; this book is told in first-person narrative and holds nothing back.

I highly recommend "Milkrun" if you are a single women - you'll love it!

Summary: Boston??
Review: To be honest I couldnt finish the book. It supposedly took place in Boston - all of these supposed bars don't exist - which being a resident of Boston made it very frustrating. It should have just taken place in Springfield, USA. It was very generic and ruined the story. For all Bostonites its easy to know that no DQ exists in the city nor parking anywhere! I hope no one who reads this book thinks any of these places exist. I recognize its a ficiton book but there have been many books that take place in Boston (ie. Living Single) that use actual places. Tsk tsk!

Summary: A book worth spending your milk money on!
Review: This is a classic example of what chick lit should aspire to be. Milkrun is intriguing, quick to read & pure fun! Look no further for a great beach/weekend read. The novel is about a 24yr old woman named Jackie. She's dealing with the typical 'quarterlife crisis' anxieties of a break-up, a dead end job and wondering what she should be doing with her life. HOWEVER this milkrun doesn't end with the ol' girl finds new boy who rescues her and she lives happily ever after. I adore that the book shows the growth and development of Jackie, which doesn't culminate in her having a new man at the end. If you're looking for a book that you can relate to, or just dive into, you'll love this book :)

Summary: Mindless for a Sunny Afternoon
Review: I enjoyed this book, although I read it a year or two ago. It's a quick read (one good for a mid to long airplane trip), but it's pretty funny. Good mind candy

Summary: Meandering...
Review: I suppose, by the definition of "Milkrun" on the back - "a slow journey" I should have been forwarned. The book isn't necessarily a slow read, but the meandering thought processes Jackie's head makes are sometimes a bit much to follow. I concur with another reviewer, her obsession with her ex is obnoxious to the point where I want to beat her over the head & scream "get over him!" The bizarre relationship with Tim begins oddly & ends oddly without any of the expected weirdness between her & the co-worker that set her up.

The most ironic hilarity were the glaring spelling errors. "peaked" instead of "peeked", "waste" instead of "waist". All while the main character boasts of her lit degree & works as a copy editor. The author needs to get herself a better copy editor.

All & all I appreciated the underuse of the typical cuss words that grace every page of other chick lit.

The abrupt ending leaves a LOT to be desired.

Summary: Run out and buy it! (or just click the button on the right)
Review: How many times can you laugh out loud at a book?? When reading MILKRUN, the answer is: a lot. Even though at times I felt disdain for Jackie's obsession with her ex Jeremy (who announces he's seeing someone else by way of email), her every emotion was totally believable and real. AND FUNNY! Jackie's observations about everything from "Law & Order" being on six times a day to the dilemma of putting just enough milk in your cereal are both insightful and hilarious. Plus, her naturally clumsy (sometimes flighty) personality is as charming as it is maddening.

To top it all off, a thoroughly satisfying ending that warmed my heart.

Summary: A great summer read!
Review: This book is a wonderful summer read to sit out in the sun by the pool for hours. Simply said; it's a fun book.
