Summary: Sarah Mlynowski Doesn't Hold Back
Review: I LOVED this book! I thought it was excellent. I will admit the editing was lacking. However I don't see that as the author's fault. She was probably quite dissappointed in that, as well.

For the people who thought this book was "sloppy" or boring, that's just because you can't relate to the main character. The main character is SOOOOOOOO NOT lacking in depth. If you want a flowery, descriptive book, then this isn't it. This isn't one of those books that describes every inch of something just so you can become bored with all the adjectives and then forget what it was they were talking about by the time you get to the end of the sentence, anyway. No, the author delves right into the storyline and get's to the point with cute little metaphors and real-life emotions.

I found myself laughing out loud NUMEROUS times with this book. I felt like I was reading MY life story! Too funny....This is a book for young women who over-analyze issues and find the humor in odd places.

I thought it was great. I did end up wanting more at the end, but I think that happens with a lot of great books...you never want them to end. Great job Sarah Mlynowski!!! I look forward to your other books. Reading Milkrun made me want to read more!

Summary: Maybe it's who you know, not how well you write
Review: Because how else would this awful example of "writing" get published?

Many of my complaints have been mentioned in previous reviews - the awful editing, the author's-annoying-tendancy-to-create-hyphenated-phrases, the Canadaisms revealing her lack of authority on the American setting, etc.

My main concern is with the heroine, Jackie. She's so self-centered and annoying. When the primary character is so miserably flawed, the only hope for the story is if the character experiences a journey in which she grows, evolves and redeems herself in some way. Jackie doesn't grow, change, evolve or improve in any way. What is the point for the reader?

Most of the other characters were so poorly developed, I could barely tell them apart. Finally, towards the end, Andrew showed some spark when he stood his ground with Jackie. But it was much too little, far too late.

Summary: Sloppy Story and Writing
Review: This is easily the lousiest "chic lit" book I've read. The writing is bland and the characters are poorly fleshed out. More than once the author gets lazy and doesn't even bother to create a character herself but invokes a well-known character in pop culture and expects the reader to just insert that well-known character into her novel. For example, the main character is "Sarah Jessica Parker, but prettier." Her office mate is "Lillith," from Cheers and the show Frazier.

The main character is the least endearing of any I've seen in a "chic lit" book, which is a bad thing considering that so much of the pleasure of reading these novels hinges on the ride the main character takes the reader on. I would analyze the storyline for you but it's so weak I've nearly completely forgotten it already.

Summary: As (or more) satisfying as a glass of milk with cookies
Review: As yet another fan of the Bridget Jones genre, I found this book to be a slight but breezy and enjoyable read. Autor Sarah Mlynowski has a unique voice and a sassy sense of humor, both of which flow freely through her pages. While I myself have never been--and never will be---the bar-hopping type, I found it easy to identify with protagonist Jackie and her search for a mate, and I loved the many references to her work as a copy editor at a romance publishing house.

Summary: Loved it!
Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. It's very funny, an easy-read, with characters you can relate to (if you are in your 20s). This is my first book of S. Mlynowsky's & now I can't wait to read "Fishbowl".

Summary: If you are between 22-26 you will like it!
Review: I really enjoyed this book. It really captured what life is like in the early twenties. I could connect to Jackie and her friends and their quirky thoughts about life in general. I enjoyed how Mlynowski brought in things that only our generation in the early twenties, would relate to. The writing in the book was done well; I never got bored with too much meaningless information. At times it was pretty graphic, if you have read it you know what I mean, but I enjoyed the book thoroughly nonetheless. The only thing that I must admit is that the ending was a bit predictable. The ending did not sway my already high opinion of the book. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is twenty something and like girlie books. I am looking forward to reading her next book!

Summary: Mildly Entertaining
Review: This book sounded like a lot of fun - I love reading about women out there in the dating world like myself going on a dating spree. Unfortunately, the action happens so fast with very little descriptions, leaving the reader unable to get into the plot or the main characters. And she only goes on one or two "dates". I thought this was about "Crazy Dating Woman"? However, she does get drunk at the same club over and over again. It was mildly entertaining and slightly funny, but I would never recommend it, simply because it wasn't worth the time it took to read! I'd take Marian Keyes any day over this.

Summary: horrible
Review: i wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. besides the fact that the story is not in the least bit interesting, sarah uses this-annoying-type-of-writing on almost every page and thinks it's funny.. it's obviously not and extremely irritating. i'd give this book no stars if i had the option.

Summary: mind-numbing
Review: Perhaps its not appropriate for me to be writing a review of this book being that i dumped it in the garbage before even reaching chapter 2. I just felt the need to vent my frustration. this book does not have an ounce of wit or creativity. i rolled my eyes through all 27 pages that i read.
