Summary: "Sex in the City" for the young twenty-something generation!
Review: There isn't a character or situation in Sarah Mlynowski's novel Milkrun that I couldn't relate to in my personal life. In fact, the book reads like it was torn from the pages of my own diary, probably similar to every other woman dating today. The witty, twenty-something protagonist, Jackie Norris, is on the rebound from her boyfriend, "Jilting Jeremy," who left her on an excursion to Thailand in order to "find himself." Surrounded by her college friends--Natalie, the Boston socialite, and Wendy, her best friend and workaholic investment banker in New York--and her roommate--Sam, whose own relationships leaves her both jealous and nauseous--Jackie discloses her most personal details in Milkrun on her search to find a boyfriend and deal with the rejected feelings left by the previous one. Like an episode of "Sex in the City" or a re-run of "Friends," we tag along on her series of dates with former high-school hunk Jonathan Gradinger, Stripe-boy Damon, and Tim, the Saint and brother of co-worker Julie. Jackie works as an editor at Cupid, publishing home to the romance novels, and in between time spent there avoiding fellow editor and punctuation-obsessed Helen, she attempts to earn the next belt in her Tae Kwon Do class and ventures out on a weekly basis with Natalie and friends to her favorite bar, Orgasm, occasionally running into Andrew, Jeremy's best friend. Then, of course, there's her family and extended family and dealing with the fact she's dating a man with the same name as her father. I see myself in Jackie; every single near college-aged girl has dated and been hurt by a Jeremy; we all try to please but end up dreading dealing with the families; and we all lean on our friends to make it through the tough times. I recommend this book because it makes you feel normal about your own life, smile at your own bad dating experiences and look forward to an ending like the novel itself.

Summary: One of the funniest chick novels ever written!
Review: As a twenty-something female, I am quite proud of Sarah Mlynowski. She has proven that women in their twenties aren't dimwits. Her comic timing is so precise and her characters are so vivid and witty that each chapter made me laugh out loud on so many occasions! (I even laughed out loud on the subway to work!)

Jackie's boyfriend, Jeremy, breaks the news that he wants out of the relationship in an e-mail. Brokenhearted, she decides to enter the dating scene with a bang! With the company of her neurotic friends Natalie and Sam, she hits the Boston club scene in search of Mr. Right -- or several Mr. Rights -- but her dates were anything but. The best part of the novel is the one-liners. I especially love the chapter in which she exchanges e-mails with her friends about a new guy who may or may not become her ideal.

The only disappointment in this novel is when it approaches the ending. Her character becomes less funny and more neurotic. Also, almost every paragraph consists of questions. It irritated me after a while.

Other than that, Milkrun is perfection! Are you in the bargain for a hilarious chick novel? Pick up Milkrun, especially if you're in your early or mid twenties. You'll be proud of this talented new author, I assure you!

Summary: Excellent Sunday afternoon read
Review: I sat down with this book on a Sunday morning and didn't put it down until five hours later when it was finished. It's easy to read, funny, and the main character is one that any young woman, single or otherwise, can associate with. I couldn't believe this was Sarah Mlynowski's first book. I can't wait to her next one.

Summary: Cute cute cute!
Review: After receiving this book I decided to read it right away. It took to me about 2 days to finish it, and I truly was disappointed that I was done with it...such a cute story! It's one of those books where you feel bad for the lead character in the beginning, but after a while, you WISH you WERE that person! I know I did...I actually want a sequel to come out to find out what happens a year later!
The book was easy to read, which is always a plus...and at no point was I not hooked on the storyline...the first night, I was actually mad at myself for being too tired to read anymore!
This book is definitely a must-read for any woman just wanting to figure out guys and the L-word (love)!

Summary: lots of laughs
Review: This book made me laugh out loud - more than once! It's upbeat, funny, and realistic. I think the reason I like it so much is because Mlynowski has captured exactly how my friends and I talk to each other in her characters. So maybe that's why I thought it was a riot. The dating disasters in the book could actually happen and are fun to read. One of the best "quick reads" I've read in months.

Summary: A very modern coming-of-age story
Review: Through her unique and quasi-naive perpective of the world, our heroine Jackie Norris shares her understanding of dating in the twenty-first century, rendering a hilarious yet bittersweet account. Brave in its truthfulness yet innocent in voice, this novel gets to the heart of it all.
