Summary: Another winner from Red Dress Ink
Review: These little books are highly addictive! Milkrun is another novel about a 20-something single, professional woman. This novel is set in Boston, and I enjoyed the change of setting. (Not that I'm tired of reading about NYC or London!) Jackie's roommate and her boyfriend are a source of many chuckles, as are her two best friends. I enjoyed the characters in this book, and while the plot is pretty run of the mill, this is an enjoyable read.

Summary: Was this book edited?
Review: On pp. 14-15, the author has the narrator reading The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn in a "Twentieth Century American Prose" class. The author supposedly has a degree in literature. God save higher education!

Summary: I'm not a copy editor, but...
Review: Plot-wise, Mlynowski's novel is cute, a typical entry in the single-girl genre. The only thing that stands out about it is the INCREDIBLY shoddy editing! I find it ironic that a book with a protagonist who is a copy editor is so full of errors: "you're" used for "your," "their" used for "there," etc. Frankly, I just couldn't get past the errors to enjoy the story. Maybe if the story had been stronger, something more than just "cute," it could have overcome this major hurdle...but I doubt it.

Summary: Honestly?
Review: My roomate loved this book; I will say that. I, however, couldn't get through 30 pages. I could deal with the usual recipe for single-girl-book: 1) the bad boyfriend 2) friends with similiar traits as narrator 3) friend with opposite traits as narrator 4) description of entry-level job. Once it got to ingredient number 5, however, NEUROTIC MOTHER, I thought, this is WAY too much of a cliche for me. I admire that Sarah Mlynowski wrote about Boston instead of London or New York, and I admire that she had the energy and dedication to sit down and write a book. However, although writing a novel at a young age is impressive, it's more impressive to write a good novel at any age.

Summary: Milkrun kept me runnin for more
Review: Milkrun is absolutely one of my favorite books right now. Sarah's way of translating her quirky real life outlook into a narrative masterpiece is outstanding. I have read this book twice and each time, I laugh at how true to life and fun this book is. If I could see myself as a twenty-something Bostonian, (Canadian, to Sarah) than I would be just like her. The type of girl that is famous for ordering in pizza, fickle with falling in love, and having a most postive and humorous outlook on life. This is a must read for teenagers and adults. Make sure that you save it for when you are done with required school reading because you will be sure to not put this book down! Also perfect if you just broke up with some immature guy and need some form of mockery to get over it!

Summary: Entertaining book but unlikable narrator
Review: Like others stated in their posts, I read this book because I'd read and enjoyed "See Jane Date" and was looking forward to Red Ink's next book in the series. Also like others have stated, I too, felt this book was entertaining but did not measure up to "See Jane Date." Although the narrators of both books are about single twenty-somethings detailing their romantic adventures, the tones of the two books are entirely different and this is where "Milkrun" comes up short.

Jackie, the narrator of "Milkrun", comes across as mean-spirited, hostile, and shallow. The first two emotions are understandable in the beginning of the book when she is dumped by her boyfriend, but it's perplexing why she is still acting like a rhymes-with-witch more than 3/4 through the book... Jackie is not nearly as likeable or as charming as Jane in "See Jane Date," and reading about the vapid world of single women dating requires a more sympathetic character than is presented in "Milkrun." However, there are some genuinely funny scenes and lines, and the book is a fast read. While "Milkrun" is a disappointing follow up to "See Jane Date," it is a funny look at the singles scene from the perspective of a twenty-four year old.

Summary: The Milkman is Here!
Review: I LOVED Milkrun! Sarah Mlynowski is a refreshing, humorous, and creative author offfering witty lines and entertaining characters. Jackie Norris will keep you running until you turn the last page. Whether you are a lost twenty-something or if you wish to visit your twenties-Milkrun is for you.

Summary: Are you kidding me with this?
Review: Don't get me wrong--I'm a big fan of chick lit, like the Marian Keyes and "Bridget Jones" books. But even light entertainment should be well-written, and this book isn't. It's a huge, almost plotless mess, dull and full of errors. The narrator, Jackie, works as a copy editor for a publisher, but ridicules a co-worker who actually cares about good grammar and punctuation. Well, somebody associated with this book should have cared a little more about those things. In addition, Jackie is an annoying and unlikeable heroine who feels compelled to share her boring, unremarkable thoughts on every little thing. For instance, she thinks soy milk tastes like regular milk with sugar in it. She doesn't drink red wine because it stains her teeth. And, she feels that if you go to a cosmetics counter for a free makeover, it's not really free because you'll be expected to buy the products that were used, although you can usually get away with buying just a lipstick, but if you get a free gift with purchase, that usually contains a lipstick as well, although it's never the color you want. . . . WHO CARES??? Does the author really think Jackie's thoughts are interesting and original? The book is not only tiresome, it's at times downright unpleasant--the author seems fixated on the topic of body odor. I'm shocked at the good reviews on this page, but I figure most of them were written by the author's friends and relatives (a dead giveaway: the numerous "unhelpful" votes the negative reviews have received). The first Red Dress Ink book ("See Jane Date") was better than I expected, but this one was much worse. I truly wish I hadn't wasted my time on it, not to mention my [money]. There are a lot of books out there--please trust me when I say you can find a better one than this!

Summary: True to life and then some.
Review: I think I dated all of those guys Jackie did. UGH!

Milkrun is among the best reads for the "looking for love (in all the wrong places...) set. I was glad to see that the main character picks herself up when her dope of a boyfriend runs out on her to "find himself" (what a crock that is, haven't we all heard that?!)

I HIGHLY recommend Milkrun, along with "Heartbreaker" by Kim Corum (literally, this chick is a heartbreaker) and "Rachel's Holiday" by Marian Keys (this chick just needs help).

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: you better read it
Review: This is a funny book. I read Me Times THree right before this novel and really am glad Amazon recommended I buy Milkrun when I ordered Me Times Three. This novel was far better. My boyfriend kept asking me what was so funny because I was laughing outloud every few minutes. I love the way the author writes Jackies thoughts. Buy this book. You won't regret it.
