Rating: Summary: Do not waste your time with this book Review: It is impossible to take a book seriously when the writer and editor do not know how to correctly use the words "than" and "then". This book is poorly written, contains incredibly shallow characters and was a waste of time. I'm very glad that I did not spend any money on this book. I don't want to encourage this man to write. I don't care what color a writer is, I only care about what he/she writes. Baisden desperately needs therapy, lessons in the proper use of English and to find a new line of work.
Rating: Summary: ok Review: This was an ok read, for fun. It's the story of Malcolm who sleep with women for money, but finally meets his true love. Also Simon, who's in love with the wrong woman, and Ariel who wants to meet the right man for once. And Teddy, who's a stripper, a player, and who has problems paying child support. An overrall good read, for entertainment.
Rating: Summary: Light, enjoyable reading Review: Interesting & scandalous storylines and amusing characters ! The Maintenance Man is good, light reading. Taking a trip? Got a few hours to waste in the airport? This is a fun read!
Rating: Summary: It's better to know the truth Review: Very interesting book, although I knew by the title that the book would not really hold my attention. The character in the book, Malcolm, was a true hustler who should have got more than what he acquired in the end. Although, this book is my second purchase by Michael Baisden, I am not surprised that the book was very confusing and just showed how a true player got his in the end.
Rating: Summary: EDGE OF YOUR SEAT READING! Review: Hats off to Michael, who was truly at his best while penning The Maintenance Man! It was just the book that I needed...a quick, fast, fun read that just too hard to put down. While I really can't say that I actually know a real-life gigolo, I think every woman has known a Teddy in her life. Thanks for a great book, Michael....can't wait until the next one!
Rating: Summary: AWESOME Review: This book was very fascinating and witty. I really enjoyed how he made the characters flow and come to life on each page. I hope there will be a sequel to Maintenance Man. Micael Baisden you are off to an excellent start please keep up the good work and don't keep us waiting to long.
Rating: Summary: I'm so disappointed... Review: I must agree with Jaha. This book was so undeveloped, shallow, and disturbing. I agree that the voices of the characters jumped so that you didn't know at times what voice you were reading in. This is a very easy read. I read it in a matter of a few hours. I was highly disappointed, because I recall waiting for this book to come out back in 1999 and I toiled with the thought of purchasing it. And then I finally purchased the book and I am totally disappointed. If you want to read a book that requires you not to think, to slightly entertain you, and/or to keep you occupied while indisposed..."borrow" this book. I wouldn't recommend buying it at all!
Rating: Summary: Good Read Review: Maintenance Man was a good read. It tells the story of a modern day gigolo. It's simply the man doing what many women do in our society today. I don't condone either, but it exists everywhere. It was a good and easy read and didn't take too much thought. I would recommend this book if you just want something light to read while at home relaxing or vacationing! I hear that Michael Baisden has a new book out and once again, I plan to spend some more money!
Rating: Summary: Think I Need a TUNEUP! Review: LOL! Seriously, though, this was a great, fast read. I enjoyed it, although found it to be a little unbelievable. However, there probably are a whole lot of maintenance men out there. And although they may not be as blatant about it as the main character in this book, they exist. You know them, the boyfriend who is always begging you for money, or never seems to be around when you need them, that bootie call in the middle of the night, etc. And trust me, one way or another you are going to pay! However, it was enjoyable to discover that the main character did have more than just one talent and sometimes, in spite of yourself, you find yourself pulling for him. I would recommend this book if you want some laugh out loud moments or as I said, a fast, funny read.
Rating: Summary: Much, Much Better Review: I first read Men Cry In The Dark and did'nt like it so much, but this novel was great. I loved the way the story unfolded and all. I loved the relationship between Malcom and Melvin. The end of this book truly had me in tears, it was such a fabolous read.
