Summary: OK, so where do I start and how do I put this? ¿
Review: This book has got to be the worse book I have ever read in my whole entire life, and I have read some pretty bad books! The storyline was dull, the dialogues dragged, the people were totally out of touch with reality, the characters were shallow and one dimensional, and the author did a poor job in making the readers feel for the characters. I guess I should have stopped reading when I realized how boring the book was after the first few chapters, but for some reason I wanted to see how far could bad writing go. The book offered no surprises. Everything that happened was predictable. How can this author be a bestseller of anything?! How anyone can think this book was gook is beyond me. To me the book was a waste of paper and money, and I advise people not to waste their precious time.

Summary: Broken Beyond Repair
Review: I've read a couple of Mr. Baisden's books and they're okay. This one falls into the same category with me. He claims to want to help heal relationships when in actuality, I can see the open wounds in the author himself. Vulnerability is good in a good writer. It helps readers understand the characters as well as the writer. Mr. Baisden is failing in this area. You can almost hear the excuses he gives just before he portrays his female characters as desperate, easy, gullible, needy, nagging, suspicious and a plethora of other unflattering characteristics which seems to be a theme of his. Rather than make a statement for my review, I have a question. If the main character had been a woman, wouldn't she be called "The [prostitute]?"

Summary: An Easy Read
Review: Michael Baisden's novel is a decent enough read, but it tends to be somewhat predictable, in it's telling of a man who is a professional giggolo. My friends raved about this book being so "good", so perhaps I was expecting more than I received.
My suggestion is to pick it up from the library like I did....

Summary: Excellent!
Review: This was the first Baisden book I have read and it was GREAT! I actually stayed up way past my bedtime to finish it. The characters were very real and compelling. I could feel their pain and emotions.

Mr. Baisden does an excellent job of capturing the commonalities that unite us all. He writes eloquently, yet with real sincerity.

I hope he writes a new book soon. I'm going to read his other books right away.

Congrats to Mr. Baisden, a self-made success!

Summary: LOVE REALLY IS MORE POWERFUL THAN LUST
Review: Malcolm Tremell is a chip off the old block: literally. His father was murdered in the middle of bedding down the next door neighbor after Malcolm had spent his entire adolescence witnessing his father make a mockery out of women. His mother was the greatest victim of all but stayed with his father because he was the only love she had ever known.

After charging high school classmates fifty dollars each to escort them to their proms and figuring out he could get away with it, Malcolm turns to the gigolo life and for twelve years, charges women two hundred dollars an hour to wine, dine, and blow their minds. But even playas get tired of playing and Malcolm's thrill is gone once he lays eyes on Toni, a graceful dancer who steals his heart after a gutsy performance on stage.

Simon, Malcolm's best friend, owns a successful nightclub in Atlanta. In between jet-setting from Chicago to Los Angeles, Malcolm spends some quality time in Atlanta with his buddy. Simon has his own problems, including a club manager with sticky fingers and a fiance that is fed up with his lack of attention. Simon has neglected Cynthia by dedicating so much time to his flourishing business so she turns to a shady minister for sexual satisfaction.

Ariel, who replaces the thieving club manager, is sick of her mother pressuring her to settle down. As a last resort, she turns to a dating service and ends up involved with a stalker followed by a married man. Ariel is looking for a mixture of handsome looks, financial stability, and toe-curling sex. Eventually, after getting mixed up in a few violent incidents, she realizes that what she was looking for was in front of her the entire time.

The Maintenance Man is a quick, fun read. The characters are lively and realistic. More importantly, a few lessons can be learned from this book. Kudos to Mr. Baisden for such an entertaining novel.

Summary: It's taking me too long to read
Review: I love this author and his initiative, but The Maintenance Man has taken me way too long to read and I probably won't ever finish it. I purchased it well over three months ago and I'm only halfway through it. It's VERY slow paced. This automatically makes me give a book a lower rating because I'm a reader who can usually finish a book that's well worth reading in about two to three days tops. If the book is a real page turner, I'll finish it in hours, losing sleep if I have to. If you're in to the subject matter, I suggest trying your luck at reading this. If you're just curious about Mr. Baisden's work, I suggest picking up the best selling Men Cry In the Dark.

Summary: A MUST READ
Review: Once I started reading this book, I could NOT put it down until I was finished! This is Mr. Baisden's BEST book. If you read none of his other books, you must read this one. I enjoy reading books with characters that seem like real people; to me, it makes the story more believeable and more enjoyable. READ THIS BOOK!!! You'll enjoy it, I promise.

Summary: Review From A White Boy.
Review: This book was awful! Lets start with the ... title, not to mention its use at every chance he could get. The constent switching from First-person to Third is just one of the anoying elemetry writing problems Baisden has. The book is full of bad black stareotypes and cast of caritors written with no atempet of originality, respect for his carictors or his own writting. The educated affluent black caritors seem to never leave there getto mentalitey. It seems to this reader after seeing his cheesy overalls w/ no shirt picture on the back that he wants to live in his book in the worst way. This book is like a bad ... No matter how bad it gets you still have to look.

Summary: THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD!!!
Review: I love books that basically keep me interested from beginning to end. Books that make you almost forget eating! That's a good book, "Maintenance Man" is the book that does just that.

From beginning to end Michael Baisden creates characters that are just like people we know. You see there flaws and laugh at their situations. You can see the whole book unfold just like a movie right in front of you.

I guarantee that you will enjoy this book.
