Summary: Outstanding !
Review: Totally outstanding and easy reading. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, one of the best book I've read this year. I felt as if I knew the characters in the book, and I really admire the author's writing which was smooth and to the point. This book was good and I highly recommend it to everyone to read. Outstanding !

Summary: I Just Don't get it!
Review: If I had to summarize this book in one word, that word would have to be "Fiction". I find myself struggling with exactly what was the author trying to tell us. Was it meant to invoke a comic reaction? There were a few good one liners in the book. Mr. Baisden must feel that he must fill his pages with sexual situations and anatomy lessons to keep our attention. The book reads more like a script to a bad X rated movie than a literary work of art. I feel that the author tried too hard to interject his personal viewpoints on life on the reader. Whenever a dialog began to develop between two characters, one of the characters would break out in a speech, often spotting out some ridiculous opinion on relationships. Speaking as a man I must tell Mr. Baisden that it IS possible for a man to see and attractive woman without plotting and scheming of a way to get her into bed! This book did little to clarify the mysteries of male female relationships. IF anything it may have put harmful thoughts into the minds of some readers. If anyone believes that the opinions of the male characters in this book are true then we have much greater issues than just bad fiction.

Summary: Baisden, this is a sad way for you to be self-employed!
Review: I am sorry but Michael it's time for you to grow up! This 3rd book, MM, is just more of the "pimp-playa-babylaya" obsession you have. With your 1st work, NS, I gave you credit for trying to be a relationship expert. With #2, MCITD, I said how awful that this "brotha" is both an instigator AND illiterate to boot. Now, this "book," Maintenance Man, is more of the same "hateful brother & promiscuous sister" themes. Mike, you may think this stuff is funny while you are making money. Although the characters are fictional, the issues are real. The evil which comes from your words will develop a life all it's own.

Another thing! Are we readers supposed to be stupid enough to believe that all these overly-flattering 5-star reviews are anything other than "Milli Vanilli" fakes? Check it out, especially the early reviews for MCITD and this book, TMM. Examples -- Oh, Michael, you've done it again! Wake up call! Fascinating! Captivating! The best book I've ever read! Peace black man. Don't be so critical my sistahs. I couldn't put it down. Oh Michael, I read your whole book in 2 days. Wonderful! Etc. (NOTE: Many of these bogus 5-star reviews are either in capital letters or followed by billions of exclamation points.)

Baisden's works fall in the same category as David Duke (yes, of the Ku Klux Klan), illegal drugs, tobacco addiction, and other "poisons" that unaware Blacks either ignore or consume. If you have to read this book, either borrow it or keep your original receipt in case you decide you want a cash refund.

Oh well, I guess negative attention and a little money in your pocket is better than nothing at all, hunh, Mike!

Summary: Maintance is definitley required for what is truly broken...
Review: How disturbing . Black woman; you are the Mother of all civilization. How the mighty seem to have fallen when a story like this that portrays our Queens as mindless, lust driven, emotionally inept creatures, gets rave reviews from their very own ranks ! Woman ! This is not you ! Mr Baisden, I expect writers to produce what sells and you have given the people what they want. If this novel had been written by a non-African American, we would be calling for their literary license and rightfully so ! It is not OK to saturate the public conscience with degrading characters for the sake of "entertainment". It has become chic to be known as a reader in the African-American community and it has become very profitable to be an African-American author. We are reaching an audience now that we were told did not exist. What responsibilty comes along with that. Mr. Baisden, once you make the money you want, how important will it become to publish something of substance that will give you some personal satisfaction. Please don't continue to abuse your female audience in the same manner your characters do. Ladies, don't accept anything less than exemplary behavior from the men in your bedroom whether they are in between the sheets or in between the pages. We also have a responsibilty as readers. I challenge you Mr. Baisden. The ground is fertile. You have the forum. The time is now. I know you are capable. Rise above where you are. Change your paradigm. Honor your responsibility to your work, to your people, to your God, and to yourself.

Summary: Easy read, funny, predictable
Review: I enjoyed the maintenance man, it was an easy read but not a page turner. I thought the book was fairly predicatable. The ending wasn't what I had expected but everyone could stand to be forgiven. I liked the close relationships between the brothers in the book. I enjoyed Men Cry in The Dark much better although I did enjoy the Maintenance Man. The dialogue was very real but couldn't you have toned it down a little bit. Good book would definitely recommend. Waiting for the next one. Keep up the good work!

Summary: excellent book. hard to put down.
Review: Michael you have a gift I swear. Your books are so very down to earth and always have characters that your readers can't wait to see what happens to. Keep up the excellent work. Just when I thought you couldn't top Men Cry in the Dark you came up with another masterpiece!

Summary: Funny Story With Cast of Characters
Review: "Maintenance Man" is one of those books whose release I eagerly awaited. Now that the wait is over, I can say it was definitely worth it. At first I wasn't sure if I were going to like this book, but after completing it I can say the following (1) Light Fare (2) Easy Reading (3) Funny, Hilarious Scenes and Dialogue (4) A couple of twists and (5) Seemed like I was watching a parody or some other kind of film. If you're looking for a deep, DEEP book, keep looking; but if you want a light, easy and entertaining face paced read, go pick up a copy of "Maintenance Man". Good job, Mike Baisden.
