Rating: Summary: What's the big deal? Review: I am still trying to figure out what's so great about this so-called author and his so-called novels. All 3 of his works are so poorly written and developed that I have no desire to finish them. Thank God I borrowed his books and did not spent money on them. I am really stunned at the females who provide financial and moral support this unmarried, middle-aged man. I lived in Chicago for some time and all of Baisden's talk on tv, radio and his books sound like the demasculated stuttering of bitter, drunk, disillusioned brothers who loitered the street corners of Chicago's southside during the 1970's. I wish the author success -- not in writing and talk shows, but to overcome whatever his inner demons are. Also, I pray that these female readers who give Baisden anything more than 3 stars on his writing are also on the road to recovery, too.
Rating: Summary: MY FIRST BUT CERTAINLY NOT MY LAST Review: THIS IS THE FIRST BOOK THAT I HAVE READ BY MICHAEL BAISDEN AND I CAN ASSURE YOU IT WILL NOT BE MY LAST. I FOUND IT HARD TO PUT THIS BOOK DOWN. I FELT LIKE I WAS HAVING A CONVERSATION WITH FRIENDS AND WE WERE TALKING ABOUT PEOPLE WE KNOW.I WAS CAPTIVATED BY THE CHARACTERS AND IT WAS EASY TO FOLLOW THEIR STORYLINES. I HEARD MICHAEL ON LOCAL RADIO AND WAS INTRIGUED. I HAD TO READ THIS BOOK AND I AM SO GLAD I DID.
Rating: Summary: Languid and Predictable Review: It's rare that I complain about these kinds of things because I'm not one for lengthy descriptions, but I do expect the author to initially set up the atmosphere for me, and lead me a little in character development. Environmental descriptions are important, and 'The Maintenance Man' failed to electrify me because the characters simply plane hopped to Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Chicago. There were no indepth descriptions; ie. street names, atmospheric descriptions, or people descriptions. I really couldn't invoke fundamental character traits because the characters lacked depth, and were too defined by their actions. Also, the story line is a rendention of 'Cheaters' without the lovely details and descriptions. Baisden tells an interesting story, but the novel needs more enriched & developed characters, poignant descriptions, and twists to the tale. I did, however, enjoy 'Men Cry In The Dark'. :-)
Rating: Summary: It don't get no better! Review: Well it looks like Micheal have done it again. This book was excellent from beginning to end. Micheal know how to write for the minds of men and women. I had the honor of meeting Micheal at a seminar in Raleigh NC. The seminar was best I've been to in a long time. In conclusion I want to say this book was worth the wait. Keep up the good work Micheal!
Rating: Summary: Same Thing...Different Title Review: I got a few laughs off this book, but it was so similar to Why Men Cry... that I really could not enjoy it. I had the whole story figured out by the mid-point of the novel (maybe even before that). Another problem I had was (I know this is nitpicky), but a doctor would never give the definition of Intracranial Hemorrhage as "bleeding in the heart". Intracranial Hemorrhas is a neurological defict...it is a Stroke. I felt the editor(s) did not do their job to look out for mistakes like these (and a few typos...less than in Why Men Cry...).
Rating: Summary: THE BEST I'VE READ IN A WHILE.. Review: MB, YOU'VE FOUND A NEW FAN IN ME. I STUMBLED UPON MEN CRY IN THE DARK QUITE BY ACCIDENT, BUT MAINTENENCE MAN WAS DONE QUITE ON PURPOSE! I REALLY ENJOYED YOUR STYLE AND THE WAY THE STORY JUST FLOWED. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND YOU'LL HAVE A FAN FOR LIFE.
Rating: Summary: A Must Read Review: This book was recommended to me by a friend and we both agree it was one of the best books we have read in a long time. I laughed out loud and totally enjoyed this book. I just enjoyed the characters and the story line. I look forward to Michael Baisden's next book.
Rating: Summary: Great Book ; Very Informative Review: I just loved this book , I really enjoyed Micheal's first book too , but this book just gets better , I also think that this book is very informative to ladies and to men.
Rating: Summary: GOOD STORY, BUT WAS LACKING.... Review: After Men Cry in the Dark I was all pumped up for another can't put it down story that just wasn't there this time. But I'm faithfull, I'll be here waiting for the next one.
Rating: Summary: Most refreshing book I've read in months! Review: Very interesting. Many unexpected twists. The characters seemed so real. The book was refreshingly unpredictable and very interesting. Good to finally read a book about African-American characters where everyone isn't in the hood. Baisden has captured me as a faithful reader from now on!
