Summary: The Maintenance Man
Review: I really, really did not like this book. I didn't like the way the characters talked. For such intelligent people they sounded so juvenile. When I got to page 100 I threw the book out. I'm really sorry I didn't like it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Deviant behavior at it's best!
Review: MAINTENANCE MAN was one of those guilty pleasures that you know isn't your cup of tea, but you can't wait until the last drop! This book had it's share of minor typos and quick shifts from one scene to another, but I didn't care. I read it in three days and loved every minute of it. From Malcolm's life as a high priced gigalo, to Simon and Cynthia disfuncional relationship, to Teddy's brazen sexual escapades, and Ariel's sad selection of men, this book has all the fun you need.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Cute and entertaining, but shallow....
Review: This book was fast-paced and entertaining. If you are looking for something funny and quick to read on a lazy Saturday afternoon, this book is it. At times, it is quite funny, but that is what makes this book a disturbing read at times. The main character, Malcolm, for all his supposed musical talent, is just another man looking to breeze through life by using women and calling it his "career". Even when Malcolm's secret is uncovered to Antoinette, he still doesn't completely atone for being a male prostitute.

As far as the plot goes, I'd give the book an "8". As far as character development, a "5" (Ariel, Cheryl, and all other women are TOTALLY undeveloped characters), and literary value, a "2"... grammatical errors abound. (Sometimes you are even unsure as to who is talking because the book jumps abruptly in voice).

In other words, if you want to read it, borrow it, don't buy it.

Summary: Wanted: Maintenance Man!
Review: This book was sexy, sassy, smart and funny! I loved it, it's a quick read and a nice change of pace from the usual boy meets girl love stories! Read Mr. Baisden's book: Why Men Cheat first and you'll see why "maintenance men" are in demand!

Summary: Baisden has a long way to go!!
Review: I give this book a thumb down. I felt that the characters personalities could have been more developed. I wasn't at all captivated. Normally when reading a novel I find myself in another world, and become one with the characters and their development. When reading this novel it displayed no such qualities, it was simply a book, the main characters somehow popped out of nowhere, and Baisden was unable to truly bring to life his female characters. This novel lacked feelings. I did however finish this book in only a matter of hours, but this was simply in hopes of getting to the good part. Unfortunately I never got there.

Summary: "Too Typical"
Review: Very disappointed. This book was too typical. The book had it's funny moments and surprise turnouts here and there, but for the most part, it was very predictable and left much to be desired.

May sound petty but the cover design on this book also left alot to be desired! Makes the book look like "garbage" literature before you even open it.

Baisden is definitely talented - I love to hear him speak - but this book is definitely not his best work and pales in comparison to MCITD and NSWMC (I'm reading NSWMC now and it is both hilarious and sadly realistic - a fun read)!

Summary: Great Book
Review: This was my first time reading a book by Baisden and I thought it was excellent. It moved quickly and focused well on the characters of the book. I personally would have like to have seen him explore the idea of Ariel and Simon. Baisden is a very good writer and I am looking forward to getting his other books.

Summary: Save your money
Review: I read three books a week. One to stimulate my mind and the others for enjoyment.

This book did neither. It was one of the worst attempts of being hip that I have ever experienced. And if another author refers to Atlanta as Hotlanta, I think I will scream.

The author gave the gigolo more honor and dignity than the minister. Don't get me wrong, there are ministers that don't deserve honor, but come on. . .

Try again my brother - realism really works (even in Atlanta)!

Summary: Intriging...yet tasteful.
Review: First of all before I say anything about the book, I had previously heard a lot of good things about it. I had read "Men Cry In the Dark" and liked the real images of successful black men, so I decided to check out this 3rd book by Michael Baisen. Bu redaing the ist chapter i learned of the "real" deal of the controversial topic of Black Male Prostitution / Black Male exotic entertainment. The main character, Derrick Reed, is portrayed as a high priced giggilo, following the footsteps of his deceased father. His charater only seems okay only in the beginning as well as his best friend Simon and the lovable and womanizing "Teddy Bear" (Theadore). But the female characters (Ariel, Cynthia, Toni) make no sense with. Ariel is a typical black woman who complains to often and turned down 3 successful black men to stoop so low to get involved with a married man. glad she got the tables turned in Chaptre 35! And as far as Derrick Reed IT WAS SO FUNNY HOW HE GOT BUSTED IN THE END.....

Summary: A turn pager like never before
Review: I was so upset reading this book because it was so short. I have never in my life read a book that made all these situations seem so real to men.I honestly have to give praise to the author Michael Baisden do to the real facts and being real. I hope there will be a part two of this book. The Character Malcolm Tremell had to be the most intriguing person out of the whole book; not only because he was the main charactor but because he was not afraid of a thing. And Ariel was my second best out of the book due to her strenght and not holding back from what she believe in. I hope one day most of the black sisters and brothers in america take the time to read this book very carefully and learn about the pro's and con's of men, women, sex, money, life and love.
