Rating: Summary: Boring and predictable. Review: For some reason, I've been reading quite a few of Judith McNaught's books recently and they all come out the same. As with all romance novels, of course, it's always a "happily ever after"ending and in her epilogues, there's always a happy, loving wonderful ending with a child or children in the picture. Come on! Get with the real world!!!
Rating: Summary: A great sequel to Corey's story in "Double Exposure". Review: After reading Corey's story in "Double Exposure" , in A GIFT OF LOVE, I was wondering how her step-sister, Diana, would have a story of her own. Judith McNaught did a good job of not repeating herself too much unlike some other sequels of other authors. Diana was just as I expected her to be. Cole was a hero and he was real enough to come with some domineering and self-confident traits. After all, he was supposed to be a very successful businessman and he shouldn't be PERFECT - nobody is.
Rating: Summary: A good story, but don't expect too much. Review: I have to say I was a little disappointed with this one after reading Until You. Unlike one reviewer, I liked the dining room scene when the Foster's are recounting family memories. It gave depth to the characters. I only wish there were more details about Cole and Diana's deepening relationship. I felt very confused with that scene in the plane. I kept wondering if I had missed something. I also felt that it ended too soon after the trial scene. I had to fill in all the blanks after I finished the book just to satisfy my curiosity. I'm giving Ms. McNaught a few more chances with her other books, but this one is not my favorite.
Rating: Summary: I love this book. Review: A couple of days ago, I came across this book by chance, and I started reading the first few pages. I am not able to put the book down. It is truly a great book. It is the kind of book which makes you feel you are actually living the events of the story. I really have nothing else to say except that I strongly recommend it to you all.
Rating: Summary: Wow! I didn't think a book this bad could ever be published! Review: Is this really the same author of Paradise and a gaggle of great historical romances? Or is an evil, synonymously named doppelganger polluting the bookstores? The characters were pathetically one-dimensional and the relationships were poorly developed and written. Oh, I guess it is the same author since this book's one trait common to McNaught's previous works is the annoying habit of idealizing the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Unfortunately, this book lacks both the characterization and wit to fill the glittering void.
Rating: Summary: Very Disappointing! Expected much more Review: I was very disappointed when i read this book, i was cravingfor another "Paradise" and instead read a book that had noneof the passion and love that was in Judith's earlier novels. The main character "Cole" didn't even come close to "Matt", and I can count the number of pages that was dedicated to the leading characters only. I'll say it again, if you want to read a great book read "Paradise"!! my all time favourite, i suppose i should stop comparing other books to it.
Rating: Summary: Great story - Entertaining! Review: This book is an enjoyable, fun read! The portion of the book that covered Diana's early infatuation with Cole was touching and well written. Unlike some of the readers, I really liked the character of Cole and in certain ways found him to be more simpathetic and sensitive than some other JM "heros".I didn't give this book 5 stars for two reasons: 1) the extremely long and tedious dining room table conversation devoted to the history of the Foster's business and a camping trip; and 2) the need for a little more of the story to explain the deepening relationship between Cole & Diana. (I agree with one other reader that Diana is a bit of a wimp!) But aside from these tiny issues, DO NOT miss this book; it's a great read!
Rating: Summary: Wow! What a great book! Review: This was the first book I read by Judith McNaught and certainly not the last. I can't stop telling my friends about this book, and the other three I've read this week!
Rating: Summary: I Was Captivated From Page One!!! Review: I don't understand-why is everyone acting as if Remember When is so terrible? As a reader who has read all the favorites-Something Wonderful, Almost Heaven, Once And Always, Perfect..etc, I must say this novel is second to none. As a reader who has read almost every romance novelist from Bertrice Small to Elizabeth Lowell to Johanna Lindsey to Robin Schone, Judith McNaught always keeps me coming back to her-and in this contemporary novel, she did not disappoint! The childhood scenes touched me most deeply, when Cole was so poor he had to eat the rotting apples that Diana brought for the horses. I must say, that scene was second only to when he gallantly rescued Diana from certain humiliation at the White Orchid Ball. The ending was touchingly poignant, when Cole speaks about his youth's dream of making love with a woman seeing fireworks over his shoulder. Diana is a strong heroine-building a family enterprise from nothing-not a whiner who can do nothing but sob and bemoan life's travails.
Rating: Summary: J.M.'s worst ever!!!!!!!!! Review: I absolutely loathed this book. It was awful. Don't get me wrong, I love Judith McNaught and have read all of her books (Paradise is my all-time favorite romance), but there was just no redeeming this book. Diana was okay in some ways ( she was a bit wimpy for my taste), but I found Cole to be completely reprehensible. He was arrogant, domineering, and just downright unlikeable. Most of Judith's heroes usually display an arrogance and ruthlessness that can make them quite disagreeable at times, but they are usually given a wonderful quality that redeems them (in Matt's case, it was his sensitivity and understanding; most of her other heroes have similar qualities.) Cole did not. He came off as cold and ruthless to the end. I just never warmed up to him. Judith could have done much better.
