Summary: If you like that sort of thing
Review: If you prefer the sort of romance in which the hero treats the heroine with varying degrees of cruelty while she becomes increasingly pathetic, stopping just short of grabbing her ankles before giving the requisite "thank you sir, may I have another," (and by the prevalence of this kind of romance on the market, I can only assume a great many of you do), then this book is for you.
Teresa Medeiros forms whole sentences, manages some nice descriptive writing and creates a few interesting, albeit very disturbing secondary characters.
If, however, you prefer your hero have more claim to humanity than opposable digits and your heroine a modicum of self respect, or at the very least common sense, then I suggest you move on to some of the author's more recent works, most of which are excellent.

Summary: Forgotten read
Review: Asked to review this item I had actually forgotten what the book was about. Which says it all really!

So I had to look in the book - then I remembered Little Freddie and his brothers! How could I forget. Why do so many authors today seem to think that if they include bumbling servants or gawky love-lorn childhood friends or puppy-like heaps of half-wit brothers a book will 1. be funny and 2. endearing? They never, never are. And this one is no exception.

The hero accepts the bumbling brothers without a qualm - in real life he would have hung them all from the drawbridge at the drop of a hat! I would have hung them from the drawbridge never mind him! The heroine was the usual kindhearted, ever wonderful, shallow, silly girl.

Sorry it sounds so blunt - but its true.

Enough said.

Summary: Not Medeiros' best!
Review: Don't get me wrong, I am a huge Teresa Medeiros fan. I am constantly on the look out for her books but I'm sorry Teresa, Shadows and Lace did not do it for me. I was actually reading a book where I didn't like the main characters! The heroine was wimpy and the hero was mean. Sigh. If you are reading Teresa Medeiros for the first time, do not start with this one.

Summary: A wonderful Medevil Romance!!!
Review: I discovered Theresa Medieros here at Amazon.com. I was delighted to see her books are so entertaining. They really make you care about the characters. I love the way it makes you feel as if you were back in time. I wish I had lived in a castle with a handsome lord to call my own like Gareth. I could just envision he and Rowena. I felt as if I was there with Rowena and saw everything through her eyes. I love Therea's books and have since ordered all of them. You should too!

Summary: She has written better books
Review: I love Teresa Medieros. I have read almost every single one of her books and I have to say that this one could have been better. I felt that the hero did not respect the heroine. He acted like a jerk most of the time and did not deserve her loyalty. I have, however, read this book three times, because it is so very well written. I can just see the castle and hear the wind blowing. I can even forgive her the hero.

Summary: Forgotten read
Review: I loved this book. Rowena and Gareth were the best couple that I have read about in a long time!! I just wish that the end had explained how long the "many, long months" were that Gareth had been gone and that there was a better explanation as to what he went through while away. I also wish there had been an explanation as to what had happened to Rowena after Gareth left, or Marlys. But, all in all this book was great. The sparks flew any time that Rowena and Gareth were in the same room. Not to mention his sheer strength!! I will probably reread this book over and over again!!!

Summary: Just wonderful!
Review: I read this book when it was new and just read the reprinted edition. It is still one of the best medieval romances written. The author is a glorious writer. Her characters are fabulous and her words and images just took my breath away. I loved it!

Summary: I really enjoyed this book. Worth a read
Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. It was fast paced and well written. The only problem was that Rowena just let herself be walked upon time and time again. But once I got past that little fact. I enjoyed the story and was a little surprised about who killed the stepmother. Give this one a hard look, it is worth it.

Summary: Terrible
Review: I was so dissapointed. I have read one or two Teresa Medeiros books before and found them entertaining. This book was so poorly written that there were times I didn't know who was speaking or whose thoughts I was reading. If I was new to reading I may think it was me. I stopped caring about any of them by chapter 4.
