Rating: Summary: I Did Love It, but.... Review: ...some parts I didn't care for, namely when Moira was dragged into the woods by three gross idiots and she vowed she would kill them for trying to violate her. She was angry enough, but there was no way she could do what she vowed, so we shouldn't have been led to believe she could do it, and I didn't like part of her body being exposed that way; I don't know, it just put Moira in more of an embarrassing situation with Addis, than anything else. But...this book is truly one of the best love stories out there. Don't miss it.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: A wonderful medieval romance that I enjoyed as much for the compelling love story as I did the fact that it is well, medieval. Romance novels that claim to be set in medieval times are more often than not peopled with 20th century characters that happen to live in a castle somewhere in England. These characters didn't live in a castle for most of the book and I had no trouble believing in them or their surroundings. I'm a lousy writer so I'll leave it to someone else to provide the details. Suffice it to say I'm an avid reader of romance novels and I found this to be a rare gem.
Rating: Summary: Nearly Perfect Review: Addis was one of the best, sexiest heros ever. However, I don't know that the author had to make his injured face SO grotesque, that could be a turn-off to some and would prevent many from reading this otherwise excellent story. Not all novels convey the love between the main characters that well, but M.H. pulled it off here. Addis and Moira were truly a couple in love. This book is one of my all-time favorites.
Rating: Summary: A Wonderful Deep Love Story..... Review: After reading By Arrangement, I looked forward to reading By Possession. This book has a different feel to it than the first book, however both books are well worth the read. By Possession takes place during the 1300's. It is a deep love story between a Lord and his bondwoman. They endure many struggles together, however the largest one is the fact that he is of noble blood and she is a commoner. This is a nice change from the usual historical books where the main characters are rich and of noble descent. The heartache of Moira, Addis and their forbidden love will bring you to tears at times. A couple of suprises are in store too.

Rating: Summary: This one is a B+ for me! Review: As a romance reader with "peasant" tastes, I looked forward to reading By Possession, the second in a trilogy of stand-alone medieval romances with some trepidation. The reviewer who raved about the first title (By Arrangement) at the site I publish, All About Romance, has far more sophisticated romance taste buds than I - what if I wasn't "up" to the book? Well, that worry was for naught; author Hunter makes 14th century England come alive in a manner few authors have done for me. For all the historical richness of the story, the romantic aspect is never lost, and the poignancy of the seemingly untenable love between scarred knight Addis de Valence and serf-born Moira Falkner is truly touching. By Possession is a medieval romance brimming with romance, intrigue, and excitement. It should well satisfy not only readers who demand a high level of historical accuracy, but readers who look to historical romance to learn about history. TTFN, Laurie Likes Books Publisher, All About Romance

Rating: Summary: Absolutely magnificent!! Review: Boy, can this author write! Wow wow wow! Another powerful story of true love set in the Middle Ages. Addis and Moira are warm, caring people trying to do the best for each other without getting too hurt in the process. They know their place in society and their love wants to break out of those imposed bonds but they know it's "not done." A serf does not marry a lord. Their closeness, their friendship, Addis's "sense of peace and wholeness" whenever he's with Moira just endear them to the reader even more. The end is suspenseful and full of nail-biting action. Altogether a MOST enjoyable read! I can hardly wait for the wonderful character Rhys to have his own story in BY DESIGN, due out next year. Also try her former book BY ARRANGEMENT.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely beautiful love story!! Review: By Possesion is just a wonderful love story. You really feel the intense passion of Addis and Moira. I could not put this book down. Addis had such a difficult and challenging life and had been severely injured with scars both outside and inside. The ones on the outside would heal but it truly would take the steadfast love of Moira to heal the ones on the inside. Moira had loved Addis all her life - eventually when he realized that he would become whole again. And might just take that risk that their "stations" in life would not matter as much as living without each other. Like so many Hunter books this one just sizzles with the depth of the feelings this couple have for one another! GREAT GREAT BOOK!!
Rating: Summary: Very Good Review: By Possession, by Madleine Hunter is a very good book. The romance between Addis and Moira was/is always interesting and it makes you want to read on. If you are looking for a romance novel that you can curl up with, this is one to choose.
