Rating: Summary: PLEASANT AND ENTERTAINING Review: MIDNIGHT PLEASURES is a good read, nothing extraordinary. I loved both Sophia and Patrick, but the author gave them issues which had inconsistencies in both action and thought, forcing many of their actions to appear unbelievable.Good array of supporting characters. Don't know how the title played into the story. It led the reader to believe there would be more eroticism. I would recommend this book to others, but would let them know that while it's good, it's not really memorable.

Rating: Summary: The ending is weak... Review: The ending of Ms. James' books seems to always be weak. The story dances along entertainingly, and then, just at the end, loses its steam, poops out, falls through, whatever you want to call it. I do think this book holds up better than her first book, Potent Pleasures. I am hoping that she overcomes this failing by her third book.
Rating: Summary: Midnight Pleasures--a pleasure to read past midnight! Review: This is the kind of book to plump up the bed pillows, light a candle, and break out the chocolates. Wonderful book to read if you like to find an author who follows up her first book, Potent Pleasures, with a story that continues with those twin brothers, Patrick and Alex. Sophie and Patrick's story is a Regency romp with the added spice of the love stories of other characters. I can't wait to see if Ms. James continues the "pleasures" saga with sequels for Quill & Peter as well as Lucien! If you have enjoyed the novels of Julia London or Sabrina Jefferies, you will enjoy Midnight Pleasures!
Rating: Summary: steamy enough for me!! Review: This is the second in the series by Eloisa James and just as good as the first. This story picks up with Sophie and hunt for a man she can trust. The one she thinks she can trust may not be the one that is ment for her. With this book just as with all of Mrs. James other novels you need to set aside some time to be able to read it all in one setting. It gets to hard to put them down. You want to see if Sophie gets what she really needs and desires.... Well written sensual book with a bit of light hearted fun along with a tragedy that brings them together.

Rating: Summary: Tepid Review: This novel wouldn't be too bad, but there are absolutely no sex scenes. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not looking for erotica because that kind of novel is just trash to me (e.g., Emma Holly novels). However, I do admit that I like romance novels that have beautifully written and, yes, steamy sex/love scenes (e.g., Gaelen Foley's novels). This is the first full-length romance novel I've ever read that has NO detailed sex scenes. The hero and heroine start kissing and then the author merely alludes to the fact that they've had sex and moves on with the story. So, I'm not saying this is a bad read, but for those of us who do like a love story that has steamy sex scenes, this isn't for you. This might be the type of romance novel that you'd give to your 80 year old maiden aunt.
Rating: Summary: OK Read, More than I expected Review: This was a very good, lite read. I didn't expect too much from it, but it was more than I expected considering all that was written about of her first book. I read it all in one day. I would read the next book in the series, because I was intrigued by Quill in this book.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Read Review: very enjoyable for a rainy afternoon read!
Rating: Summary: A new favorite author! Review: Wow! I really loved these books -- there are three in the series and they are excellent. Eloisa James is a professor of English literature and clearly knows her stuff. Her writing is delightful. She bases her stories on history -- loosely! She creates a complicated but delightful tale. The three books are interwoven with characters that you come to care about quickly. Hope she's working on #4!
