Summary: Okay but not the best
Review: I love all of Jude Devereaux's stories; however, this one left me rather cold. Raine is possibly the most stubborn, prideful man I've come across. To stay away from Alyx and his baby for over a year because of his pride does not say much for his behavior. I wonder how long he would have waited if Alyx had not sent the baby to him. He was so sweet in Velvet Promise and found fault with Gavin. In this story Raine had few good qualities.

Summary: RAINE... RAINE...RAINE...
Review: I love this one, Alyx pretending to be a boy, with those violet eyes, and wild colored hair... Raine who would do,anything for her,who is always there for his brothers, sister and of course the sister in laws who adores him,i think Raine is the sweetest one from all four montgomery men... i read this book twice,i read this one first out of the Velvet Series so,i started to read them again but in order so,and i love it,love it,love it... I FELL IN LOVE WITH RAINE IN THIS BOOK... i hope i can meet a guy like that,as sweet as him... WHY CAN'T LOVE BE LIKE THAT,LIKE IN THE OLD DAYS?!!!

Summary: Easy read.....
Review: I read all Velvet series... my favorite of all is the first book, Velvet Promise. In that book, it described Raine as a strong yet sensitive man. He was practically Judith's (the heroine in Velvet Promise) champion. He speaks for Judith when needed to and defended her at all times. He was also a man of honor and of practical thinking. He was sweet and charming too. I really liked Raine very much in the first book. So naurally, in this book, I also expected him to be the same. However, the Raine in Velvet Song became engrossed with revenge and too much pride. Though, it was emphasized that he became a changed, "different" man after the awful incident of her sister's kidnapping, rape and death. I still prefer him to be level headed as described in the first book. Truthfully, One of the reasons why I finished this book was to read more of Judith and Gavin. I like to read updates about them with their baby. Also, I was sorta obligated to read it as it is part of the series. I must say though that the story is quite interesting as soon as you get the hang of it. It is an easy read but it didn't really bring different emotions out for me to enjoy it thoroughly (compared to Velvet Promise). Perhaps I should read it again to get more positive feedback out of it. Perhaps....

Summary: read it, love it
Review: I think this is the best of the four brothers. With the love and hate, and the will to never give up. She makes this book a page turner.

Summary: Like The Sound of Music gone awry.
Review: I think what it must come down to is you either like Jude Deveraux's style or you don't. I find myself falling into the latter category. Reading a book by Ms. Deveraux is like watching a movie overacted to Titian proportions-- good when we're talking Ed Wood, bad when we're trying to be sexy. I made it three-fourths of the way through before finally admitting to myself that the only thing I wanted to happen (namely, Alyx (the heroine) to hurl herself over the nearest cliff) wasn't at all likely. This having been realized, I decided to save myself the disappointment. Nevertheless, and much to my chagrin, there is one image that I cannot get out of my head from this book: Alyx and Jocelyn (a man) bursting into harmonious song at the top of their lungs in a moment of heartfelt bonding on the river bank. The writing was so sappified (as if that scene isn't inherently sappy enough) that I could actually see little pink music notes and flowers drifting around their heads. Ack. There may come a day when I learn to appreciate novels such as these, and I suppose I might then regret burning Velvet Song in that trashcan fire on 15th. But, honestly, I doubt it. [Mrs. Readwell's Recommendation: Categorize next to overripe in the domestic cheese department.]

Summary: Rather disappointing book I would say...
Review: It was not that bad, but I have read 2 or 3 books of Jude Deveraux and loved them so I expected this to be a very good book too. Unfortunately, it was just an average book, good to read and pass your free time, but nothing to remember about it after it's finished. Alyx's transformation to a boy, ends very early and the only thing that keeps the story going after that, is Raine's jealousy (a very common theme). I loved the Taming and the Knight in Shining Armor, and this book had nothing to do with them. I would suggest readers to try other books of Jude Deveraux and forget this one....

Summary: alyx is too weak-spirited, not the right image for a heroine
Review: jude deveraux is one of my favorite author but this book doesn't equal the rest of her works. i find that alyx doesn't have a strong sense of dignity. there was this scene in the forest when raine got really angry w/ alyx so he spanked her. after that, he didn't even sooth her tears but juz pushed her off his laps and said, and this is quoted, "When you're through sulking, come back to the tent and i'll make love to you so passionately you'll forget who you are." and alyx was so ready to forgive him and happily followed after him! i mean doesn't she have any pride??? he didn't even say he's sorry! i mean she's juz forgive him cauze he said the magic word, "sex"! and raine always mad at her because he doesn't wait for an explaination of why she did all these things to help him! whenever he's mad, he just packed up and go and left his wife and daughter just like that!

Summary: A wonderful read!!
Review: Ms. Devereaux always has me on the edge of my seat and wishing I could marry a Montgomery. Her incredible ability to intertwine history, romance, and adventure takes my breath away. I have read every single book she has written at least twice and I never seem to tire. This one is no exception. Truly a wonderful read!

Summary: Awful, Terrible, Horrible.
Review: Once again, Ms. Deveraux brings tears to my eyes. This was a beautiful story of love. It was also pretty funny. Especially, when the hero can't understand why he is attracted to the young "boy" he has taken in.
