Summary: This Book was HOT!
Review: Oh my God, this book was hot. I could not put it down. I recommend this one (if you like a lot of sex).

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I love this book. I thad so much passion and power.
Review: This was an excellent book. I loved how Rowena had an atitude twards Warric and changed him from a mean man to a sweet gentel man. I also liked the sex in the book. Thats what made it interesting. it is great book!!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not perfect, but close
Review: This book, the first of the historical romance genre that I read, is much better in the second half. The first part, containing Rowena's marriage to an old man and her "rape" of Warrick is a bit much to take. However, the second half of the book features some of the most sexually tense, firey, tingly chapters in romance novel history. When Warrick's eyes follow Rowena around the great hall and he tries desperately to stop himself from falling in love with her, you never want the story to end.

Summary: Brutal!
Review: This is the first Johanna Lindsey novel I've read, and it will probably be the last. I didn't find anything "romantic" about this book. It was absolutely horrific! A young virgin is forced to rape a man, because her evil step-brother is holding her mother hostage. Then, when the man she rapes is freed, he kidnaps her, and proceeds to get his "revenge." Of course, the young virgin never TELLS him she had to do it or her mother would have been killed. Oh, no! THAT would be unacceptable! ARRGH! This book made me want to scream in frustration! I don't read romances exclusively, but I do like them as an escape once in awhile. Torrid sex is fine; but enduring two forms of rape to save your mother's life is not sexy. I'd pass on this one.

Summary: Worth reading
Review: This was the first Johanna Lindsey I read and I now own over thirty of her titles. Here's the blurb: Lovely, spirited Rowena Belleme knew that she must produce an heir to pacify her ruthless stepbrother Gilbert d'Ambray. When the eldery husband Gilbert had found for her dropped dead on her wedding night, there seemed only one solution - to capture a virile man and force him to submit to her amorous advances. But Rowena found that her captive, the magnificent knight Warrick de Chaville was a little more than she had bargained for. Vowing to resist but betrayed by his own desire, Warrick was intoxicated by Rowena's sapphire eyes and voluptuous beauty. Yet all the while he was planning a fitting revenge, eagerly awaiting the time when his captor would become his helpless captive... and made to suffer the same rapturous torment and exquisite ecstacy that he himself endured.

Summary: body tingling
Review: This is the first time I read her novel. It is very original and the chemistry between the two characters was sizzling. I can't put down the book. I was hooked. Usually, love stories are the same lot...lover rescues dame, but this is original!! I love it.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: I Thoroughly enjoyed this novel.
Review: This was the first Johanna Lindsey novel I read. And now I'm hooked. I would recommend this one highly.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: Best to skip it
Review: This book brought back horrifying memories of Lindsey's earlier work, A Pirates Love. Not only is it not interesting, but it's hard to believe that the characters like, let alone love each other. It's not worth reading.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Lindsey at her best.
Review: Along with ONCE A PRINCESS and MAN OF MY DREAMS, I believe it to be one of Johanna Lindsey best. It begins when Rowena imprisoned Warrick and forced him into sexual relations. Although it is her first time, and although Warrick find it marvelous, he still Vengefully captures Rowena, and and give her the same fate. The passion they shared is magnificent, and you just can't stop reading. Don't miss this one !!

Summary: Not for the faint-hearted
Review: Fearing for her mother's life, Lady Rowena Belleme has no choice but to agree to her evil stepbrother Gilbert's wish: she must marry the lecherous old lord of Kirkburough and produce an heir, so that he could control the old man's lands and increase his own lands and army in order to take on his enemy, the Lord of Fulkhurst. However, when the old lord dies before the marriage was consummated, Gilbert covers up the death and quickly orders his men to find a man with similar physical characteristics for Rowena to copulate with.

Enter Warrick de Chaville, the Lord of Fulkhurst himself. When Gilbert's men mistake him for a serf, he finds himself held captive, chained on a bed and forced to procreate with Rowena. Known as the Dragon of the North, with a reputation for exacting swift retribution to anyone who crosses him, he vows to make her pay once he escapes. So when he gets his chance, he comes back to raze Kirkburough to the ground and takes Rowena prisoner and subjects her to the same fate.

While the rape element in this novel may appal some readers, I didn't think it was distastefully written. Although unwilling to start with, both are unable to deny their strong physical attraction for each other and end up taking pleasure in their lovemaking. Warrick also doesn't really hurt Rowena physically, as his intention is actually to make her want him so bad that she ends up begging for him to take her. And underneath his gruff exterior, we slowly see a man capable of giving love, as we see him softens towards Rowena, to the point that he starts feeling guilty about the things he's subjected her to.

As mentioned by the other readers, the love scenes is a little kinky and involves a little bit of bondage, but if you can get past this, then this book is not bad at all.
